Customers are delighted by the Roomba 860's cleaning performance, especially its effectiveness on carpets and pet hair. Many appreciate its ease of use and impressive battery life, allowing for thorough cleaning. However, some users find the navigation system needs improvement, and the dustbin requires frequent emptying. The price point was also a factor for some customers.

It's really nice to have this, especially with a dog that sheds so much. I just set a schedule for it to run every other day while I'm at work. It does a pretty good job; it can get stuck occasionally and sometimes spends way too much time in 1 room, it'll leave and hit something in the next room, then turn around and go back in the other room for another 20 minutes.

I suppose that ignorance is bliss, but once you've tried the roomba, you'll be hooked. This thing runs through the house once a day and does a great job. We have two pets that shed a lot and the pet hair used to be too much for my wife and I to keep up with. No longer a problem. Plus, it fit under our bed so that gets vacuumed daily now. Love it!

After I adopted my second dog, I soon discovered her disdain for her roomba. RIP to the old 600 series and hello to the new roomba 860. The enhancements of the brush rollers (way easier to clean) and increased vacuuming power from it's lower model are alone worth the price bump. I love the convenient timer setting so you can set it to turn on while you're away from the house.
But like my experience, take caution with your pets or else they may end up destroying your roomba.

I love the idea of having a robot do all my vacuuming however the technology just isn't quite there with this model. It does not keep track of where it's been so it just drives around aimlessly bumping into things to change the direction it travels in. This means it will often leave a room before it has finished vacuuming the room. I misses the majority of the floor in whatever room it's in. Another drawback is the waste container is far too small. In the 1300 sq ft floor of my home I have to empty it roughly 3 times and the container won't even be full (but the robot thinks it is and will force you to empty it)! It also does not hold enough charge to complete the job. 1 out of 5 times it will find its way back to its base to charge itself. I would recommend going with the 900 model which has the ability to map where it has been. However, that's based off of what I have read, we decided to buy a Dyson instead.

I bought this to replace a BoBSweep that I've had for several years. I chose it over another BoB because of the reviews. It's a little shorter, so it can vacuum under more furniture in the house. Handles the transition between hard floor and our rugs well and generally does a great job. A bit more pricey, but worth it.

This product is awesome. Glad I chose this product vs. others in the product line - great price point and just as functional as the others... not sure the extra expense would be worth the additional features.
Learns floor plan quickly, does a great job on hardwood and carpet, not to loud, overall very happy.

Shasta, our iRobot Roomba 860 does an outstanding job of keeping our 1100 SF condo floors clean. We are an elderly couple and it was getting harder for me to use the upright vac. evenly on a weekly basis. I choose the iRobot Roomba 860 based on its great reviews. The wife and I are very pleased with Shastas work . It is now more than 4 weeks since we purchased our iRobot 860. Some had said they wished the dust collector was a little larger. For us it is large enough. We do clean the collector after each use. This includes cleaning the Hepa filter very thoroughly. This takes less then five min. Shasta is a quick learner. She does not bump into as many chairs, etc as she did at first. For families where both people are very busy, this is a must have robot vac. Love that Shasta knows when she needs to recharge her batteries and goes to the charging station. We have recommended this to our granddaughter, who works outside the home. For her, I recommended the "wifi" model.

My husband had been looking at these for months, and we finally decided to give in and get one while they were on sale over the Memorial Day weekend. The first couple of days I was in love with it, but I've quickly begun to see issues with its performance. It constantly gets stuck under furniture like the guest bed, treadmill, bookshelf, etc. I tried putting the "invisible wall" around the guest bed, but it just runs it over and goes under the bed anyway. Just today, it ran for about 2.5 hours and only covered my kitchen and master bedroom before it had to dock itself to charge. I don't have a large house; it's only around 2,200 square feet. It seems like it's focusing on one part of the house and never covers the whole thing without me moving it around manually.

This was my first robotic vacuum purchase. I wanted the vacuum to primarily take care of vacuuming under beds and dressers, as I was unable to reach these spots with my upright vacuum. The suction was great and the vacuum did accomplish vacuuming under beds and dressers and getting in corners. However this vacuum has no navigational skills and relies on randomly bouncing off objects to decide where to vacuum next. It uses this pattern until the battery runs low, about 90 minutes, and then returns to the base for recharging. Because there is no navigational ability it vacuumed one room multiple times and skipped some altogether. This random cleaning pattern is what made me decide to return this robot for the Roomba 980 which does navigate from room to room.

I highly recommend this model if you have pets. Our home is completely Wood floors and this model cleans them great. I don't know what I did before I got mine. I schedule it to clean three times per week and I never have to do anything but mop!

We have a golden retriever that sheds like crazy and the roomba cleans our hardwood floors great. No more tumbling hair balls. The only thing is it gets stuck under our coffee table frequently I would think it would learn and avoid it.

Works well even with out 2 labs and all their shedding. Needs to be emptied often but beats vacuuming yourself. It does take a while for it to clean the whole first level of our house.

'DUMB' robotic vacuum. Does the job.. Barely

Pretty disappointed by this rather expensive (499.00) Robotic Vacuum.
It vacuums randomly around the house so it missed quite a bit of real estate. It is dumb enough to fall down stairs and bumps into things harshly sometimes. The included light-tower/blocking device does not work 30% of the time. The ONLY reason I did not return it is the rollers are not the junk brush kind. Which makes clelaning this Vacuum a breeze vs the cheaper alternatives.
I would NOT buy it again though. Roomba is pricing themselves out of the game as the Roomba Robotic Vacuum I had 8years ago, which cost 1/2 the price was 'smarter' than this limited model.

I've had both the 600 & 700 series Roomba. Was intrigued by the new design. The new rubber brushes really help to deep clean my carpet. Pulled up so much more than the 680 it replaced. Added bonus, it's so much quieter too.

Having Roomba has made a great deal of difference in the amount of cat hair we see around the house. We typically vacuum once a week and without Roomba being used during the week, we had a lot of cat hair on the carpets. Thanks to Roomba, we have gone to conventional vacuuming once in two weeks ( stairs and rugs)

The Roomba seems to work great. It seems to spend too much time around chair and table legs, but at the end of the day the amount of stuff it picks up (pet hair in our case) is significant. Less than 1 month in at this point.

I was skeptical before purchasing, but after the first few times running it, call me a skeptic no more! It cleans better than my shark upright, but its quiet enough to watch TV undisturbed. Buy one! You won't regret it!
