Customers are saying
Customers enjoy the Roomba 880's excellent cleaning performance, ease of use, and long battery life, frequently praising its ability to handle pet hair and pick up dirt effectively. However, some users point out navigation challenges, particularly in complex floor plans, and a small dustbin requiring frequent emptying. The relatively high price point is also a recurring concern for some customers.

Vacuums While You Do Something Else
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love, love this guy! I start it vacuuming a room while I am doing other things. When it is done, I go in and dust and the room is finished. I prefer not using the Lighthouse feature, so one could save money and get the 870 in my opinion, but, on the other hand, your house might be perfect for that feature. This little vacuum keeps my floors always clean. It is expensive, so not everyone can get one, but if you can, you will probably love it too. If your house usually has lots of clutter (like kids toys), it may not be for you at this point.

Doesn't pick up hair, bangs into things
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The roomba did not pick up my hair. It either rolled right over it or rolled it into balls and left them on the floor. It also banged into some of my furniture quite forcefully. In addition I felt like it vacuumed certain areas continuously while missing other areas. Also, I am not sure if it was OK for the carpet. I found lots of carpet fibers in the container afterwards.

Wife loves it, me not so much
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been told I expect too much from it but for 800 dollars I expect it to do at least as good as I can with a standard vacuum. It save on manually labor but that is about all.

Does not fully clean all areas
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had it for a week now and I have tiled floors and two cats. I also use it for only two rooms about 450sq.ft total. It definitely helps pick up a 1/2 bin of cat hair, dander, etc per day. But it still leaves behind some debris at the bottom of my feet. While observing it, it needlessly over-cleans the same perimeter 4+ times, wasting battery and it does not go to the places I want it to go. It mainly stays in it's homeroom. Once in awhile it finds it's way to the next room and spends some time there, doing a poor job. But then it finds it's way back to the homeroom and recleans the same perimeter / wall over and over again. By and when it goes to the next room and spends a few moments there, it wants to dock. I don't let it go home! I have to steer it to the area I wanted clean. Even then, I have to steer it more precisely to make sure it goes over every spot with the brush side. When you think about it, I would have been done using a regular vacuum and covered hard to reach spots like the corners and walls. I highly doubt this unit is capable of adequately cleaning +2 rooms before it wants to dock. I've seen videos comparing coverage in one room vs other products and while I don't disbelieve it, people will miss the details. It might cover all spots, but on many high traffic spots, it goes over it only once, while it goes over many low traffic spots like the wall needlessly multiple times. It also may not cover all walls with the brushed side. This leads to the other problem with having only one side brush. I've seen so many instances where multiple brushes would be effective. I've seen it clean perimeters / walls with the brushless side and it never comes back to clean that area with the brushed side. I would imagine a single brush saves battery. Then, the exhaust fan in the back blows away debris. I wonder if it's better to direct the exhaust up instead of back. A brush in back would help pull back some blown or missed debris. A brush on both sides would resolve the problem of it cleaning the walls with the brushless side. It also scratches itself pretty good on the sides and bottom on the first use. So it would be odd to return it if you're not satisfied. But, when I'm not home, it helps eliminate a lot of cat hair and debris from my feet for the most part. It's also quieter than what I've read and seen from various videos online. I can still let it run when I'm in the room doing work. Note, I've never used any other robot vacuum as a comparison.

I absolutely love the brushless rollers!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For people who have never owned a robotic vacuum I need to break it to you - you still need to manually vacuum. These things are for helping keep the floor cleaner between manual cleanings. That being said - the 880 (and 870) models are the bomb! I wanted the 870 because they leave out the remote, give you a generation older wall units, and charge you $100 less. I don't care how cool the functions of the latest "lighthouse" wall unit is - I've owned wall units for 10 years and just don't want to use them. Ten years with a pair of Roomba Discovery models with the programable/scheduler upgrades, and a Red before that means I know what to expect from a robotic vacuum. This thing picks up more that the Discovery models ever did - and it actually seems to learn the room rather than the old pattern of spiral out, find the wall, make some corners and then strike out across the room and repeat... Where this thing is the bomb over all other Roomba's I've ever seen is in that the rollers don't have brushes and don't get clogged with hair and debris. It will still get lost from the charging station at the end of a cleaning and need to be manually put back on it (hey - you need to pick it up and empty the bin anyway) - but I haven't been able to make it get the robotic mad cow disease that every other unit I've ever seen gets when the brushes get clogged and start messing with the sensors. I'm sure I'll have to actually clean the unit eventually - but running side by side with one of my beloved it Discovery models through an obstacle course of dirt, dog hair, thread, and paper punched holes - this thing ate it all up and didn't get anything in the rollers or the works. It was like comparing a 2 year old and a 12 year old eating pie. I left off a star from features because I didn't want another remote or any more walls - and I don't like paying for things that I don't want.

So far so good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far we have gotten good results with over a month of use. It gets good coverage of the first floor on both wood and carpet on a single charge. We use the virtual wall feature to temporarily keep it out of areas we don't want it. Surprising how much dirt and pet hair this thing picks up on a daily basis. I gave only 4 stars instead of 5 because of the lack of mobile support for a product sold in 2014/2015. With technology becoming smart enabled and moving more towards the internet of things the key feature missing is support for mobile. This would be useful to better schedule the Roomba and to support notifications of when it failed (i.e. got stuck under my couch) or when you wanted to remotely kickoff a cleaning cycle manually or IFTTT actvitity. I was initially skeptical but pleased how well it cleans so far.

Very Impressive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased with the intentions of most likely having to return it. I was sure it wiuld not match the daily need our home requires with three shedding animals and a boy that loves to track in dirt. Well, we still have it. 2700 sqft home that is not an open floor plan is better off for it. It really impressed me. Scary how good this thing cleans. It cleabs the down stairs on its own. There is ine rug it cannot get over, but we vacuum it. It goes under and around things to clean pretty good. Recgarges itself as needed. I carry it up stairs and let it go to town. Avoids steps and does its thing. It picks up a lot of hair, so dumping the bin daily is a must. Cleans better than expected, so for being design to be as a maintenance cleaning till this thing is perfect. You will so have to move furniture and run the vacuum every now and again for a true deep cleaning, but this thing does great.

Very disappointed with Roomba
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So disappointed! We live in a pretty large house with 1 dog and 3 cats. We have multiple area rugs. We read many reviews and thought Roomba would be our answer. First, the good aspects: Our Roomba 880 really does have excellent suction power. Surprisingly so for a unit this small. Also, the battery life is great. Given the power of the suction and spinning rollers, I'm pretty impressed by how long Roomba goes for before it needs a recharge. We have it set to automatically head out and start cleaning every afternoon at 1pm. It works for about 2-3 hrs before heading back to the docking station to recharge. Now the bad: 1) Roomba was supposed to make our life easier by doing our vacuuming. But in truth, we spend more time servicing and rescuing Roomba than any benefit we get from its cleaning. Roomba is constantly getting stuck/trapped under couches, furniture, etc. Every time Roomba heads out, it gets stuck somewhere at least once or twice. We have never come home and not found roomba wedged somewhere. Really annoying. 2) The dust compartment is WAY too small. The light on top telling us that the bin has to be emptied is constantly on because it fils up fast and needs to be emptied, a LOT. So we have stop Roomba, flip it over, empty out the bin, put it back in, and the hit the button to restart the robot. 3) The rollers clog up a lot. Sometimes when the indicator light goes on saying that Roomba's bin needs to be emptied, we flip it over, and the bin is actually empty because the rollers are all jammed up with dust bunnies, fur, etc. So you need to open up the "roller cage", pop out the rollers, clean out all the packed in dirt/dust, put them back in, and then restart roomba. 4) Roomba gets clogged up with small things left about the house. If you have socks on the floor, little cat toys, strings, kids who leave their toys etc around the house, all these things get pulled into the rollers and then have to be extricated from the rollers or Roomba shuts down. What this means is that before roomba heads out to clean, you basically need to walk around the house and pick up all the things that might get stuck in Roomba's rollers. You are essentially cleaning up before your robot heads out to clean. Whats the point of having to do that? So in the end, very disappointed with roomba. For a device this expensive, we should not have all of these problems. If we could still return it, I definitely would. Not worth the VERY expensive price. As I said up above, I spend more time having to clean up ahead of roomba and service roomba...every day.
