got this for my wife for Christmas......we have two house dogs that shed quite a bit. roomba works great, under chairs, beds, etc. my wife loves it. cuts down a lot on normal vacuuming.

We have a number of Persian carpets and I was worried about the fringes getting caught. Have been using it several times a week and so far not a single tangle. The guy at Best Buy said I had 15 days to return it, so let the thing run every day, several times a day, until I was satisfied. I have an enormous basement (unfinished) with lots of space...I just let it go over and over...all I see now is small amounts of concrete dust. In our guest room we have a twin-bed futon that is always opened into the bed...my Dyson can't get completely under it...I let the Roomba run several times and was amazed at the lint and dust in collected from under the bed. It is clean now and stays that way. Of course I still need to break out the Dyson for the corners and other special areas, where the Roomba can't go, but overall. the Roomba is a great device.

I really love my IRobot. She (I named her Babee) does a great job on all of my floors, hardwood, ceramic tile and carpet. She even gets right against the baseboards. She does the best job on my carpets. The IRobot is very easy to use right out of the box. The first time I used her, I was not impressed. However, she cleaned much better after the first couple of times. Guess she needed to get accustomed to my house. My IRobot really saves my aching back so even with the expensive price tag, it is worth it to me.

Our Roomba is tasked with sweeping the kitchen, nook and hallway - all tile, and a relatively large area. After watching it a few times, it is still unclear what sort of cleaning pattern it is operating under. It retraces paths and whole areas. It takes an hour and a half before it completes the job and returns to its charger. I don't know if it has an effective "learn" capability that will shorten its working time iI does an acceptable job, and picks up routine stuff. Large stuff, like popcorn for example, seems to be pushed away. It is relatively quiet as it goes about its business, though it is amusing when it nudges the chair you are sitting in. The two lighthouses that come with the Roomba, are adequate (along with closed doors) to keep the Roomba within the desired areas.

I was very skeptical of how well robot vacuums would clean. If it not for my wife who persuaded me in buying this little appliance, I probably would never have found out. This little thing vacuums very well. It is as if someone manually vacuumed my carpet. No bags to mess with; when it's full, just pull the back and throw away the dirt. The unit requires little maintenance as well. My only con is that it does not seem to vacuum in all areas unless the space is opened up. It will try to find these little areas by bumping into things but if it doesn't find the space to go to, it will not go there to clean. Easily fixed by turning off the robot and place it on the area you want to clean.

Overall we have been very happy with the Roomba 880. It does a very nice job of keeping the floors clean in our dining room (wood with area rug), living room (carpet) and kitchen (tile). I have found that you must keep up with cleaning the device or it begins to have issues with completing its job...a weekly cleaning solves this. Beyond that, we have an older house (1929) and have found that the Roomba has great difficulty with the cold air returns and the carpet to tile transition in front of the fireplace....it tends to get stuck in these areas. I am not sure that a different design would do any better in these difficult areas though. All in all, it has been a great product and with 5 kids living in our home, it is wonderful to wake up in the morning to a clean floor everyday.

I looked at many different reviews and models before purchasing ours. Many years ago I had an entry level one which was so-so. This was a big purchase & I haven't regretted it once! We named her Rosie (i.e. The Jetsons). We do use the schedule feature & she leaves her dock daily at noon and returns to her dock when she's cleaned our large, single story home. She navigates changes between flooring like a trooper & I love that she also cleans under sofas & beds! The rollers are definitely a big improvement over the prior model brushes. Only once did she stop unexpectedly when she ran across a quarter. But she stopped and provided an audible warning. EXCELLENT!

Just installed hardwood floors throughout house and purchased Roomba. Started cleaning before leaving house. Was out for hours, came home to very clean floor, and Roomba sitting back in it's charging station. Exactly what I wanted.

Amazing! Wonderful product and simple to use. I heard it was great and it is!

This was the first Roomba I have ever purchased. It was a lot better than I was expecting. It can clean for several hours before returning to be recharged. It does not clean the corners very well, but it's great overall unless you spend the time doing it yourself. You do have to clean the lint try after every use, but it will easy to do and with little effort. I don't know about the others, but this one is a winner!

We have 13 cats in our household and shedding is at it's height right now. We are very pleased with our Roomba. So far it's been doing a very good job in our downstairs which has a sunken living roomThe only small complaint is it seems to have trouble with corners??

Reading reviews, I knew that it did not clean completely the first time around, and that's true. But scheduling it to run every day does the trick. My wife named it Felix after the neat-nick on Odd Couple. How it cleans is quite random, but it knows how to carefully clean along walls, and it will go back and forth around chairs and small objects to make sure its covered everything. I like how it goes under furniture and beds and gets all the dust bunnies. We do have one bookshelf that has 3-1/8 inches clearance from the floor, and Felix will get stuck sometimes. If it was 4 inches, it would be just fine. So I will have to raise it up a bit. I'm betting furniture stores will start seeing people reject furniture that does not have enough clearance to get under. Our couch, chairs, kitchen hutch, and beds all have 4 inch clearance and it spends a bunch of time under them making sure the floor is clean. No problem transitioning from wood floor to carpet. Same with area rugs. We did buy this model with the two lighthouse/virtual wall units and we've used both. Our master bedroom is down the hall, well away from the living room where Felix sleeps. Without the lighthouse, it would not go down all the way to the bedroom. Putting the lighthouse in the right place (halfway between) works great. It goes into the bedroom everyday and still finds its way back to the docking station. Same with the virtual wall - it keeps Felix away from a rough boot storage area where it would get stuck otherwise. Once in awhile he fails to find his way back to the docking station, but usually its because it got stuck in a messy bedroom or trapped by some obstacle we left out. As a result, he's training us to pick up stuff off the floor and close doors to messy rooms if we don't clean up our mess. Battery life is great - spends at least an hour cleaning every day.

Good product,used for about a month. Needs reg. clean up of garbage gathered. Quiet, reaches all hard(under couch) places, low maintenance. Love it.

The roomba cleans great. You have to clean it out mulitple times which is annoying, the first day but once it cleans the floorplan, its only cleaning maintenance after that.

So far I love it picks up everything just great. Dog hair very well. Only problem is my dog's curiosity, loves to hit the start button on top ALL the time. I guess he likes to keep his hair picked up.

I purchased this hoping it would help out around the house with cleaning. I am so happy by the results. This things takes some time to do it's job, but it cleans the floors better than I could do with a standard vacuum. Highly recommended

This is a great invention and very useful for all rooms of my home. I am glad to have it and use it almost every day. I would recommend this to anyone interested in an automated vacuum cleaner.

Wonderful for large open spaces. More difficult for smaller spaces with furniture on most of area.setting parameters could be easier to interprete and set in place.

The Roomba 880 does a great job on both wood floors and rugs. It's pattern is random but given enough time it will clean every room. The 880 has an internal vacuum (less pricy models just sweep dust and dirt) so it picks up crumbs from the dining area and kitchen and dust and dirt everywhere. it knows when its battery needs recharging and finds its way back to the charging station without a problem. I had heard of people naming their vacuum but had never thought much about it until my wife and I conversed and since the floors looked especially good, I asked if "Mr. Roomba" had cleaned that day. Don't be surprised if you do the same.

This Vacuum can clean our apt as desired. And it can go back to charge when the power is low and it can speak Chinese! Really like it.
