I bought a Roomba Discovery, which entitled me to a free iRobot Dirt Dog (a non-vaccuming sweeper). Both products were so good, I decided to buy a Roomba Sage for my second residence. For a lot less money, the Sage provides you with what you need. The Sage has the same firmware version as the Discovery. The only difference is color and the accessories it comes with (one virtual wall vs the Discovery's two). I find I don't even use the virtual walls, so paying for the Discovery with 2 virtual walls was really a waste of money. You definitely want to have the high-capacity batttery and charging base, which came with my Sage. The remote control is pretty much fluff. I never use the remote control; I just let the Roomba go where it wants to go. Instead of using virtual walls, I usually just close a door or put a barbell in such a way that it blocks access. I've been very happy with my two Roombas, and in fact bought a third for my parents. They couldn't believe how much dirt and dust the Sage picked up. Cleaning is quite easy, once you realize how to remove the dust tray and brushes. I think this is a great product. I have a very expensive carpet in my bedroom and the Roomba always fills up with lots of the carpet fluff. I hope it's not ruining it. I was afraid the the Roomba would mar the furniture, but even though it bumps into furniture legs it seems to leave no marks. I might buy some felt to give me a bit more peace of mind, though.

When my brother first received an iRobot Roomba for his birthday, I paid little attention to the gadget. But when I moved into a condominium with all hardwood floors and saw dustballs collecting in the corners of my rooms, I couldn't wait to get a Roomba of my own. I am a busy professional and can't spare the time to vacuum my floors more than once a week. I've had it for three months now and am incredibly pleased with the purchase. This product is a must for households in which at least one member has long hair. With the Roomba, I can focus on other household chores, catch up on TV, go to the movies or dinner, or just get some much needed rest -- and I don't have to deal with accumulating dust and hair. This Roomba does not have a scheduler, but it it is easy enough to put the little creature in a room, making sure to remove wires and fabrics that may get stuck, and press "Clean." Although its trajectory may seem erratic, iRobot states that it passes over each spot about four times, and from my experience, there has never been a missed bit of dirt or hair. Instead of leaving the Roomba to clean the entire condo, I usually choose a couple rooms for it to vacuum during each use. Then, I charge it on its home dock and set it to its next task. The battery lasts about 2-3 hours, which is sufficient for cleaning about 400-500 square feet of space. I used the Roomba every 2-3 days to keep my place clean. Sometimes I do still have to mop the floors for stains that a vacuum won't pick up, so the only problem is that now I want the Scooba to scrub my floors, particularly in the bathrooms and kitchen. I love to cook, and with the Roomba, I don't need to waste time and work up a sweat vacuuming. Not just that, it cleans under couches and in spots that I would deliberately ignore if I were pushing my old Hoover around. I did run into a problem about a month after regular use. It seemed that the battery would run out after an hour and it would not dock itself into the home base. However, I just followed the instructions on the iRobot web site to take out the battery, put it back in, connect it to its electrical plug, and let the Roomba charge (not on the dock) for 72 hours. This resolved the problem and it's been fine since. I also don't love having to clean the dustbin out every 3 or so uses, especially since it involves cutting off the hair that gets stuck in the roller. But it's a small price to pay for not seeing all that hair on my floors. I've read reviews about the Roomba breaking down after a few months. Mine is three months old and still works like it did the first day, and my brother's is almost three years old and is still functioning well in a 2-bedroom apartment with two furry cats. He does admit to having to use duct tape to hold the dustbin secure, but it's held up pretty well considering the frequent use, banging into walls, and abuse from the cats. Pros: You never have to vacuum again. Ever. It does a better job vacuuming than I ever did. I LOVE the Roomba for this simple fact. As my household and square footage grows, I know I'm going to buy more and more Roombas to keep my home clean. Cons: Ran into a problem with diminishing battery life, but a quick Google search and a look at iRobot's support pages resolved the problem. Need to empty dustbin after three uses. Roomba life span seems to vary across users.

I purchased the Roomba Robotic vacuum cleaner for myself and was throughly pleased. My tile floors have never been cleaner. We have been under construction inside and outside for the past year and my floors are dusty and sandy constantly. Now all that I do, is run my Roomba every few days and my floors are staying clean. It's amazing! It easily transverses from tile to carpet and back again. I am amazed each time I empty the dirt compartment and it is full every time. My only regret was that I did not purchase sooner. I will be giving the Roomba away this year as Christmas gifts to my family. Thanks Roomba and thanks Best Buy!

I have always been a sucker for new cleaning gadgets, only to be disappointed in my purchase. However, the Roomba has brought my entire family satisfaction. It cleans very well on all floor surfaces, including carpeting, linolium, and laminate flooring. It is amazing the dirt and debris the Roomba, (or as we call him Stedmon), picks up. The Roomba motivates my family to clean up their rooms so that we can run the Roomba. The Roomba can pick up small objects such as pencils or get tangled in cords or shoelaces. The Roomba can also go underneath furniiture as well, so even under their beds have to be clean. It is so nice to be able to do other household tasks or just chill out while the Roomba cleans my floors and it cleans more thoroughly than what I ever would by pushing an ordinary vaccuum. I am absolutely satisfied with the Roomba and highly recommend it to everyone. Besides ordinary holiday gifts, this would make a great Mother's Day, Wedding or Housewarming gift.

I purchased my I roomba back in November of 2007. (the discovery 400 series) within the 1st month it broke down and the company sent me a new one(I had to pay for the shipping to send the broken one back) to make a long story short, I have been through 4 roombas since . I cannot live without it now, if the company can just work out all the glitches , this would be every womans dream. never to vacumm again. I totally love it but I just keep praying that my 4th one wont break.

I think this is a great product. I have told everyone I know. We start it before work and close the door to the room and go. This picks up dog hair and dust very well. I live in Arizona and the dust can be very bad. I havent had to take a sinus pill in 3 months. I am sold! I recommend this product.

I bought this irobot for mother's christmas gift. she loves it and it clean all my house. and very easy to use.

it's good if you only want a couple of rooms cause like if one room is dirty a little it will be full quick.

This is a real time saver. We have two cats and lots of hardwood floor. This vacuum picks up stuff we can not even see. We think the floor is clean and we run the roomba and it picks up a lot of debris. Well worth the money if you dont have the time to run a vacuum every day.

The irobot is great, i have arthritis in my back and hips and this vacuum has helped me 100%. i just start it up and let it go. it is easy to care for. i am going to purchase the irobot roomba 560, it has the self charging home base. these machines are worth the money.

best money we ever spent. my wife swiffers everyday because of our dog. turns out she was just wasting her time.after she swiffered, we put it on and it was amazing on how much was missed.my only regret was not buying the one with the base.my wife loves it, because its one less thing she has to do.(just like the ronco commercial"set it and forget it").were about to make our second purchase to have one on each floor of our house...will definately recommend

I purchased this at Best Buy on 8/4. CAlled customer service (irobot) a week later to complain that the robot ignored areas of the floor. I was told it was my floors' fault, that it is too shiny and too dark. My floors are matte finished natural oak. Two weeks later, I was told my rooms are too big. My rooms are average size (10x12). After a month and a half of arguing with people who barely spoke English, today I received a replacement. Not a complete replacement, mind you, just the main body, without the battery or hookup, or brushes, or virtual walls. That would be ok, I guess, assuming the problem is in the main body and not the other parts. The primary problem with the replacement is that it is not the same model or color. This is the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I have ever received.

I love my irobot to use for quick clean ups, it definetly does not do the deep clean but when you need to get things done you can turn it on and it vaccums while you do other chores, it just can not take the place of a regular vaccum

I really like the Roomba. It's cleaning the floor while I can dust or do something else. The side brush picks up trash in the corners.

I bought this so it would vacuum while I was at work, the first one lasted three months and then it started to speed up and turn randomly and decide it was finished about 30 seconds after starting, the 2nd and 3rd only last a week each. The only reason I gave it one star is because no stars wasn't an option.

Spend the extra money and get the docking Roomba; it's more quiet and more convenient. We tried to save $120 -- but ended up w/ an extra trip to Best Buy to get the RIGHT one.
