It move effortlessly between wood floors and carpet; hasn’t ever gotten stuck on anything. My only complaint is that it doesn’t clean against the baseboard.

Smart, Powerful, and Effortless
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really enjoying this powerful robot vacuum. I use the app to set up automatic cleaning when I leave for work and it goes to work while I go to work. I don’t have to worry about the bin getting full because the self-emptying bin does all of that for me. Does great on hardwood floors but also does carpet too. The house gets a daily vacuum and I don’t have to lift a finger. Setup was easy enough if you’ve connected any smart device to Wi-Fi. Plug in the base station and place the vacuum on the charging connectors. After a few moments it will power on. Follow the directions in the very intuitive app on your smart phone. After about 10 minutes, the vacuum was set up, updated, and ready to do it’s first vacuum. You have a few options for how to vacuum. You can set the schedule to start vacuuming at a certain time. If you connect a location app such as Life360 to your Roomba app, you can set the vacuum to start when you leave your home. You can also do it manually if you want to make sure you’re home when it vacuums. The Roomba itself does a great job navigating around my home. I have a lot of odd placement of furniture and obstructions which it does a great job of navigating. It’s bumpers on the front and side are used to navigate around walls, edges, and obstacles. It gives furniture and walls a light bump then adjusts to work around the edge. Once it gets a feel for the edges it then makes passes across the floor in stripes to get full coverage of the room. When it’s time to recharge or empty the bin, the vacuum makes its way back to the base station automatically and empties its contents. The process of emptying the contents lasts about 5 seconds, and this may be the only downside, sounds like it’s sending a tube over to the bank teller. It’s very loud as it seems to blow over the contents of it’s bin before returning to clean. I really like how clean and stylish the vacuum looks since most of the time it’s sitting at its base station it blends in with the rest of the décor instead of looking like an expensive kid’s toy. The vacuum is a bit bigger than I expected but It doesn’t take up anymore floor space than a laundry basket. As far for how well it vacuums it does a fantastic job. It did my whole house, making just a few trips back to the home base to empty the bin. I noticed right away how much better my hardwood floors looked and it compares to regular vacuuming. It doesn’t seem to have an issue with larger particulates either. Now I only drag out my other vacuum to do my couches and ceiling fans. If you want to keep your floors looking nice without having to drag out the vacuums, cords, or take the time it takes to do the job, Roomba upholds its reputation by being a great product that is easy to set up, use, and keeps making life easier by eliminating steps with the self-emptying bins.

Great performer, auto dirt disposal is amazing
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The i3+ is my second robot vacuum. The other one I have is made by a competitor and does a good job, but the i3+ tops it in several categories. For one, the i3+ does an excellent job running grid patterns to make sure everything gets cleaned. It also has a dirt sensor that picks up dirtier areas of the floor and focuses on them. But my favorite is the automatic dirt disposal. The same dock that is used to charge the i3+ also has a powerful vacuum in it that sucks out the dustbin of the i3+ when it docks. I love this function. My other robot vacuum has to be manually emptied when it gets full, and in a decent sized house, the dust bin can get full pretty quick. Having to stop the robot, pick it up, dump its bin, and then place it back down is a hassle, and the robot loses its place. There is no such issue with the i3+. When the bin gets full, the i3+ returns to the dock automatically to dump its trash and then gets back to work. I feel with the i3+ I can truly set it and leave it. Other floor robots seem to have to be babysat, but not so the i3+. When the battery gets low, the i3+ returns to the charging station, empties its bin, and begins to charge. After it gets enough of a charge, it automatically leaves and picks up cleaning where it left off. During my couple of weeks with the i3+, I can't find any weaknesses. The iPhone app is easy to use. The i3+ can be controlled from the cloud. It shows you a map (on the app) of where it has cleaned. It's less likely to get tangled up in stuff, and avoids falling down stairs due to its sensors. Just handling the i3+ gives you an idea of the quality it has versus competitors. The styling is more luxurious, with a fabric-type top, instead of a hard plastic shell. The charging station/dustbin removal tool is compact and tucks away easily. It does not stick out like a sore thumb. After having used a competitor's floor vacuum for quite a while, I can see why Roomba is considered the Cadillac of robot vacuums. It does a great job and has the added bells and whistles that allow it to stick out from the rest of the robot vacuum pack.

Robot Vacuums still need work
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'd love to say they've finally gotten it right after all these years, but overall they are still more of a pain than they are a benefit. To be clear, I've owned past Roomba robots, Neato robots, and Samsung robots. It's a great concept and all have their own redeeming qualities, but none really truly fill the void of just doing it yourself. First, the setup was a piece of cake. It was up and running in minutes and the interface in the app is pretty slick. I very much like the Google Home integration. I like that I was able to name the vacuum and Google Home recognized the name. It charges pretty quick and is able to get back up and running in no time. It seems as though it can get around and do its job for about an hour on a full charge. It's pathing is still a bit reckless and I find it's still not very smart about the way in which it gets around. The Roomba brand was always a bit bad about this. It basically runs around in circles bumping into things and if it gets one wheel lifted up on a threshold/object while the other is down it will just sit and run and run until the battery dies. By comparison the Neato uses a bit more logic and does a better job of being less reckless with its pathing. But at the end of the day the major failing of all robot vacuums is that they simply get hung up in a space they don't belong in and ultimately run out of juice or stop and you're left going to find them and put them back on their charger by yourself, and then finish the job with a regular vacuum. This particular model is nice in that it comes with a trash bin and it will empty itself. However, the trash bin is a bit large and finding a space for the device in your home is a real bother....no one wants to see these unsightly things sitting out in the open. The vacuum is a bit noisy, but not overbearing. But the trash bin is VERY loud and a real nuisance if you have it in a common space. Ultimately if you have a space where the vacuum can roam free and there are no table/chair legs, or cords, or dog toys, or entertainment centers or basically any typical home furniture then your experience is going to be fantastic. But if your home is normal and filled with obstructions, furniture, thresholds and stairs then you may consider just sticking with a normal vacuum until they can teach these things to open closet doors and get themselves out of a jam.

Super neat vacuum
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've tried another robot vacuum in the past. It was a Samsung and it worked fine. So my limited experience with these products might need to be taken with a grain of salt but I was much more impressed with this Roomba. Everything from build quality, packaging and streamlined setup process made the experience far better than I had seen before. The huge box is really just to house the tall charging base with it's automatic dirt emptying bin. Everything was packaged nicely and looked sleak when unboxing. The design and style of the Roomba is just so far ahead of anything else I've seen. This IS a product that's going to be sitting on your floor for a while so it's really nice that care has been taken to make it look good. Setup is pretty easy. I didn't run into any hiccups during the process. Just download the app, set up an account and start the pairing process. The app takes you through the whole processes step by step and it was very easy to follow. The only thing you really need is your wifi name and password and the app will guide you through the rest. Performance seems pretty good. I tested the vacuum out on my largest floor area that was pretty dirty and I tested it right out of the box. The robot only had about as much time as setup took to charge up a bit. It did a lot of work and then took a small break to charge up and continued it's work. The vacuum isn't crazy loud or anything. You can definitely hear it but it's not obnoxious or anything. Loud happens when the automatic emptying bin takes over. So you'll have a pretty quiet vacuum job punctuated with the sound of a jet engine flying over head a few times when it needs to empty. The super loud emptying sound was one of the few down sides I've experienced to this vacuum. The only other one is that since it's a round puck shape, there are definitely corners it will have trouble getting in to and you might need to go over that with another vacuum. The way the robot felt around my room and kind of learned where things were was really cool as well. Other features of the software are the ability to set up a schedule for vacuuming (or just manually starting it from away from your home). You also get a nice little history page complete with a map of where it vacuumed. The app feels very well done. All in all, I do like this vacuum a lot better than my old Samsung. I will put it to use more often than I used to. I don't hate the way it looks when it's idle on my floor and it does a good job getting the carpet mostly clean. If you're in the market for a nice, above average robot vacuum with some style, this might be the one for you if it fits your budget.

Just Works and that's good
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unboxing and setting up this vacuum was super simple and easy, unbox the base (the dust collection bag was already installed) plug it in and set the robot on top of the base in its place. Then you use the app to finish setting it up and that's it. I have a mixture of carpet and hardwood floors in my home and the roomba vacuums both without an issue. It has plenty of suction to clean my slightly high pile carpets with no issue and the bot does not get stuck anywhere in my apartment which is kind of nice. The i3 version lacks the house mapping so you can't tell the robot to clean a specific place in your home (at least not that I have seen yet) but I have a fairly small home so a normal vacuum run is only about 45 minutes. Once the bots done vacuuming it goes back to is base and the base kicks in and empties it out so interaction from me at all. I've set it to a schedule and it does everything else on its own no worry for me at all. Also the vacuum when its running is not very loud at all, my dishwasher is louder than it is, and while the base when it empties the robot is a little louder it only runs for 10 or 20 seconds at the end of the run. Honestly I'm hard pressed to find anything about it in the time I've used to that I don't like, it just works like it is supposed to and I don't have to worry about it which is the whole point behind getting a "robot vacuum" in the first place honestly. I never would have wanted one before because you had to empty the bin every time it vacuumed but with this I don't have to touch it until the bag in the base is full and from the documentation that should be no sooner than 60 days (but I also don't vacuum every day so it might be longer) Overall its a great tool to have around the home and takes one more chore off the list of things I would normally have to do.

Great upgrade from an older Roomba!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I previously had a Roomba 870, which I used primarily to keep my family room and kitchen floors clean. It did the job but there were some downsides, which the i3+ mostly addressed for me. First, the i3+ connects to wi-fi making it a snap to start/stop the roomba from my phone. My previous Roomba pre-dated this and it wasn't possible. Using wi-fi makes it simple to "see" what the roomba is doing regardless of if I am upstairs or if I am out. It doesn't show me where it is in my house specifically, but it tells me that it's running, charging, or emptying the bin and I can pause it or send it back "home" from my phone. Second, this model appears to be a huge upgrade in the cleaning department for me. First, I really like that it follows a more normal pattern of cleaning, moving in relatively straight lines across the room. My older model cleaned in "random" line patterns. This i3+ also seems to have quite a bit stronger suction than my older model. And when it finishes or needs to return to "home" to charge, it empties the bin automatically. That's awesome! My older model had a much smaller base and would often bump into it or push it slightly making returning to "home" a bit more of a challenge for it. This base is larger and less prone to moving if bumped. You can also wrap unused cord around the back of the base, making it one less cord that can get in the way. The other item I like is that when the job is complete, you can see a kind of map of what was cleaned. I like being able to see what it covered and what it missed. To clean my main floor, which is all hardwood, it took about 2.5 hours, with a break in between to charge back up. It also navigated some area rugs quite well, and avoided falling down the steps to the basement. Couple of other things that I did not try but may be important... the i3+ doesn't come with virtual walls, like my old model did. I didn't try to use the old virtual walls, but I imagine they might work. As a result, the i3+ will continue cleaning my whole floor until it is finished and it can take a while to do that if it has to return to base and re-charge. When the i3+ empties it's bin, it is a bit loud, like I turned on my shop-vac. It only lasts 5-10 seconds maybe, but it is loud nonetheless and I won't run this while the kids are sleeping. The i3+ is much quieter overall when running than my older model. I can be on work calls and it can run in the background without being disruptive if it is in the other room. Overall, I'd say this is a great upgrade or a great model if it is your first roomba. I would absolutely recommend getting a model with the Automatic Dirt Disposal. I didn't realize how much I'd like it until I had it. I believe there is a more expensive model that you can direct to clean specific rooms through mapping features. This does not have that. If that is important, look for that feature. As a robot vac, I don't think you will be disappointed if you are looking for an intelligent robot vac with great suction and the ability to empty its own dirt bin. One last item to provide perspective, we do not have pets in our house, so I can't provide input on how it operates in that kind of home.

Perfect Smart Robot Vacuum
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will start by saying that I have tried other smart robot vacuums in the past and while most did an ok job, it was annoying to see it haphazardly bounce off a wall and going off in a completely other direction. I was a bit skeptical about the Roomba i3+ (really could it be that much better) but I was sold on the automatic dirt disposal. Let me tell you, this might be the smartest thing in my house. Unlike other smart vacuums, this doesn't just bounce off a wall or furniture and spin in random directions. This vacuum "hits" a wall/furniture/child/dog/whatever, stops vacuuming for a second, reassesses its placement, and turns down next to where it just was. I had vacuum lines in the carpet!!! This was really exciting for me, because I could actually see that it had cleaned the carpet. As an owner of many pets, the hair can get ridiculous. This is nice that I can turn it on and know that it is going to get most of the pet hair off the floor. In addition, the Automatic Dirt Disposal is a god send - I don't have to worry about the vacuum getting too full and doing only a quarter of the living area. I will say that the one con is when the vacuum returns to the base to dispose of the dirt/hair. It is extremely loud and kinda sounds like a mini jet engine. It startled my kids the first time they heard it; now they just giggle when it goes off. Aside from that one minor thing, this is really the best thing I have ever gotten for my house. It makes keeping up with our busy day to day lives a little easier because it is one less thing I have to worry about.

Game changer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have two golden retrievers and I could not maintain the dog hair all over the house. After many reviews between Shark and Roomba, we ended up getting this one and omg—this was a total game changer for me! I love the self emptying feature! I don’t have to worry about a cleaning routine left I completed due to a full trash bin so it’s so worth it to me! Cannot recommend enough☺️

Amazing!!! Exceeded Expectations!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is amazing. The suction power is really good. It went thru every room and did a great job. I stopped it and brought it back to the station to pair with my shop and then clicked on resume and it know where to go and resume. Also it provides hours of entertainment for the cat. I Luke that it doesn't have a camera for privacy purposes. When I docked it at the end... it automatically disposed if the dirt into the charging unit. Sounds like a key taking off when it empties.... that's OK as it only takes a few seconds. Already recommended this unit and they are going to buy one.

Very Impressed
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Set up was a breeze. It's basically plug and go once it synchs up. App is very user friendly. This is my first iRobot product and it has not disappointed. Has amazing suction and while it takes longer than another brand I have used it definitely gets the job done. It does use bags once the unit returns to the docking station and the auto empty takes over. Be advised, it is very loud when it empties so make sure pets and little ones are aware. I would definitely recommend this for purchase. It works on carpeted or wooden / laminate floors and does a great job on both.

Loved my old Roomba but this one is even better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My last Roomba was great in picking up dirt but it was old and when this one was deeply discounted I decided to buy. Ability to use it with the app, the self-emptying feature, the linear traffic patterns (instead of random) and how it recharges but restarts the job if it is not done make a great product even better. It came with no directions and I had to search the site to determine how to set it up. Plus I had to repeat the process a few times as it didn't connect or charge properly at my first setup. That is why I gave Ease of Use only 4 stars. Now it's working great and I am happy.

Decent product for about 3 years.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It worked well until almost getting to year 4. I did have a large amount of space for it to cover so that might have caused the issues i was having. But overall it was a decent porridge. Be sure to get supplemental replacement parts though
