Scarier than the TV miniseries
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.IT. Just the word conjures up sometning dark and creepy for those of us old enough to remember the original miniseries with Richard Thomas and Tim Curry. Unfortunately the drawback here is it's only the first half of the story, but the second is out this summer in theaters. That being said, this version is a dark creepy ride through the seven characters as children facing an entity that comes out every so often to feed in the town. The two hours plus are a setup for the final confrontation between the adults and IT. But this (chapter one) is a fine thriller that stands on its own. Hey, clowns are creepy to start with. The film transfer is by nature dark in a lot of places. The Dolby Atmos soundtrack provides super audio and scares the pants off you in a few spots!

It (2017 Version) SteelBook
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overview: Blu-Ray / 4K / Digital SteelBook Bundle The Good: Excellent build quality on the SteelBook. The back especially has a cool image of Georgie's paper boat. When you open the SteelBook up, you get an image of Pennywise trying to convince Georgie to come down and play with him. The movie itself is a great adaption of the Stephen King classic. Tonally it's pretty dark, but it also feels like an old school coming of age adventure movie at times (think Goonies). Bill Skarsgard gives a uniquely terrifying performance as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, and the accompanying young actors all turn in convincing performances. The Bad: Uhh, there isn't any bad with this one. If you are prone to nightmares and scare easily, be careful I suppose! Recommended? Yes.

Almost a perfect steelbook. Almost.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not too disappointed with this but I'm a little bit. The only thing that I'm upset about is that when you open the inside of the packaging the discs are over the main image of Pennywise. You hardly even see him once the discs are out because of the opaqueness of the casing. Other than that I'm so happy that I got one of these limited edition it steelbooks the quality of the film is great and you get Blu-ray and DVD! Digital copy is included as well. The cover and rear of the outside is awesome. Well done Best Buy thanks so much!

Unique cover art for movie collectors
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To be honest I was expecting a different cover for the steel book they chose. I preordered this months ago but the cover that was displayed online was not what I received. I came to find out this edition is available only in the U.K. Even so it has a number of good extras and behind the scenes that give you an insight into the movie and book origins. Just wish the site would have been more accurate on what you actually are getting with this $32 steel book.

Long live Sai King in 4K UHD!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Being a long time fan and Constant Reader, I had my reservations about this particular title being remade. But after watching it, I found myself quite satisfied with the finished product for IT, Chapter One. Watching this in the 4K UHD format is AWESOME! Now, time needs to move on by so that we can see the conclusion in IT, Chapter Two in 4K UHD!

Clown horror
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You will give clowns a side eye after watching IT. Some of it was a bit silly, but overall not a bad movie. The acting was ok and there were some jump out of your seat scenes. Overall a good horror movie.

False Advertising
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I saw on the website and app that It was $5.99 for the Bluray + DVD + Digital Copy. Went to the store and purchased it. Got it home and opened it and it did not include the DVD or the Digital Copy. It is a great movie, but the fact that the website and app are showing one version and the ONLY version they have in store is BLURAY only is deceiving. Not worth it if it doesn't include the digital copy. That was the main reason I was even buying it. But since I opened it, I can't take it back. Though, there isn't an actual Bluray + DVD + Digital Copy in stores anyway, so I wouldn't be able to buy the correct version no matter what.

I did not get the DVD or Digital
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ordered this to get the digital version but all it had inside was the Blu-ray Disc and that’s it. They need to fix this so that people don’t buy it expecting more.

Mediocre Thriller
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I found the movie to be mediocre at best, with Bill Skargard's portrayal of Pennywise being just bizarre. Still it has some creep factor in it.

EXCELLENT REMAKE
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I say there's nothing more alarming than a knock at your door at three in the morning, and you open it, and there's a clown standing there. Stephen King knows this, and he lives to prey on our deep-seated fears. And what does SK have against Derry, anyway? He's written so much horror in Derry, never mind that it's a fictional town, his personal sandbox of grotesqueries. I read IT years and years ago when I was a kid, and it terrified me the same way THE EXORCIST terrified me. IT is my favorite SK read, and not just because it was my first ever SK novel. It is genuinely haunting and moving and gives you that feeling of worms squirming in your belly. I relished the heck out of the 1990 ABC teleplay; At the time, I thought Tim Curry as the over-the-top Pennywise was the best thing ever. But the 2017 version is better. Sure, because more years had gone by, they had to move up the time frame. Instead of the young Losers Club story arc set in 1957-1958, it's now set in 1988-1989. So, less Norman Rockwell, more, I dunno, Bob Ross? Doesn't matter. The screen remains redolent of old timey nostalgia and pulp fiction, of walkmans and poofy hair and leg warmers and sequels to A Nightmare on Elm Street. I do think seven kids may have been too many. I think Stanley got short-shrifted some. There are actually folks out there who believe that the Losers Club apes the gang from STRANGER THINGS when, really, it's the other way around. Now, if you'd mentioned THE GOONIES or STAND BY ME (which adapted SK's novella THE BODY), maybe you've a leg to stand on since those came before IT. Luckily, Finn Wolfhard, who is a leading character in STRANGER THINGS, plays a different role in IT. Beep, beep, Richie. Gratifyingly, these characters are drawn sharply enough that they don't feel clichéd.

A Must-Have for King Fans
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The second chapter to this mammoth reboot of an adaptation, of one of Stephen King's best books, comes out later this fall, and you can probably bet as sure as King will publish another novel soon, the studio will eventually release a complete set of Chapterss 1 and 2, probably just in time for Christmas. But with $8 of movie money to see Chapter 2 included in the sale price of this disc, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to refresh my memory of what sinister things are going on in the sewers of Derry, Maine. Chapter 1 deals with kids, seven outcasts and oddballs who stumble onto a dark Derry secret: living underneath the town in the rat-infested sewers is a killer disguised as Pennywise the Clown. As played by Bill Skarsgard (who also appeared in the Hulu-produced King-inspired series "Castle Rock") Pennywise is one creepy apparition, who appears from the murky depths behind sewer grates every so often to snatch unsuspecting little kids, whose disappearances the adults in town brush off as bad luck. But the Losers Club, led by Bill Denbrough, whose brother was one of the recently snatched, are determined to put an end to Pennywise once and for all. The cast of kids is uniformly excellent (some already veterans of this kind of material, having co-starred in the Netflix sensation "Stranger Things") and the period details are spot-on. Here's hoping that Chapter 2 will be just as deliciously twisted and creepy.

Two Words - DOLBY VISION
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This isn't a review of the movie - if you're considering buying this you already know you love the movie. This is a review of this specific format of the movie - 4K HD Ultra Blu-Ray. This is not just standard HDR, but includes the Dolby Vision format. (You must have a DV player and DV TV in order to view this format.) Dobly Vision enhances the visuals of this dark movie (there's a pun there if you think about it) and makes it an even better experience at home. On my OLED TV, this is amazing. Additionally, if you have an Atmos Sound system, this supports that as well. Definitely recommended version of this new classic horror film!

"IT" was great!
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a great movie. It was a lot better than what I thought it was going to be. There were parts that had me jumping for sure. I still prefer the original, as I like Tim Curry as an Actor, but this was a good follow-up in a remake version. Bill Skarsgård absolutely NAILED Pennywise!! I was blown away. He really captured the character in a brand new and terrifying way. I am looking forward to the sequel and hope it is just as well done. Anyone who is a fan of the horror genre should see it, and anyone who is simply curious should see it, because not only is it good as an adaptation and good as horror, it is also just a genuinely good movie.
