Initially I was very pleased with it and impressed with the ease of use and immediate benefits. However, after using it for two weeks and leaving it plugged in while moving the laptop it has a spotty, unreliable connection. Now, anything plugged into the USB ports will flicker in and out of existence and the power will alternate between battery and AC. I’ve verified the two USB-C ports on the laptop are fine, but the J5 adapter just doesn’t work right anymore. I’d say if you remove this anytime you pick up or move your laptop it might be fine, but how annoying would it be to disconnect and reconnect everything just because you moved a few feet or wanted to use the laptop on your lap? I wouldn’t recommend this overall.

I was thinking that it would be more solid when you plug it in but it just kind of sits there. It works well, but I'm afraid I'm going to knock it out of the computer ports every time I unplug something.

Awesome product for a MacBook Pro

Fits snug & adds extra ports that I really needed

I'm really happy that now I don't have to rely on the five or six little adaptors I have all over the house. This provides one unit that I have connected at all times to my Mac Book Pro. Works great. The only issue I have is if I have the HDMI connected, it sort of interferes with the video if I try to multi task. For example, I'll have a video playing on a separate big screen while I'm running DJ software at the same time and if I attempt to say, surf the internet or open other software the mouse pointer disappears. I called tech support and they responded Immediately so I'm pleased they stepped in and were very dedicated to solving the problem. Ultimately, I would definitely buy again. I've had it for about three months now, and all is good. The other issue is purely cosmetic, the unit is thicker than my 2017 Mac Book Pro so it isn't a seamless connection.

BUT when making this product for a $1200+ laptop they should’ve taken into consideration that the laptop would have a case. This product does not fully connect unless the laptop is bare.

However, this device I rate it the same 10 stars or better due to the durability and long lasting quality of the item being used. Individuals purchasing this item must make sure it is compatible with you laptop plug-in ports on the side of the MacBook Pro. Other than that, it is a great device to use on your Mini MacBook Pro. I would most definitely recommend this product to those using a Mac Pro mini Laptop computer.

Better than Apple adapter

Less issues with these than the apple usb-c HDMI adapters. Only downfall is it will not power some devices like an external dvd player.

My MacBook didn’t recognize the device and I had to get on the phone with apple team. However I it was a problem with my laptop. It is lightweight and fits anywhere.

Near perfect companion for MacBook Pro
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm pretty new to the Thunderbolt only MacBook Pro, but quickly decided using USB to Thunderbolt adapters is no fun. This is a much more conveinent method of connecting various accessories to a MacBook Pro and the included SD card reader is a bonus. The SD card reader is decent but not as fast as my Sony XQD/SD dedicated reader when connected to the Ultra Drive, so I'd probably only use it in a pinch. You have to insert the SD card upside down and it sticks out awkwardly as well. Overall, a must have accessory for the MacBook Pro.

But if you dont put any cases on your mac then its worth it.

Nice Dock - Works as expected

Dock allows you to charge thru as there is one available lightning port but keep in mind the other USB-C port is not a lightning port. Only thing missing is a ethernet port.

Great portable dock
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This jcreate portable dock has been a very nice accessory not only for the MacBook Pro but for the MacBook Air as well. The USB-A and HDMI are nice to have, and SD/microSD along with two C-type ports for USB 3.1 and Thunderbolt 3 offer a nice connectivity solution. It lacks an Ethernet port, but given it’s slim size it probably was not incorporated as it would’ve made the device thicker. A USB to ethernet adapter solves that problem. Due to the lack of ethernet I would give it 4 1/2 stars but since that’s not an option it’s still nice enough to gather 5.

For my first MacBook, I had to buy a dongle for every specific device I wanted to hook up. This lets you hook up multiple media using one convenient unit. I got it for half price.

Apple designed it with usb-c ports. An adapter is required for monitor connections, standard usb etc. This dock is great because it plugs directly into the existing ports and has additional ports on the side for usb-c, usb standard and micro sad and sd. It stays firmly in place. The one my company provided is a separate piece that has cables sticking out of it from each side. Not a fan of that style. This dock is much more convenient for plugging and unplugging daily use.

Worth the price

However this takes prolonged use so much better than I thought it would. Plugging in DVD players and CaC card reader only makes it slightly warm after hours of use
