I wouldn't stay powered up, or you would have to reset it from the computer. I would recommend this more for a computer with just adding usb smart drives or memory cards.

One printer can't be plugged into hub's port, only works into computer port. Thought the hub ports would give me more ports, but they don't work for every device you plug into it.

Best Buy had this hub available for same day curb side. One port is powered via an external power supply (provided). The provided USB cord is long enough that it does not interfere with moving the Surface from a vertical slant position to horizontal for writing as a tablet. Just what I needed to facilitate online instruction while hunkered down for "Shelter at Home". Curb side pick up was easy and very professionally handled.
