They do require drivers to be installed before you can use the ethernet and the USB C cord is a little short. I really like the passthrough power, if you've got a second power adapter this really is the perfect hub to allow you to use a single cable for your new system. We will buy more of these when we deploy more MacBooks.

My Lenovo only as one USB port and 1 extra micro C port, no ethernet port or HDMI so this was a needed device, Easy to install and use. Would have given a higher rating if I hadn't had to replace the 1st one I purchased.

You certainly are sharing my frustration with changing to the new single-plug-type system. Don't read any further and yes... you MUST get this accessory. It will save you from bringing a bunch of new plugs and it works GREAT as a docking station of sorts. I've got one on my desk that I leave attached to an external monitor via HDMI and an ethernet CAT5 plug. I've been using it for well over a month daily without issue. USB ports (2) both read and charge flawlessly. Look... you already spent how much on your MacBook Pro? Don't worry about the price-Just buy this and you'll be very satisfied.

It meets my needs: HDMI for large monitor, ethernet (vs using wireless connection) and two USB ports for a keyboard and mouse. 4 stars because I wish it had one extra USB port for an external hard drive for backing up the laptop's hard drive. I especially liked Best Buy's price match program and received a better price.

(Some assembly required...)" you can find yourself frustrated by the shrinking number of ports on your laptop. What was included in my last laptop is now here in this device and works flawlessly - HDMI, Ethernet, and 2 USB 3.0 ports. If you have a USB Type-C port, this will work for you. (Sidenote: the ONLY regular USB port that came with my laptop for some reason isn't powerful enough to charge my phone when I plug it in. This hub, especially with the power cable attached takes care of that deficiency, and more!)

Great for modern thin laptops!

This stylish product adds everything I need and costs less than buying two or three devices to cover its functionality and takes less space when traveling than multiple devices. I love my new Microsoft Surface 2. It is much lighter and thinner than the computer it replaces, but it lacks many of the ports that I need to connect to legacy devices and HDTV's. The HDMI port worked great for my Power Point presentations. I can also simultaneously connect to Gigabit Ethernet. It adds two more USB 3.1 ports and a USB C power port.

Grabbed it in a hurry. It has usb type c and was easy to setup. Just plug and go. I use it to display a laptop to a monitor and plug in a keyboard and mouse. Not really ports available for anything else.

I use a HP Spectre x350 Convertible 13" laptop that has a single USB port. I need to use that port to connect to an external memory device, so the j5create USB type-c adapter was a perfect solution! In fact, it replaced an older j5create standard USB adapter. In a period of low supply and many out-of-stock options, this device did not disappoint.

The hub works for both PC & Mac - have to download and install drivers prior to usage for the Mac to function correctly. Does tend to fell "cheap", as it appears to be metal but is nothing more than plastic. But works great at a fraction of the cost.
