While I like the size of the headphones and the 3 sized ear pieces to fit the different size ear canals, the volume adjustment on these are not that great. I have to turn them up to a volume level of 65 - 70 on my computer to hear the sound. Also they did not come with a USB charging plug for a wall outlet. I plugged them into the computer with the USB connector. Just means I have to get in the computer cabinet every time I want to use them.

Hello WallaceH - Thank you for writing a 4-star review about the Jabra Elite 4. We are glad you like the multiple ear gel sizes included with your device. For charging, users can use their computer USB ports or any wall outlet adapt with a rating of 5V and a max of 2A (10W). It is not recommended to charge the earbuds/case using a power supply with a higher voltage. I'm an audiophile by any means, but these ear buds sound amazing. I purchased these to replace a pair of Raycons that I lost in a recent move. While the Raycons did feel a little better in my ears, the sound quality of these is so much better!

Surprisingly Good Mid-priced Earbuds

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The Jabra Elite 4 Earbuds are solid mid-priced ($99.99 at the time of this review) earbuds. Sound quality is very good, especially after adjusting the equalizer in the Jabra Sound + app. Please don’t expect the same audio quality from $100 earbuds that you get from top end much more expensive earbuds. But for the price point the sound is surprisingly good.
The Jabra Elite 4 Earbuds were easy to set up. I downloaded the Jabra Sound + app and followed the instructions. It took a few minutes while the app updated the earbud firmware. But soon I could use the app to adjust the equalizer and adjust the ANC. During testing the ANC worked better than I expected for in-ear earbuds. I also set the earbuds up to use “Sidetone” which lets you hear your voice through the earbuds when using the microphone. I really prefer this. If I use cheap earbuds without this capability, I find myself talking much louder than necessary since I can’t hear myself naturally. I vote for “Sidetone”.
The Jabra Sound + app provides access to the manual. But Jabra also includes a printed datasheet that outlines the features and gives clear instructions for pairing, charging and the on-earbud controls. The controls are straightforward, but I recommend keeping the data sheet handy for a few days. A light press or a press and hold to the left or right earbud initiates different controls depending on if you are on a call or listening to music. I prefer these “tap” controls to the touch and swipe controls found on some other earbuds. These actually work first try. While the touch and swipe controls sometimes take a little practice.
My mic test for these was voice recognition on a language learning app as well as some phone calls where I asked the person on the other end of the call how clear I sounded. The mic passed both tests with voice recognition understanding me and my associates saying the mic sounded good. Not scientific, but it shows the microphones (4 of them per the manufacturer) perform well enough to meet my needs.
The Jabra Elite 4 Earbuds have single earbud functionality. You can use either earbud alone if you choose. This works well for me. I prefer to just use one earbud during extended teleconferences or when listening to podcasts while doing chores or working out. This also lets you use one earbud while charging the other.
The earbuds are comfortable and they seem secure. They do not have “wings” or loops. They just nestle into your ear(s). But surprisingly they stayed securely in my ears during a workout and a short run in my neighborhood. This and the ANC quality will vary depending on how well one of the three included sets of tips actually fit in your ears. The middle size ones work well for me.
The earbuds will maintain a connection to two devices at once. (Interestingly the included data sheet and the Jabra website both mention multipoint. But Best Buy does not mention multipoint in the specs for the Jabra Elite 4 earbuds.) I can leave them connected to my phone and my laptop at the same time. I’ve found all I need to do to switch from streaming music on my phone to audio on my laptop is simply pause the music on the phone. So it seems they do have multipoint and it works at least as well as other earbuds I’ve tested.
To be honest, I didn’t find anything wrong with these earbuds. They passed all of my tests and perform well especially considering the reasonable price point. The only thing I can find to complain about is that the case doesn’t include wireless charging. It must be charged with a USB-C charging cable. But considering a stated 28 hour battery life, I don’t think this is a problem.
In summary, the Jabra Elite 4 earbud performance is excellent and the price is quite reasonable for earbuds of this quality.

An Elite Upgrade

--- SETUP ---
The Jabra Elite 4 setup is quick and simple. Download the Jabra Sound+ app and the app will find the headphones for you. If it can’t, you can connect them like you would any other bluetooth device.
--- FEATURES ---
Water and sweat proof protection, Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), HearThrough ability, wind and noise protection, and a 7 hour battery life with extension of up to 28 if recharging in case.
--- PERFORMANCE AND EXPECTATIONS ---
These headphones are a better fit than the Elite 3, which I also have. I felt them more secure with rapid movement. As a dance instructor, having the earbuds stay in my ears while dancing is important.
The hearthrough ability was a favorite use of mine when I needed to share one headphone with my dance partner so that we could both practice in environments where we couldn’t play music out loud. This allowed us to hear the music but also hear each other if we needed to talk while practicing without removing our headphones.
Being able to tune out background noise through ANC is important to me. Sometimes, the dance studio where I practice or teach is playing different genres of music. The ANC feature allows me to tune other instructors and their genres out while I focus on my dance music. The battery lasts long enough for a full day of dance sessions + general purpose listening.
One of my favorite features is found in the app itself. The app allows you to finetune the ANC. How it works is, it measures the level of noise happening around you and adjusts the ANC as best needed for your left or right ear.
The carrying case recharges with an included USB-C cable and isn’t too bulky for your pant pockets or a backpack side pocket. The magnetic clasp of the lid is secure enough, though I wish it was a bit stronger. I also wish the case had a loop that I could run a cable through so I could just hang the case from my backpack, but this doesn’t affect the functionality of the Jabra buds. Overall, I do prefer them over my elite 3.
--- APPROVAL ---
If you are an active headphone user, these stay in your ear while you move, sound great, and has a lot of additional features in the app.

I’ll start my review by saying that my 4 star review is more like a 4.5 star. These earbuds aren’t the coolest or the flashiest looking but they have everything you could ask for in earbuds these days. They have a pretty good active noise cancellation function. My workplace is loud, and I have to wear hearing protection for most of my time there. When on my breaks I like to sit and listen to some music or watch a quick YouTube video and these earbuds have been great for blocking out the loud sounds at work. When I used them to talk on the phone, I am able to take out the left earbud and use the right only to have my conversation. The people I spoke to didn’t complain once about not being able to hear so I think it’s safe to say they work good for phone calls. I’ve used these most while working out at the gym. I enjoy the subtle look of the earbuds. Nothing to draw attention to me and they stay put in my ears while doing cardio. I decided to use the silicone tips that came pre installed, i sometimes prefer a tighter fit and seal but these fit comfortably so I stuck with them. Audio quality is pretty good. Not the best I’ve ever listened to music with, but I would say they make my top 10 list as far as sound quality. I’m a bit of an headphone / speaker snob though so keep that in mind. I think most people would be satisfied with the sound quality of these earbuds. I would say they are “balanced”. I turned on the bass boost EQ within the app and the bass still isn’t very pronounced to my ears. And that’s the only reason I give them a 4 star rating. I prefer some oomf when I’m listening to music. And low to mid volumes, the bass is very subtle and low. That being said, they do have nice mids and treble. I listen to a lot of rock, and guitars come through crunchy as they should. For podcasts and videos, I would say they are perfectly fine. Battery life is excellent, I’ve been using them for about 4 days on the same charge. I believe they claim to get you 22 hours of battery life from the case and it sounds about right. Mine are still kicking strong after about 8-10 hours of use. All in all, if you are looking at these and they are on your shortlist I would recommend them. I like that the case is small and fits in any pocket. The earbuds are very comfortable, have excellent noise cancellation and battery life is great and most importantly they are water / sweat proof and they come with a 2 year warranty. (If I’m not mistaken) Unheard of when it comes to earbuds.

There are a lot of more expensive earbuds out there and I am sure there are not on the top of the list for many folks, but my wife and I both think they sound really good.
The touch controls are easy to understand and use and the enclosed additional ear tips are more than likely going to provide nearly everyone with a great fit in the ear.
I have worn them and listened to music, took phone calls etc in and about the house. And outside cutting grass with a battery operated lawnmower while cutting grass. The sound canceling works quite well blocking out the majority of all but the loudest unwanted noises.
Of course that is an adjustable feature that allows you to let thru ambient sounds when desired or needed or block out everything when its safe for some music only "Me" time.
The Jabra App is needed to make use of the full features and subsequent software and firmware updates from Jabra and provides you with a complete users guide and help right at your fingertips on your phone as you are out and about.
The one wish I have about them is that I wish they were wirelessly chargeable, that is just a personal preference of mine.
They charge up just fine with the very short USBA to USBC cord that is provided or any other cord with the same ends. No charging block is provided with the earbuds, but it does have a short charging cord to hook into your own USB power source.
They are IP57-graded water and sweat proof protection rated so poolside use, light rain while out and about or some sweat are not going to damage these earbuds.

Great earbuds with few drawbacks

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The Jabra Elite 4 wireless buds pack a lot of value into a $100 package and I am quite impressed. They're feature rich and are light on drawbacks.
----What's Great----
-Active noise canceling - it works quite well on droning things humming appliances or if you were to be on an airplane. That said, I think there's a misconception they cancel random sounds, which no ANC does. They also offer a hear-through mode which engages a monitor mic so you can hear your voice and other external sounds, which is nice. You can shut both options off as well.
-Advanced bluetooth: these allow you to pair with multiple devices and switch automatically, which is cool. You can listen to music on one thing and then take a phone call automatically. You can also use either earbud individually, which is better than my previous bud where there was one that was the "parent" bud so to speak. It was either L&R or just L. These are L or R.
-Jabra app: I jave earbuds that retailed for more than these that had virtually no EQ settings which was frustrating. The jabra app has plenty of sound presets and an EQ slider to dial the sound in just right for whatever you may be listening to.
-Sound quality (calls): calls sound great and I'm told my voice sounds good through them too.
-Size (case and buds): both are very sleek, out of the way and small. I love how portable the case is and how low-profile the buds are.
----What's ok----
-Battery life is fine. 5.5 in the buds and 22 hrs in the case is acceptable, but not as good as 100 hours that other brands might offer in the case.
-Sound quality (music): I will say they sound good. Better than good even. Maybe this is a product of the size and they're simply limited by physics, but the bass is kind of lacking, even with the EQ dialed up to boost bass. These will not rumble your head, but they do sound crisp and clear
--What's bad---
Honestly there's not much to list here. I guess the only thing I would say is there is nothing protecting the interior of the bud like a mesh screen or anything. The little silicone earpieces are also very shallow so if you get any earwax in them (yeah I know, gross), that wax is basically going to nearly be in the bud itself. Sometimes the comfort isn't top notch either, but nothing awful. Might just need different tips.
To conclude, these are really great for their price. Sure, they're not perfect, but you'd be remiss to expect perfection at $100. Great all around buds. Recommended by this reviewer.

Outstanding Noise Canceling
|

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The Jabra Elite 4 is an amazing product from its packaging to its sound. Once you receive the item, its package is small, but it includes the charger and two extra silicone pads. The case of the earbuds has a smooth finish and very light weight which I like because most cases are bulky and harder to store or place in pockets. The earbuds are a little too big, but they do not fall so easily and you don’t need to adjust as often.
The earpieces for earbuds are actually very easy to use and the app, Jabra Sound+, allows for you to customize the sound. You can make it neutral which gives you the opportunity for everything to be equally heard or have the bass be priority when hearing music. You are also able to do noise cancellation by pressing the left earbud and honestly, it really does cancel your surroundings. If you study or need work done without having distracting background noises, the
Jabra Elite 4 eliminates those problems for you.
The app itself is free and there are no additional fees unless you want to upgrade, but really there is no need as it already provides all functions to fix your sound quality. One thing I really love though is the fact that I can put my music to the highest volume and no sound leaks out. This is a huge plus because this is an issue to even bigger brands that sell similar products. And, another plus would be the fact that it can be easily paired without having the hassle to keep turning on and off bluetooth to connect to your device.
The Jabra Elite 4 is a great investment especially when deciding when looking for wireless earbuds that can cancel your surroundings and give you a full experience when listening to your favorite music. I definitely recommend this to anyone who is either in school at the moment or those who have at home jobs.

The in ear fit is pretty good. It's snug and secure. Sound is great from music to movies. Battery unfortunately tends to differ percentage wise from left to right buds. Notified Jabra cs and they said that can happen sometimes. But the difference was 15% between the buds equally charged fully 100%. For some reason though the left bud started to lose battery life quicker. I sent them an screenshot image of the battery life for the buds. They said the quickest resolution is to take them back and exchange them.
