I have read the Lee Child book series upon which this is based, and this did a decent job channeling the original work. I still find the idea of Tom Cruise playing a character who is almost his exact opposite physically to be dubious, put aside from needed to stretch the suspension of disbelief a little more than usual, he does OK. I do think that the writers, having started from a chronologically later book, might paint themselves into a corner in future sequels.

Having read all of Lee Child's Jack Reacher books I was at first a little dismayed at the casting of Tom Cruise in the title role. He doesn't fit the author's description of the character at all. But I needn't have worried. Cruise manages to make the part all his own and the result is an action-packed, thrilling and believable movie that I recommend without reservation. I'm looking forward to buying the sequel.

I had wanted to see Jack Reacher when it was in the theaters but missed my window of opportunity. I'm a fan of Tom Cruise and he didn't disappoint as Jack Reacher, I tend to like Cruise best as the cocky type, think Top Gun, Mission Impossible, etc. and the Reacher character played right into his wheel house. Good action, fair plot, and kept me interested up to the end. Plus a bargain price.

I think that "Jack Reacher" was one of the greatest action films of all-time and it was also one of my favorite action films of all-time. I have seen and enjoyed this film several times and I also think that "Jack Reacher" had a lot of entertaining, exciting and enjoyable action, mystery and suspense including an original and exciting personal storyline.

Not as good as the 1st but still a must see if you saw 1 you must see where 2 takes you

An ex military sniper is arrested for killing five random people and severely beaten. Before he slips into unconsciousness he asks for Jack Reacher. Jack arrives and notices that things don't add up. The evidence is too easily found. Someone is following him and when hired goons try to get rid of him he knows for sure something bigger is going on.

Fast, Fabulous, and Fierce. Lee Child's book-to-film character - Jack Reacher - is a one man army; a retired MP major who's fierce and intelligent, and uses unconventional methods and means to right wrongs from the top brass down. He doesn't go looking for trouble. But it never ceases to find him.

At some point in life there's no reason for a guy to be filmed with his shirt off and for Tom Cruise that was probably five years before this movie was filmed. Some humorous moments, the standard five-on-one fight scene, and not a bad plot. Bought it because Rosamund Pike is in it.

For those who just watch this because it is a fun story with a good dose of action it will be very enjoyable. For those of you who have read the books, you will start to pull it apart probably from the very beginning. But I found this to be a rather enjoyable adaptation.

Jack Reacher is one sharp guy who knows how to get answers and find the real killer. He doesn't back down from a fight and preservers against impossible odds. If you liked the Jack Reacher book that this movie is based on you'll like the movie.

Tom Cruise is perfect as the all elusive " Jack Reacher ". His deductive reasoning skills, combat ability, combined with his ability to disappear at will! all prove this. Fast acting, Action packed! Well worth watching.

Tom Cruise may not fit the bill if you compare the way Jack Reacher is described in the books, but he makes a pretty compelling case in this movie. It's got laughs, some good action, and an interesting mystery.

As much as I really can’t stand Tom Cruise anymore, he does a really good job in this movie. Not sure he was the best choice for this character, but he pulls it off. Worth a few bucks anyway.

This is one of a long line of great action/adventure movies that Tom Cruise has done recently - Mission Impossible, Edge of Tomorrow, Oblivion etc. It was nice to see a recent performance by Robert Duvall.

We bought this to take on a trip to fill some nights without plans. We watched it twice, and saw things the second time around that was missed the first time. Looking forward to the next in the series

If you're a Tom Cruise fan this is great. It's disappointing that the Jack Reacher character that is vividly described in all the books, isn't what Mr Cruise can portray. But a good movie anyway

I wanted to see what the fuss was all about, get Jack Reacher! It was a great, suspense filled movie, Tom Cruise, style. I enjoyed the twists and layers of mysteries... It was a good movie!

Jack Reacher isn't one of the big name blockbusters, but it probably should have been. The plot is gripping, the characters engaging, the story compelling. Worth watching again and again.

I have read all 20+ Jack Reacher novels and Tom Cruise's physical stature does not even come close. But he makes up for it with the mess with me and you will lose attitude.

We can never get enough of Tom Cruise....or Jack Reacher.... Exciting and relaxing at the same time... for one cannot think of every day thoughts while watching this intriguing film.
