As someone who typically spends far too much time researching electronics before purchase, I hastily bought a Samsung 3.1 soundbar on Black Friday. Needless to say, my death of due diligence was evident once I hooked it up. The sound was barely an improvement over my Samsung 8000 television and the subwoofer hardly made a thump. So to Google search I went, and voila ... for a little extra money I purchased a bar the internet said rocked, and boy it does. So crisp, so clear ... and the bass. I think the reverberations showed up on a local seismograph. Anything else you need to know?

Found this little monster on sale black friday or something. So fantastic value for the great output and build of their mid tier soundbar. The 10 inch subwoofer is down firing and pretty impressive build quality for a generic home theater sub. Would impress most people who aren't audio junkies. I think I bought this for 175 $ great sound to money value

I did quite a bit of research before deciding on this model. I have been pretty pumped on it. It replaced an LG 2.1 channel model I had and it outperforms it. On the LG model if the bass was up it seemed to make it harder to hear conversations. The JBL is much better in my opinion as far as that goes compared to the model I replaced. I like the different sound options such as voice if you are watching a program and are having trouble hearing what is being said. However, I generally watch on the movie setting and have no issues. I also like the "surround on" feature which I believe cuts the top speakers on and off. It makes a considerable difference in a good way.
It has been mentioned a lot on this model but this thing does have some serious bass with the subwoofer. I like the extra bass for the explosions etc in movies. I don't even turn the subwoofer up to halfway and it has plenty of bass.
I had considered getting standing speakers and separate subwoofer etc and doing a real surround sound but that seems like a bit of a hassle with the wiring and amp etc. I didn't want to do any drilling to run wires. I also like the sleekness of sound bars.
My only complaint and the reason I didn't give a full 5 stars is that on some shows and sometimes when playing music through bluetooth with my phone I occasionally hear popping from the subwoofer. I don't know what is causing that exactly. It has popped randomly at times loud enough to startle me. I have found this pretty infrequent though. Could be the quality of the sound that the movie/show was recorded in? I am connected to my TV via a high end HDMI cable to the ARC port.

I was blown away at the sound quality of this setup. The highs and mids are very nice. Not high end but great quality. The sub will compete very nice with any 10” sub out there. Gives the movie theater feel to movies and sounds great with music. For the price I think it is hard to beat.

this sound bar was easy to set up and sounds great. It replaces a 5.1 system with Onkyo, JBL, Polk and sounds better than the surround sound system. Huge base from sub and the sound bar is very good. It is a little light on the mid range, but otherwise excellent. Great buy if you can get it at a sale price.

One of the best things I ever bought. This became my price possession, I love my JBL speaker and bass. This thing rocks. You movie experience will jump from wherever it is now to a hundred fold. It’s like sitting in a movie theater, the bass just comes out of think. This speaker is hands down the best, on different occasions family friends came over and happened to see and hear this speaker and went straight out and buy one. Absolutely the truth; not getting paid for this remark.
It was recommended to me by a Bestbuy worker and he was flat out- dead on. I don’t even enjoy watching any kind of movies or shows in my bedroom anymore, it must be in my living room or I ain’t watching. News I will watch in my bedroom and weather channel that’s it. But my movie watching is for my Cinematic AMC Living Room.

sound is great and very responsive.. base is loud and it rumbles the floor if it too loud.. Makes u feel like ur part of the movie.. and music sounds great and full. I had no problems with hook up and the Sub is already sync with the sound bar when u turn it on..

I like this system overall and it has substantial sound. I took away a star for a few reasons,
1) sometimes the inputs glitch out and you have to go back through them, or reset to get to the appropriate input.
2). Although the sound is decent, and the lows are great. The clarity and “mid-low” range is lacking in my opinion. I would routinely have to compensate for dialogue I could barely hear by turning it up a few levels, but when action happened it would be obnoxiously too loud. This would cause for a compromised viewing experience because you have to play “remote pilot” to change levels throughout the movie to match what’s happening within the scene.
Overall a decent system with 2 minor shortfalls that may be negligible to me goon based on the person.

I purchased this to pair with an older LED TV that was being moved into my bedroom. I wanted a little more sound being as how at times I would watch 3D movies on my PS3, however I didn't want to go through the hassle of having an entire home theater setup in my bedroom. I thought about the JBL 5.1 system and had a chance to listen to it because a friend of mine purchased it, but after talking with him he regretted the decision and wish he had purchased the 3.1 because they do not even use the 2 surround speakers.
I enjoy the sound the 3.1 makes. The powered subwoofer that comes with it is bass-y and punch-y which is how I like it. I have not turned the volume up very high being as how I live in an apartment complex, but the sound that comes out of it is clear and provides a decent front stage for close quarters.
I've been very happy with the quality and the sound of this product.

Fantastic Soundbar

The JBL 3.1 soundbar has far exceeded my expectations. The soundbar itself sounds great at low and high volumes with little to no distortion when turned up close to max, but by far and away the most impressive part is the sub. The 10” wireless sub that comes with the soundbar takes the sound quality to a whole new level. The sub literally shakes the floor when I have music bumping on it, so much so that I’ve already received complaints from neighbors who I share a wall with. Also the soundbar when plugged into my TV using digital optical only requires one remote to control both at the same time which wasn’t a big deal, but definitely a nice bonus.
All in all, fantastic soundbar with tremendous bass and clear dialogue. 100% recommend this soundbar to anyone and everyone.

I was looking at sound bars for a while but couldn’t decide which one. There are so many out there. I have the jbl charge 4 and love it, so I went to my local Best Buy to hear the 3.1 out. I really like how this bar preformed compared to the rest of the sound bars that were on display. When I set up the jbl 3.1 in my living room it sounded even louder and with a lot more bass than it did in the store. I’m really happy with this purchase.

Bought this sound bar on sale for $270.00. For that price you can’t really beat it. Awesome subwoofer included but lacking in the mid range from the sound bar speakers. Overall quality is good and am satisfied with my purchase.

Researched numerous sound bars and found the JBL 3.1 was the best system for the price. After purchasing our first system we were so impressed with the sound and ease of use and easy set up we purchased two additional systems.
