As another piece in my personal theater, I needed a speaker package that would provide the sound I was looking for in the price range I could afford. I was able to listen to these in the store, which were placed right next to the speakers I originally came in to buy. The speakers I came in to buy were powered by a more powerful receiver than the these speakers were being powered by. Hearing these speakers in person sold me on them immediately, and though the price was a little more, they were still within budget. This is the first speaker system I have bought that has included a subwoofer, and the difference was immediate. I have them plugged into a Yamaha receiver (see other reviews) and the sound is fantastic. Watching movies is a joy. I have seen other reviews where the plastic stand were listed as a 'con' but I would have to disagree. I was not expecting the box to include speaker stands in the first place, so seeing them when I opened the box was just a bonus for me. The stands are more rubber than plastic, and they will do the job as long as you don't move them around or bump them too much. I won't be using the stands too much longer as I plan to wall-mount them soon. So it was another bonus for me when I realized that the package included wall-mounts as well. I have not used them, so I do not know how durable they are, but I will assume that they will work just fine. Both of these items (stands, wall-mounts) were factored into my budget as extra accessories, so having them included with the speakers frees up some more budget. The box also includes plenty of speaker wire to get you started, but I will not be using it for long only becuase I intend to upgrade the speaker wire and run it through the wall. Basically, everything you need to take the speakers out of the box and listen to them is included. If you can get to a store and listen to these speakers, I would recommend it. With both my TV and speakers, I did my research online (thoroughly) and went into the store expecting to walk up and purchase the items. Both times, after viewing/listening to other products, I walked away with a different TV/speaker system and I could not be happier. I have learned that I can only rely on specs so much, because meeting certain requirements is nice, but it doesn't matter if I am not happy with what I am actually going to hear or see.

I got these on sale to replace a set of Onkyo Home Theater speakers. I connected them to a new Yamaha 100W/channel 5.1 receiver and the sound is excellent (much better than my old ones). The sub is exceptionally nice and delivers nice clean bass. The satellite speakers are also very well constructed and with matching surround speakers give you well balanced surround sound when listening to music. The supplied hardware is nice and evens out the package. The only thing I had to do was buy some black screws/anchors to mount the wall mounts to the drywall. This speaker set could rank right up there with others that cost much more! This is my first set of JBLs, but I am sold.

These speakers sound great for the price. I was amazed at how well they are constructed and they compliment any home theater nicely with the black and silver trim. They don't look exotic and blend right into the room, which is what you want. The sub was bigger than I expected when I took it out of the box, so plan for it when you buy. I hid my sub away behind a Lazy-boy chair in the corner of the room, sounds great. Comes with everything you need to mount on the wall, stands, or shelves. Not to mention they are crystal clear and the sub produces rich, booming bass. I highly recommend getting a spool of heavier speaker wire that is copper instead of silver to hook this up with, and a heavier sub cable. The wires that come with this are just too thin and flimsy. The heavier wire I bought was a tight squeeze through the holes in the stands for the wire, but I managed to get it in without modifying the stand. Heavier guage wire was also a problem with the terminal posts, because its spring action, but after twisting the wires super tight, I also managed to get them into the terminal posts without modifying the product. Overall an excellent buy, just upgrade to some better speaker wire.

    Don't worry about this system

I was replacing my whole TV and sound system which included a 20 year old Sharp stereo that had a pair of huge, but nice sounding three way floor speakers. Wanting to upgrade to a surround sound system, I was afraid I wouldn't get the music quality I wanted out of a standard surround sound system. I went with a basic Yamaha RX-V361 5:1 receiver and got this JBL system on sale. I installed the front and rear speakers high on wooden cross beams of my vaulted ceiling family room and placed the center channel inside a TV stand with a special place just for the center channel. The sub sits on the floor right by the stand. Once I got everything hooked up and pointing the way I wanted it, I popped my favorite Nickelback CD in my CD player and cranked it up. OMG! It sounded AWESOME! The sub has great bass and the speakers can handle a lot of power. Same story with DVD veiwing. The Sharp speakers are now in the garage. Nuf said.

For those of you that are looking for a simple, yet great sounding set, I can't recommend these highly enough! I had a HTIB 5.1 system for one day and wasn’t impressed, so I decided to try these instead. First of all, the set includes a sub cable and speaker wire (enough for a moderately sized room), as well as shelf stands, wall mounts, and speaker stand adapters, which makes the initial setup very simple. I have these connected to a Yamaha receiver I purchased with them and am, to say the least, extremely impressed with the sound quality! I actually had to turn the sub volume down, which is good as most systems even close to this price range include subs that are not even close in comparison! I am very happy with these speakers and would not hesitate to buy them again.

I've only had them few weeks. But they or not my first surround speaker system, the best I've had so far. The only thing I didn't like was the spring loaded wire clips on back of satellites, I would of liked RCA plugs instead. But thats a minor problem as the system looks and sounds great. I'm impressed with them, Having the speaker wire and stands included was a great help. The sub rocks......

I bought these speakers (along with a Sony STR-DG910 receiver) to replace a HTIB. Build Quality - For a sub $500 system the build quality is outstanding. The speakers are heavier than they look and have outstanding fit and finish. Speaker wire and wall brackets were included along with both mini stands and brakets to connect to floor stands. You can purchase floor stands matched to these speakers along with rear surrounds to complete your 7.1 system. Sound - The difference is sound compared to the old HTIB is amazing. The subwoofer sits over on the side of the room and minds its own business until it is needed. Once it is called on it makes its presence known. All five speakers are clear and appear to have great range. Conclusion - Best Buy runs these speakers on sale a lot. But even at their regular price they are a bargain. If you are looking to build a nice home theater at a reasonable price these are a great way to get started.

I paired this system up with a Harmon Kardon AV-347 receiver...WoW!!! The quality of sound is unbelievable! I am a picky guy when it comes to sound quality and component performance...these are the real deal. Do not let the peak power rating fool you, these speakers handle 50+ watts RMS with no problem. I thought the 150 watt, 10" subwoofer may not deliver the bass response I wanted...IT DOES! Definitely worth the money. I would recommend this speaker system if you want high quality sound...not JUST an affordable price.

I bought this speaker system as a birthday gift for myself from gift cards and a little of my own cash over a month ago. I researched it fairly extensively before I bought it like I do with most large purchases (to me anything over $100 is a large purchase). There were hardly any reviews when I researched it. The only ones I found were here @ "Best Buy", so I promised myself I would write a review to hopefully help some one else out. I have always liked the Infinity line of speakers and when I found out that JBL was a part of the Harmon family my eyes perked up. Although I am partial to the Harmon family of audio I kept an open mind in my research and looked at Onkyo, Yamaha, Bose & Klipsch. JBLs had a bigger 10" sub of 150watts (neighbors don't like it) compared to others at 6" or 8" and those that were 10" were only 100 watts. The sensitivity was ok @ 88dB (higher the better=less power needed), would have preferred a little higher. The system comes with everything you need to set it up with wire (16 or 18 gauge I believe), wall mounts & floor stand mounts. I went out and purchased better wire (monster cable about $20 for 50') for the back speakers due to the cheap wire and the distance it had to travel from Receiver to speakers. I live in an apt so the wire had to run with the contours of the wall behind the baseboards. A good rule of tumb is anything over 25' of travel 12 or 14 gauge is best for conductivity. The wires were a little thick to fit through the holes & spring clips so I purchased connector pins ($1.50 for a set of 4). Stock wires worked just fine for the front 3 speakers. I didn't use the wall mounts (apt once again). Intead I purchased 2 universal stands which I found out dont work for these speakers. I did get them to work with a little improvising. After all is said and done the system sounds great using my AVR 1705. In watching movies you can hear the wind rustling the grass, Window/glass breaking is incredible (I caught my wife looking to the window), bullets wizzing by make you want to duck...I could go on & on. As for music it sounds like you are right there at the concert in the front row. So in conlusion this is a really awsome system that sounds great, easy to hook up , has everything to get you started & on your way to an incredible listening experience. So "Watcha Waitn' 4" go get it.

I have to start off by saying I'm a perfectionist, frugal, and a bit indecisive. So, hopefully you can appreciate the depth and research I did in deciding on this 5.1 system. I started out purchasing this speaker system over a month ago for $379. Luckily for me Best Buy had several sales within the last month and honored the sales price of $299 which is a steal for this system. I started out complimenting this system with an Onkyo SR505 receiver. Coming from a 11 year old 110 watt per channel Pioneer receiver coupled w/ 2 250 watt JBL Northridge towers I wasn't really happy with the new Onkyo set up. Didn't get a ton of sound. After doing some research and shopping I lucked out and purchased a 85 watt Denon 787 on clearance at a competitor. After hooking this receiver up it sounded much clearer but still not a ton of sound. Finally after researching everything I ever wanted to know about decibals, impedence, frequency response, etc. I finally headed back to Best Buy. I took a look at some of the $1,500 + Denon systems and realized they sounded about the same as my set up. It was then the Magnolia Theater salesman helped me in determining the best set up for my receiver. I can now say I'm a happy camper. Just finished watching Transformers and all I have to say is....AWESOME!!! Not only did my dog go and hide under the bed from the thunderous sound of the sub but the satellites were awesome and didn't distort once. I had my sub set at -8, center at +5, L&R at +4, and SL&SR at +7. This system nicely complimented my 12x16 ft. living room. My girlfriend was very impressed and I have to say I'll be hard pressed to go back to the movie theater after watching movies on this system. Take it from me you won't go wrong with these speakers.

I just upgraded from my Sony/Polk system and what a difference! This system sounds so much better! We went to Frys, RC Wiley and Bestbuy, listened and researched tons of speakers From Polks to Infinity and Harmon Kardon and found that the JBL system SCS500.5 were the best all around spearkers. These are paired up with a Harmon Kardon AVR 247.

Very nice speaker package. Great value for the money. Once you feel the weight and remove the speaker grills, you will be pleasantly surprised at what is in these speakers. Build quality is very nice. All speakers are matched for seamless surround sound. I am using these JBL's with a Harman Kardon Avr-247. I added in wall speakers to make it a 7.1 system, the matching JBL Satellites that you can purchase separately for a 7.1 system are a little to costly compared to what you pay for the 5.1 speaker package. The sound these speakers in my opinion is excellent. I have them in a 30'x20' home theater room. The speakers come with brackets to wall mount which also can be swiveled and locked for precise speaker direction. I am using this in a dual subwoofer system so I cannot comment on its sub alone, but it keeps up with my 12" MTX and you can really feel the floor shake from all directions now. Overall a Great System, With quality sound.

After reading the reviews, I decided to buy these speakers. The only issue I had with them is the connection on the back. The hole is a little small for the speaker wire I used. I did not use the supplied wire as most of the reviews I read said not to use it. Once I hooked them up to my new Yamaha receiver (also purchased from Best Buy!) I was amazed by the clarity of sound from such small speakers. The subwoofer rocks the house, literally. I have several railroad DVDs and this system makes it sound like the train is coming right through the living room! I would recommend these speakers highly. Definitely worth the money!

I bought and connected this speaker system to a Harmon Kardon AVR 247. Harmon Kardon is the company who makes the JBL line of sepakers so it only makes sense that these would go perfectly together. The sound is absolutley fantastic and comes with a 10" powerful sub. (Can't beat that!!!!) Very Nice!
