There is nothing close to this sound quality within this price range. The small speakers are very clear, but the best part of this package is the subwoofer. The speakers also come with wall mounts so you don’t have to spend any extra money.

Please excuse me if this is a little long winded, but I have to let you know what you're missing :) I've contemplated and studied, seemingly every "Home Theater in a Box", 5.1/7.1 speaker systems available over the last 3 months. I've thought of building a system piece by piece as well. Essentially that's kind of what I did. I first bought a great receiver on clearance at Best Buy, Denon AVR-790 for $199! But working with a limited budget(Bose, Klipsch, Mirage etc, out of my price range) I knew I would be hard pressed to find a great set of speakers...or so I thought! I listened to a JBL system at a "different" store and couldn't believe the sound quality versus so-called higher end systems. So I had made my mind up, I was going to go with JBL. I searched online for JBL systems trying to find the best deals and while browsing, came across this system, Model #AEH50 at a MUCH higher price(more than double). It was being sold by a home theater company called Leviton, who put their touches on the aesthetics of this system. But while pricing, I saw it was being sold in the Best Buy Outlet Center for $219.99! Right in my price range. Pulled the trigger immediately! The sound quality of this sytem is amazing. I hear little details in movies I've watched before and it's like I'm watching them again for the 1st time! I only have the subwoofer set to 60%(WAY more than enough) watching Blu-Rays(Iron Man 2) and you feel like everything is happening in your living room! The highs are very crisp and the subwoofer is "down-firing" and provides outstanding lows w/o distorting your experience. The speakers come with 1st class wall mounts that can be adjusted in any direction and also included is an RCA cable for your powered subwoofer. There is NO speaker wire included, but most systems come with 18 gauge wire that will impede the performance of your speakers anyway. This system also has a 5 year warranty from the factory, something you don't see very often is a company that stands behind their product. If you are in the market for a 5.1 speaker system and are on the fence about this product, have no fear...buy with confidence. Don't miss out on this "Hidden Gem" in the Outlet Center. Buy it before they realize it can be sold for twice as much!

As an avowed Bose advocate, I was relying on research to sway my opinion to try the JBLs. After connecting the system to my HT-R280 Onkyo reciever - I was taken aback by the clarity and power the system produces. For $189 - there just is not a better value!!

I have spent many hours in front of very good stereo systems since I was a kid. I have even built my own speakers and subwoofers with very high end components and meticulously planned boxes. Needless to say I love hearing crisp clear music with depth and range of sound. That being said I now have 5 kids and had to stay within budget for a home theater system to go with our new TV. These speakers fit the bill and with reviews here at Best Buy and other sites I decided to give them a whirl. WOW! They have very good range and have made Adele, Guns & Roses and Vivaldi sound wonderful. As well as having good surround sound charactersitcs with movies. For a basic surround sound and sound system I cannot recommend this system highly enough. Well done JBL.
