I'm cheap. I mean, my license plate reads I am codo (that's a Spanish word for cheap). I never thought in a million years I would spend close to $500.00 for a bluetooth speaker. But sometimes, it's just worth it. Since I chase deals and low prices, the first BT speaker I bought was the Harmon Kardon Onyx Studio 8 that was on sale at T-mobile for $199.00! Wow, what a deal, right? Wrong. While it had decent volume and some low end punch, it just wasn't loud enough outdoors. So I returned it the same day. I was going to buy the JBL Partybox Encore Essential that they had on sale for $229.00, but it, too, wasn't loud enough. Then, I went to Best Buy looking for the Ultimate Ears Hyperboom. I was ready to spend $400.00 for it, but I saw the Sony SRS XG500 for a crazy low price of $199.00, so I decided to get it. It was okay loud on the demo stand compared to the Hyperboom (there wasn't a Boombox 3 nearby to compare) so I thought this was the speaker for me. When I was checking out, the salesperson told me I had a smoking deal on the Sony, but that if I wanted more bass and volume, I should have considered the Boombox 3. It was $500.00, but oh so worth it according to him. I wish he didn't tell me that... I brought the Sony home and used it for almost a week. It was decent, but the bass wasn't that strong and the highs weren't that prominent (that's what audiophiles call a warmer sound). The LED lights on the passive radiators were too gimicky for me since you really couldn't see it and it took away from the battery life. I went to the Best Buy in Fullerton and sampled the Boombox 3. OMG! It hit hard, was loud and sounded better than the Sony. So, I returned the Sony and walked out with the Boombox 3. Pairing was easy, but the app wasn't as detailed as Sony's with only a bass, mid and treble EQ. It could also pair with two phones at the same time, so my wife and her iPhone could pair along with me and my Galaxy. Of note, her iPhone produced a louder sound than my Samsung... Range was excellent with almost 20 feet on the beach from my phone to the speaker with no drop outs. Charging was easy and relatively fast (6 hours for a full charge) and the battery life was about 13 hours at loud volumes. For 2 days at the river at about 70-80% volume, we still had battery life left. The shape of this thing is its major drawback. It rolls around and I have to shove it between towels or pillows in the back of our Jeep or van to keep it from rolling. The weight and heft of this thing gets old, too, especially when you're carrying beach chairs, a cooler, an EZ up and beach toys. I got a strap from Amazon that freed up my hands while letting me keep the Boombox close (I'm afraid someone might steal it). I use a bicycle lock to keep it secure, especially at the beach, when I'm in the water, since this thing cost a grip. But for the amount of sound enjoyment we get, it was well worth it. I've even paired it with my Hisense 85" 4K TV and it was a pretty good soundbar. With the top off of the Jeep, I can stream to both my Jeep stereo and the Boombox and the combined sound is excellent. While I didn't like the price, I'm in love with the sound and quality of it. I was at the river on a crowded weekend and there were families around me blasting their music. It was really tight and we were packed in under our EZ ups. My son said he couldn't hear the Boombox from the other speakers, but that was intentional. I didn't want to blow out the other people who were there first. However, I knew that I could. The other families had speakers that sounded tinny with only moderate bass that was muddy sounding, especially when turned up. When I was packing up for the day, the guy next to me asked me to turn up my Boombox. When I did, you couldn't hear the other two speakers on either side of me and the bass was much more punchy and defined than the other speakers. This speaker is like driving a Ferrari on the street. You know you could beat most any car at a stop light, but you smile knowing you could without having to prove yourself. The Boombox is similar. I know I could blow out most other BT speakers, but I don't have to prove it to know it sounds better. I just know.

The bass is absolutely wild indoors! Haven’t tested outdoors yet but I’m sure it will perform well. I have 2 JBL Extreme 3s as well that I pair with the Boombox and it is incredible. I feel it’s well worth the price. Honestly kind of makes me feel like the Xtreme 3 is over priced. I feel like you’re getting double the sound so I would price the Xtreme around 250. I still do like the Xtreme 3 though more for portability so I take it more places. The Boombox 3 is pretty big and heavy but you would expect that from the sound it produces. Definitely recommend.

Great product! Boomy, portable and great battery life. Heavy for long treks but worth it! Pairing is a breeze, and can connect to multiple devices at the same time. The price a bit steep, but this is one of those products that “you get what you pay for”

This is the best speaker I have ever bought! I am very impressed by the incredible sound quality. I can hear details in my songs that I haven't heard before--it's that good. The bass is super deep and powerful, even at loud volumes, and the mids and highs are perfectly detailed and pristine. And the battery life is unreal. I highly recommend this speaker, and also the JBL portable app that allows sound customization.

We purchased it for a family getaway to have as an outdoor speaker at the pool and at the River. The bass and sound quality was great and it had plenty of volume for the outdoors with the added benefit of being rechargeable, wireless and waterproof. It was a big hit!

This speaker delivers. I have bought various bose and JBL speakers. This blows them all out of the water. The base, the sound, the volume, the batterylife. This speaker could quite literally work as one for a block party its that loud. It its bigger and bulky but if high quality sound and batterylife is what you’re looking for, look no further.

This boombox is a beast. Shakes the walls in the house. Very loud and clear even on max volume. I have taken this into the ocean many times wit it coverd in sand. Cleans right off. Only down side is its heavy to carry long disnatces. Worth the money

    Jbl BB3 construction foreman review

I purchased the JBL bb3 for a jobsite speaker. I previously had a charge 3 and it was a good product. Moving into a new position of running work on a construction site building new houses, i needed something that could be heard over a new production jobsite and hold up to the environment. Although I returned the bb3 here is my review from having it for a week. I apologize for the format as i am on mobile. PROS: water proof, dust proof and shock proof. Should hold up to the elements quite nicely, like my charge 3 did. Sound quality is pretty good and the 96db gets pretty loud. The bass is pretty nice on the speaker as well. All around would be a great speaker for hanging out with friends or chilling at the house or outside. The handle is nice to carry and isnt heavy for the average person. CONS: I pretty much had to max out the volume so everyone in the house could hear it (rough state, no drywall, no garage door, etc.) It got decently loud it just left you wanting more. The battery claims 24 hr runtime at moderate volume (in the manual) I did not get a full 8 hr work day before it would die, mainly because it needed to be maxed out. I generally would get 6-7 hrs, and thats with pausing at lunch and not starting it up for an hour at the begginning of the workday. The speaker would roll around the floor while driving and i had to stuff sweatshirts or something to keep it still. TAKEAWAY: if this is for hanging around the house or quiet environments then the speaker is a good buy, except for the price. Tbh i think it is overpriced by a LOT. There are a decent amount of competitor speakers that get just as loud and have the same rated battery for half the price. If your a fan of Jbl and the price is no issue then sure. For my situation it left me feeling dissappointed. The battery life was one of the biggest things for me, i do not always gave access to power besides a generator, and i highly advise not charging things on a generator, you WILL ruin your product. ALTERNATIVE: after endless research i finally ended up getting an EcoxGear defender. I tested them both side by side at my house. The defender gets much louder at ~121 decibles and i have not had to max it out yet. It is also rated IP67 eaterproof dustproof as well as the bb3, and it floats. After an 8 hr work day the battery on the defender dropped 1 bar down to 4 out of 5. The sound quality is as good as if not better then the jbl, but the bass is not as rich as the bb3. Dont get me wrong the defender still has killer bass and you will not be dissapointed at ALL. Also its over 200$ cheaper then the bb3. After field testing the ECOxGear Defender, I returned the jbl bb3. I hope this helps, and like i said my situation isnt super common, but could be applied to other occupations or activities like outdoor sports/recreation.

What a great kick’n speaker. I’m amazed with the sound quality and volume of this little guy. I’ve been a fan of JBL for a long time but they now stepped it up a notch again. Great job!! Excellent sound and base response with a strong long lasting battery. These go on sale every once in a while but it's worth all the money. I strongly recommend it. I love it.

I recently purchased the JBL Boombox 400, and although it's on the higher end of the price range, it's worth every penny. The sound quality is absolutely incredible, with deep bass and crisp highs that fill any space, indoors or outdoors. It’s perfect for parties, camping trips, or just lounging by the pool. The battery life is also impressive, lasting all day without needing a charge, and the durable, waterproof design makes it feel premium and built to last. The Bluetooth connectivity is seamless, and it can even charge your devices, which is a nice bonus. If you’re looking for a powerful, reliable speaker with amazing sound, the JBL Boombox 400 is an investment you won’t regret!

I'm not only impressed, I'm over-impressed. This thing is awesome. The sound is amazing. Loud and clear. Great acoustics. It is on the heavier side, but well worth the weight for the power and battery life. I had it on for about 4 hours last weekend. The volume was probably around 20%-25%. I was in my garage. When I was finished and checked the app, the battery was still at 100%. I couldn't be happier...

Compared it to Bose and Sony Similar priced speakers and even the Bigger more Expensive JBL ones and this one wins it all. Portable loud crisp clean loud and loud bass without loosing tonality or audio quality. On the heavy side but that’s expected along battery life and you can also use it as a portable usb charger for all your Gadgets.
