JBL - Quantum 800 "Wireless?" ...to a point.

I have a very large head, and these actually extend far enough to fit. The ear cups and headband seem to have memory foam, and the leather-like coating doesn't make me sweat. Now, I don’t do much PC gaming. I don’t even have a PC, so the software for adjusting the EQ and other fine-tuning options doesn’t seem available to me. This is unfortunate, because straight out of the box there is zero bass response. Mids and highs are clear, but the treble could use some adjustment as well. Very tinny and thin. The Bluetooth function works well, so you can connect to your computer with it, and take calls (I don’t think any serious gamers would rely upon BT connectivity for competitive gaming itself). A bit large for a phone headset, but I won’t judge. So, while I can’t say it’s the worst headset I’ve ever used, I can say that I’m not overly impressed, especially for JBL. Perhaps you might have a better experience using it on a PC.

Posted .Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We're sorry that the Quantum 800 didn't meet your expectations. There are many different ways to connect headphones to any given system. We at JBL have made it possible to connect the Quantum 800 in various ways: Wired, Bluetooth, and USB Wireless. Unfortunately, the Quantum Engine that enables users to do all the lighting and sound settings of the headphones only works on PC. We apologize for any inconvenience.

A Complicated Review
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To start off I'm gonna be upfront and say that I never got my headset, sadly a porch pirate got it before I could ever use my own pair. I did however get to use my friend's same headset since his is what made me want to get these. I only wore them for PC gaming so I'm not sure how well they work on console and I wanted a headset that wasn't limited to just my PS4. They use 50mm drivers and with the DTS quality you're gonna get some great sound, and pretty clear audio over all. The battery life is great for long gaming sessions and its got a pretty quick charge time. I do like that it uses type-c since I have so many of those cords now with my phone. Overall its a good headset, I just wish I would've gone to the store to get them instead of ordering online, but I'll just chock it up as another reason why this virus sucks.

They look cool, but to me that part doesn't really matter as they are on my head. The mic works well and I like the rotate to mute feature. It has loads of features and I'm sure they work great...and that leads to the second review. Review 2 Functionality: 2 Stars Pretty misleading description about the "wireless" functionality. JBL - Quantum 800 RGB Wireless DTS Headphone:X v2.0 Gaming Headset for PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Mobile Devices - Black Once you get into the Quick Setup Guide, it lays it out that the 2.4Ghz functionaly is for PC Only. Bluetooth is for Mobile/Tablet (I would also say PS3/4 as both those platforms have Bluetooth, but the Xbox ONE S does not), and 3.5mm is for Xbox/PS4/Switch/anything else. So if you are looking for a wireless headset for the XBOX exclusively (as I was) look elsewhere. If you want a multi-functional headset, then this may work for your needs. A huge plus is that using the 3.5mm headphone option does not use battery power...you don't have to turn on the headphones! That is its major saving grace. But the other features of the headset even if on, do not control the functions like Game Chat Volume. There is volume control on the 3.5mm wire, but at first on the XBOX it was not very loud. I had to go into the XBOX and make some changes. I don't game on my phone, but I did setup it up to test it out and still the quality is great. I didn't have use for 2.4Ghz on the PC so I did not set that up...or at least not on the PC. I tried it on the XBOX One S, and while the 2.4Ghz dongle and headset connected, the XBOX did not send any sound to the headphones. Just do your own research first if this will fit your needs. If you are looking for a "ONE wireless headset to rule them all" you may want to keep looking, but at least it is a quality headset.
