Sensitive to interference & distance from music

I received these from Best Buy for my review. To start, the packaging is nice -- for a $200 earbud, I'd expect no less. The ear piece (enhancer) size that came on the unit was a bit too big for my ear, so I went down a size (it comes with 3 other sizes). There is extremely thin silicone at the bottom of the enhancer cover that needs to go over the top, down to the bottom of the ear piece, for what I assume is the water resistance. Because it's so thin, it rolls up under the ear piece when trying to slide it on it. In trying to get it down, I ripped a corner of it - and it continues to tear (see photo). I have reached out to Harmon support & it looks like they will try to resolve this.
This product recommends that you keep your phone in an armband when wearing this, however I won't be doing that. I keep my phone (just like with my other bluetooth earphones) in my front pants pocket. While in my front pocket, there is some stuttering at first playing a song, but it normalizes and is OK, moving forward. I did find that I had to enable the equalizer in my music software to get a more accurate sound; my $40 (other vendor) earbuds don't require that.
I think if they fixed the weakness in the silicone at the base of the enhancer and maybe some cleaner default pre-set EQ settings, these would be much better out of the box.
I took these to Best Buy to walk around with - and the interference in the store makes them unusuable; the stuttering and cut-outs are just so bad that I have to put my phone in a top shirt pocked to be even remotely functional; they are impacted just as much as the $40 pair I have.
Now, having taken extra time to write this review (sorry TIN!), I can now mark these as "not recommended."

Comes with numerous inserts for different sized ears. The ear buds create a seal without necessarily going in the ear canal too much. I have large ears and thought the ear hooks would be uncomfortable, but they are rubbery, flexible, and comfortable to use.
I have used earbuds that fall out, over ear headphones that tend to slip back when bench pressing, and ear-hook type headphones that would hurt the back of my ear after 30 minutes. The Jbl earbuds don’t fall out and do not hurt the back of my ear after long workouts (1hr 45 minutes including stretching).
In order for me to consider using a headphone or earbud in the gym they CANNOT fallout or slip off when doing any of my workouts. If you have the best sounding headphones or earbuds in the world only to have them slip off every time you do your exercises, then there is no point in taking them to the gym.
The in-ear and hook design of the earbuds prevented ensured they didn’t fall out when going for long runs or when doing sprints(High-lows). There were no issues when bench pressing either. The final test I had is the fact that they did not fall out when jump roping for 10 minutes.
I use my apple watch to monitor my heart rate because it is convenient to look at my wrist rather than pull out my phone. The heart rate displayed in the UA record app matches the apple watch heart rate readings.

JBL Under Armour headphones with heart rate monitoring
These Under Armour headphones come packaged very nicely in a box with magnetic enclosure. They include 4 sets of ear pieces and a zippered storage pouch. Features include: blue tooth connectivity, heartbeat monitoring, microphone for use with phone calls and has an app to track workout progress monitor steps walked, connects to my fitness pal to track calories consumed and more. I've tested these headphones for the last 2 weeks on my commute to work and at the gym while doing cardio and working with weights. Below are some of my observations after using these for approximately 2 weeks.
Pros:
1. Once you get them on your ear properly, they feel very secure. While jogging and sweating, they still felt secure.
2. Sound quality is very good, I do wish it had more bass and mid levels though.
3. Heart rate was consistent with my watch (+/-1 Best compared to watch).
4. Water resistant design, this is great if you happen to sweat a lot while working out.
5. Nicely designed earphones backed by JBL reputation.
6. Acceptable battery life (battery is built into the ear piece).
Cons:
1. I found these earphones are sometimes difficult to position correctly in the ear. If the seals are not seated properly, they don't sound so good.
2. The ear pieces themselves can be a bit challenging to get on to the earphones.
3. The loop that wraps around the ear was uncomfortable at first but eventually felt more comfortable with use.
Overall, these are nice earphones and should definitely be on your list when you're shopping for Bluetooth earphones. The heart rate monitor and the Under Armour fitness app makes this stand out from the crowded field of bluetooth earbuds!

From the moment you start opening the box it just feels like a high end packaging.
The fit is amazing. I feel like these would stay put even with out the over the ear hook. Now setup can be a little difficult with changing out the different size ear buds. But it's well worth it. After you find your size these headphones lock in. And they have great sound quality.

Good sound but terrible ear bud covers

Ok I'm going to start with my biggest gripe about these headphones. The ear bud covers, the ones that you can replace to change the size to better fit your ear, are some of the worst I have ever seen on an in ear headphone. I attempted to change them out for a size that would better fit my ears and after messing with them in frustration for over 20 minutes I had to give up. I did eventually go back and try again later and after another 20 minutes or so I finally managed to get them changed. Getting the old ones off was easy enough but getting the new ones on was the worst experience I have ever had with a headset. The problem is they expect you to stretch the new ones over the ear bud but the opening does not exactly make it easy and if you have larger hands like me it's almost impossible to get the new ones on without ripping them.
As far as the heart beat monitoring and the sound those where both good which is the only saving grace this headset had after such an awful experience with the ear bud covers. If it where not for that one fact these would have been better rated. The design and fit is not too bad after getting the proper size ear buds on the headphones.
Overall I can't say I would recommend these to someone else as most people are likely going to need to change out the earbuds to get a proper fit and both the explanation of how to change them and the act of actually changing them is one of the worst I have ever dealt with.

Not A Comfortable Fit

When I got these headphones I thought they were really nice. The style looked very sporty and light and I loved the idea of being able to have a good heart rate reading when I wanted it. These headphones come with a total of 4 sets of ear gels ranging from size 5 to size 8 with the size 7 being preinstalled. First I tried them with the size 7 but they were way too tight for my ears. I do, at times, have trouble with my ears so I tried the size 5 and they were still too tight, but I wore them for a bit to try the heart rate sensor which didn't work well, at least for me. There's an audio cue that tells you when the heart rate is detected and when it's searching for it. It also tells you when it's disconnected. I immediately turned that feature off because it kept sounding off every minute or so, but then it kept sounding off when it was looking for a heart rate. It got annoying after a few minutes. Be prepared to possibly be annoyed or disappointed if you get these.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. In order to ensure the best heart rate accuracy, it is important that you are using the proper size and the headphones securely fit in the ear. The size 7 enhancer is pre-installed on the headphones and 3 additional sizes (5, 6, 8) are available in the box. Often times the most accurate signal is achieved by using the largest size that fits comfortably in your ears. Once you’ve found the right size, it’s important to ensure that the enhancers are properly installed on the ear buds so that material is fully stretched over the bud and the window for the heart rate (HR) sensor is not covered. More helpful tips for getting the best results: -Insert the earphone into your ear so that the green heart rate sensor on the LEFT ear bud is fully hidden inside the ear (behind your tragus). -The ear loop should not be pushed backwards to align with arc of the ear perfectly; it is likely there will be negative space between the headphone loop and your ear. Im an athletic person and I bike, run and workout. I've had a few wireless headphones and haven't been impressed until now. The packaging is really cool and it comes with a few goodies. I specially like to travel pouch. There are various sizes replacement buds to find the perfect fit. Came with a 12 month membership to map my run app. To get started you need to download the UA record app to take advantage of the Heart rate feature. The appearance of this product is very similar to my epic JLabs except for the clip that you can hook to keep it from falling (just in case). The only thing I didn't like was it takes a few tries to find the fit. Sound quality is awesome as long as you get it in right. When its on it stays relatively secure. Overall, I like this one. It's a good buy plus it is sharp, besides I like the UA apparel.

I like the heartbeat feature. I like that they're wireless. These really don't fit too good around my ear. They fall off even when I'm not running. Maybe they would be better if you could adjust the piece that wraps around your ear up and down. Sorry but I can't recommend these earphones.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. It is important that you are using the proper size and the headphones securely fit in the ear. size 7 is featured on the model; two smaller sizes (5 & 6) and one larger (8) is included in the packaging. If you experience discomfort wearing the size 7, try the next size down. If you try a smaller size and the headphones fall out easily or the enhancer does not extend fully to the back of the bowl of the ear, you should try a bigger size. If you’re still having issues after trying all the sizes, please contact us at [email protected] and the Customer Service team will be more than happy to further assist you.

The sound quality of these headphones isn't as good as I expected. That being said they aren't the worst I've had and though I hate to say it because I genuinely love JBL sound I think the Beats Powebeats 2/3 wireless are better. One thing that I do like is the multiple sizes (but of course they're hard to get off and on).

I had just started biking this summer and would like to track the details of my ride like heart rate, speed, calorie burned, etc. And i have found that Map My Ride is really a great tool to do all that. I gave this headphone a chance to see how it works. It did work greatly with the map and gave me what I needed however two things made me switch back to my old earphones. 1) Battery Life is poor. It supposed to last about 5 hours but after an hour of biking, it died on me. 2) The ear tips are so hard to change more so fitting them in your ear to hear the music properly. It takes awhile to change the ear tips which would definitely help experience better music quality while working out.

It seemed a little odd to me at first...monitoring my heart rate through the ear, but its actually pretty cool. The sound quality is great, the fit is really good (they don't fall out), and the "wireless" nature keeps me from accidentally catching the wire and ripping them from my ears (something I am far too familiar with).
So far, I'm a fan of these neat earbuds.

I expected great quality sound from these $200 dollar headphones. My expectations dropped as soon as I used them the first time. The battery does about 1.5 hour MAX fully charged. The ear bud is pretty big and it hurts after a while. But the one that made me return these was the fact that the sound quality was horrible. I could hear everything going on around me while having the ear buds at max volume. If you get into your workout and want something that insulates sound, these are not the way to go.

Purchased this product as a replacement for my heart rate chest-strap - I wasn't sure if it would work as reliably, but so far, so good! The sound quality is good - a bit bass heavy, but clean sounding - for working out, this is the ideal sound profile for me. I recommend this product - thanks.

Day 1 - everything worked great. Even got 2 days out of the battery (app. 2 hrs on). Sound is great!
Day 3 - after about 45 minutes "battery low" warning
Day 4 - heart rate monitor would not stay on
Day 5- given up on heart rate monitor. keep volume at 50% to get 30 minutes battery. keep wired in pocket to finish work out
Day 8 - will not stay connected, for even a second.
Returned. Good thing I bought buyer protection plan, I will be getting my money's worth.

I purchased these to replace Powerbeats. The audio quality compared to the Powerbeats is a 1 star feature. The audio is very tinny unless the volume is very high and the volume is limited. Maybe none of the four sizes of "enhancers" (ear tips) fit my ears? Changing the enhancers is painfully impossible and I'm a dentist so stuff like that is usually easy. I'd give the heart rate monitor function 4 stars. It works well once you understand it's Morse code like operation. Also, you'll need at least 3 diopter reading glasses to read the instructions.

I just purchased as I need a wireless Bluetooth headset for my iPhone. I really like JBL product but when I made a test call to my wife, every time I moved my head left or right it sounded like I was crumpling paper to her. The mic was rubbing against my collar. No other way around it. Poor, poor device for phone calls. I will say they are comfortable and look great. East to pair as well.
