I purchased this Jensen boombox 2 months ago and love it! The sound quality of the cassette and CD players are crisp, clear and just powerful enough (this unit had double the watts of others that I was looking at). If you like a bit more treble, rather than bass, this will be the perfect boombox for you (note: there is a bass boost button if you want to add a bit of bottom end too). The only negatives that I can find is that there is no AM Radio, only FM....and when fast forwarding or rewinding cassettes, it will not shut off automatically when they come to the end. They do shut off automatically when the tape comes to the end while playing though. Overall, for my needs, the price of this unit just cannot be beat.

This Jensen boombox has great sound and it is one of the few on the market that has a cassette deck included. It was very inexpensive compared with other brands.

I got this for my mom, for her birthday. She's been redecorating her bedroom and has this nice shelf in the corner where this boombox fits perfectly. She can now play all her Mozart, Classical and Nature sounds cd's. But most of all, she's truly old school and still has her stash of cassette tapes that are in mint condition from the 80's and 90's! ( Yes, she still has cassettes, so that feature was definitely a big plus ) It's awesome that she can play all her stuff to her heart's content. The audio is truly smooth and not tinny or cheesy sounding. My mom is not one for "loud" complicated stereos systems, so this is way perfect for her. She assembled and programmed this boombox by herself with no problem. To me this has been money well spent, on so many levels.

I purchased this for the CD player and it works wonderfully well in my kitchen area where I want it as I cook, clean up, etc. It is stylish and a very good size for my bakers rack. Having a radio in the home is still important for emergency purposes and this serves that need. It was easy to set up and the sound is very much to my liking. I am happy with the products and service from Best Buy and the price on this was very reasonable as far as I am concerned.

Bought this for my wife to use at school. She said it’s too big for the area she wanted to put it. I kept it for myself to use in my garage.
The unit puts out decent sound for its size. I will be keeping it.

Ordering was easy & it arrived quickly. The shelf stereo system is fine. Not great but it will do. We had a hard time figuring out how to make the cd player work. It should be simple for such a small inexpensive stereo but it wasn't. The sound is fine too.

Wasted money on portable radio

This radio sucks plain and simple, I wanted a portable FM stereo, did a lot of searching and although this one only had one review...I opted to buy it since the review was 4 star. When I first got and used it, I programmed in several radio stations by beginning at 87.7 (where the radio itself begins) moving up as far as 103.5. But I lost all programmed channels when I unplugged it from the wall outlet so each time I wanted to listen to it, I had start at 87.7 and work up channel by channel (those I didn't want [and there are quite a few] to 99.5 and program that in just to avoid having to start at 87.7 again. I thought "Okay, it takes 8 'D' batteries" so once I put the batteries in, it will retain the channel memory but "NO" it didn't. It looses it memory if you do not unplug it from the back of the radio before unplugging it from the wall outlet, in other words...if the cord remains in the radio it will loose programmed channels. But it doesn't stop there, I tried plugging it into the wall first and then into the back of the radio but didn't immediately make a good connection and "BAM!"...lost programmed channels once again. What makes all of this worse is having to restart at 87.7 every time, you cannot skip all of the channels from 87.7 up to the first one you want #there were about 15 stops between 87.7 and 99.5#. The push button advances up or down until it finds a channel, it pauses, locks on and only then can you advance #approximately 2 seconds per channel# to the next. The only other option I came up with is to go backwards from 87.7 to drop into the top of the channel frequencies, thus getting me closer to the upper ones quicker #107.5#. I would have returned this radio but I took too long to pick up the batteries only to find they did not resolve the issue. Other than listening to CDs #or cassette tapes if you still have any#, the only thing this so called portable radio is good for, is sitting on a shelf and remaining plugged in. But even then, you'll be reprogramming it in the event of a power interruption. Now I wish I had spent the extra money and got the Dewalt job radio/battery charger that was next in the crosshairs!
