I NEVER get tired of Jesus Christ Superstar - EVER! I will continue to purchase versions of this musical if they keep putting them out. I am aware of 3 versions out on bluray now - the '73 version w/ Ted Neeley (which I'd rank #2), the 'arena tour' version that came out in '14 (which I'd rank #1), and this version. While there really is nothing wrong with this version at all, it's just not my favorite version out there. All the actors are very strong and are vocally adept (I will admit that Pontius Pilate is a bit over-the-top). In my book, you just can't go wrong with ANY version of Jesus Christ Superstar.

I believe this is a ground-breaking musical that has been unheralded for years. The music is well-written, the cast is outstanding, and the emotions evoked are incredible.
As a Christian, I have also showed this to youth group and the results were the same.
Praise all for this wonderful DVD. Get it. Share it. Understand what it represents.

Please watch the one made in the early 70's with Carl Anderson as Judas and the one a only Ted Neeley. If you do this, it will explain all you need to know. This version lack the raw passion & guts. Sometimes you need to just leave well enough, ALONE!
