I love this new headset, the only problem I noticed is that they don’t do good with their mic’s in noisy environments but I quiet environments they do rock and with their sound and music they’re awesome, overall I love them.

THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT
I have been very pleasantly surprised with the JLab Epic Lab Edition, across almost all fronts. I would consider myself to be an amateur audiophile, and typically I use over-ear headphones for almost all use cases because of my pickiness with sound quality. This being said, I also love the convenience of earbuds, especially when it comes to working out and walking around out of the home. This is my first Jlab product I have owned, and so came in with no real expectations, but given the value proposition, I was cautiously optimistic that these would offer a solid audio experience and decent build quality. What I have found over the last week of using these is that they are a much more premium product all round than you might expect given the value they provide for a self-proclaimed audiophile experience.
This all starts with the unpackaging, where you get a metal case for the buds that is easily the best earbuds case I have used. It is weighty, with a firm hinge and solid build quality all around. It has a rubber bottom and can stand on its down on a flat surface. The earbuds slot in magnetically vertically, so you don’t need to worry about pin position for charging. You can use USB-C or a wireless charging pad to charge the case, and the case keeps the earbuds charged. The buds are quoted to have a 9-13 hour battery life on their own (depending on ANC usage) and 30-50+ hours usage with the case charging them. I cannot confirm these exact figures, but I will say I have very little reason to doubt them. I have used the buds for 3-4 hour stints over the last week without charging the case, and I still have full battery in the buds after being placed in the case, and still charge left in the case as well. Battery life is a complete non-issue here.
In terms of the buds themselves, they feel solid, with a plastic cap that houses the touch sensitive sensors for the buds and a transparent bottom near the earbud tips. I found the default earbud tips to be just right for my ears, but it does come with 6 additional pairs of varying sizes to help tailor it to your comfort and material preferences. The buds themselves are a bit on the larger size, but I never found them too big for my ears, however others with smaller ears may have different mileage. They do take a bit of adjusting once in your ear, but once secured, I haven’t had any issues with them falling out, which is better than I have had with many other earbuds without dedicated ear hooks. I have used these for workouts several times, and I never had any issues with them falling out, but if you are doing a lot of head movements, your mileage may again vary. Given their size though, I wouldn’t recommend laying down with them, as they do stick out of your ears a little bit, making them less convenient for sleeping.
Now, in terms of the all important sound quality, I have been quite impressed overall. Of course there is a level of subjectivity when it comes to audio, but the default JLab Signature EQ preset is pretty well tuned for a wide variety of music sources, while I like Balanced for audiobooks and podcasts. The buds have plenty of bass for me, even in the default preset, and personally I found bass boost a bit too heavy for my tastes, drowning out some of the mids and highs in the mostly metal/rock music I like to listen to. You can also set a custom EQ, such as something more flat if you prefer, although again, I found the preset EQs they give you to be pretty solid personally. You need to adjust the EQ in the app, but once you have your presets set, you can swap between them with the touch sensitive taps on the earbuds. The earbuds do need a bit of a burn-in period, so I would recommend playing some content on them for several hours before really judging them. Once they opened-up for me though, they sounded great, and stood-up as some of the best earbuds I have used. You also get support for LDAC and AAC depending on your source device, which is great for high-resolution audio, and you can use the wireless USB-C receiver to connect to other USB-C devices, and given the receiver has a built-in slot in the case, it is easy to bring it with you to other devices.
The only aspect of audio quality that I wasn’t impressed with was the audio passthrough mode with ANC enabled. The passive ANC is already quite good given the size of the buds, and the active ANC does a good job of layering in additional noise canceling. However, the active listening setting is “fine” but isn’t very refined compared to other active listening modes I have used. You generally can hear louder noises while audio is playing (think the clacking of a keyboard), but it sounds either almost artificially loud, or it is too muted. Voices I have found don’t passthrough as well, unless your music is already at lower volumes, or you are just using the noise canceling without music. I wouldn’t say the active listening is bad, but it just doesn’t make much of an impression overall.
On the whole though, I really like these JLab Epic Lab Edition earbuds, and for the value they provide, are very hard to not recommend. They are super solidly built, with a fantastic case, lots of hardware and software features, high-res audio support, EQ control, and more. I have encountered no software or hardware bugs, no issues with connectivity over bluetooth or USB-C, no build quality issues, and consistent performance across multiple types of media. These are super quality earbuds, through-and-through. Highly recommended.

These Sound So So So Good
|

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The JLab EPIC LAB EDITION truly wireless earbuds are incredible. They provide excellent sound quality, active noise cancellation (ANC), and a comfortable fit for just about anyone. Let’s get into the review though, because I’m pretty excited about these.
Sound Quality
The sound quality of the JLab EPIC LAB EDITION earbuds is excellent. I own a lot of in-ear and over-the-ear headphones, but the hybrid dual-driver that JLAB has implemented in these headphones has some sort of voodoo in it. The earbuds deliver clear and detailed sound with powerful bass. I was impressed with the way the earbuds handled different genres of music, from hip-hop to rock to classical. Every song sounded fuller than they did with my other earbuds. I kid you not, I can’t praise the sound quality of these earbuds enough.
Spatial audio is supported as well. That means while you won’t get positional audio on iOS devices, you will have support for Dolby Atmos and other 3D sound options. This is great when watching movies on services that support those spatial audio options.
Active Noise Cancellation
The ANC on the JLab EPIC LAB EDITION earbuds is very effective. The earbuds already do a great job of blocking out background noise, making them ideal for use in loud environments, but turning on the ANC envelopes you in even more noise cancellation goodness with no audible hiss or distortion.
Comfort/Build Quality/Usability
The JLab EPIC LAB EDITION earbuds were incredibly comfortable to wear. I have what I’d consider to be pretty normal ears and I had no issues with the medium-sized silicon tips. They sealed out sound well enough and stayed in very well. I also tried the medium-sized foam tips, but in this case, preferred the silicone. The earbuds come with a variety of tips in different sizes.
The earbuds themselves are more substantial than others in this price range. They are heavier, as is the case they come in, but feel sturdy and don’t ever feel uncomfortable while being worn. The case has a metallic finish and everything is IPS5 rated for dust and water resistance.
Tapping the earbuds will do things like skip, pause, turn ANC on/off, etc. These are all programmable in the JLAB app and so far they’ve worked okay. I don’t find the touches as responsive as other earbuds, but it’s not a deal breaker.
Connectivity/Charging/Battery Life
Bluetooth is the main means of connectivity for these earbuds, but you also get a USB-C dongle if you’d like to use these on a supported device, like a PC or laptop. This is great because normally when doing voice communications you get downgraded to an SBC codec which is not the greatest. This allows you, if your device supports it, to use the LBC codec which improves the audio quality drastically.
There’s multi-point connectivity as well, so you can have 2 devices connected at the same time. This is a must-have feature for me and one that is sometimes missed in certain products.
You can charge via Qi or USB-C. Charging will allow you up to 36 hours of ANC playtime using the charging case. That’s about 9 hours per charge, which is incredible considering other top-of-the-line earbuds tout only 4-5 hours with ANC on.
The JLAB App
This is the one weak point of the review. The JLAB app on iOS is barebones. There isn’t much to it, but once I was connected it did update the firmware of the earbuds just fine. There are options to adjust your equalizer settings, ANC, and program what touch does what on the earbuds. While the app isn’t fancy, it does the job, so it’s not that big of a deal.
Overall
The JLab EPIC LAB EDITION is an incredible entry into the high-end earbud market from JLAB. While the company isn’t notable for anything high-end, these may just change that for them. The only weak point is the JLAB app that needs more work, at least in iOS, but I can’t knock a whole star off for just that as it does what it’s supposed to do.

Amazing Audio, Terrible Call Quality
|

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
JLab's Epic Earphones have great audio and will surprise you with their quality.
The earphones come with a charging case, USB C charging cable (not a charging block), a USB C dongle to connect the earphones to a computer, and different size and type earbud tips. The battery on these is great, with each earbud rated to last about 13 hours without ANC and about 9 hours with it enabled (more on ANC below). Additionally, the JLab carry case has magnets inside that help position each earbud correctly to charge and also gives the earbuds an additional 30 hours (15 hours each earbud) through charging them while on the go. The case can also charge wirelessly.
Connecting the earphones to my phone was a simple and easy process; pressing and holding a button on the back of the case put them in pairing mode and I was able to connect them without fumbling around the manual to troubleshoot. As for the fit, the earphones fit well in my case and stayed on while running and jumping while exercising. With them being IP55, my sweat did not affect them. Occasionally, I would have to adjust them in my ear but I was able to keep them on comfortably for 1 hour sessions of exercise.
Audio wise, the earphones sound great! Not what I was expecting from JLAB. The audio did sound a little tinny at first but through the JLab app, I was able to adjust this through the equalizer settings. JLab promotes their hybrid drivers and is noticeable with how well the bass sounds through music. For techies and audiophiles, its nice to see JLab also incorporate support for the different LDAC, LC3, and AAC audio codecs, this helps to somewhat futureproof the earphones while having options to listen to better quality audio depending on the device you use. As an added plus, the Epics's also have Active Noise Cancellation. There are 2 types of ANC modes you can choose from and levels for each mode; standard ANC and a “Be Aware” mode where you can slightly hear your surroundings. While with the ANC enabled you can still somewhat hear your surroundings, the “Be Aware” mode gives a little boost to external noise while listening to music or audio. It was nice to have this option and I found it useful when around my family to be able to listen to conversations and not have to remove the earphones.
While these earphones have several pluses, the biggest downside is the call quality. While on a call, and having tested it with several phones on the other line, the person speaking through the earphones sounds somewhat robotic and the person's voice lacks detail. When speaking at a normal level, the person's voice can sound like the call is breaking up, which can be a little annoying if you're speaking and don't want raise your voice.
Overall, these earphones have high quality audio and features that make them a competitive choice in the earbud market. While I would've liked the microphone to have worked better for calls, I would still recommend them as a solid choice for those not looking to make many calls and want excellent audio quality.

The AirPod Killer - The Next Top Dog for Earbuds!

THIS…. IS the JLab Epic Lab Edition, and while the name may be somewhat weird…these earbuds are truly spectacular. I was unfamiliar with JLab prior to these earbuds and I wasn’t quite sure how these would stack up to other earbuds around the $200 mark. JLab was also making bold claims, touting a hybrid dual driver with an audiophile listening experience…something I have heard allllll too often from several other brands that pop up claiming to have the next AirPod Killing Earbuds and well, for the first time I think the AirPods Pro have truly been dethroned on all fronts - sound, Active Noise Canceling (ANC), battery life and Adjustability. I was truly shocked at how well JLab delivered and executed on the Epic Lab Edition and these are truly $200 headphones I can really stand behind. With all my heart spilled out over these, lets get into the details on why these earbuds are truly AWESOME!
TL;DR These are the TRUE AirPods Killers! Packed with features, comfortable for hours on end and sound that will blow you away. Seriously, these are awesomeness in a gunmetal color clam shell case.
Let’s just start at the beginning, the box is nothing special and the packaging isn’t either, enough to get to your door and opened up. You are greeted with a few things, one being a really nice braided USB C (dual sided) cable that is about a foot long. After that, you will see six sets of ear tips which is actually two separate sets of earbud tips… the first set of small, medium and large earbud tips are your classic gummie sets, and the other being made of a ‘cloud foam’ material which is what I opted for. To me, it is really interesting in the ear because it slips in and then expands slightly to conform exactly to your ear canal to prevent the earbuds from falling out - which I have not had happen with these and I have taken them everywhere with me. I will say that the earbuds are extremely comfortable and not too heavy, but certainly bulkier than AirPods Pro. After you pick out your material and your size, you will take the earbuds case out and download the app, which is where I had to download a firmware update. Now, I am quite impatient so I was already listening to music while I was waiting on the JLab app to download, so when I was prompted with the firmware update I was shocked to know that I can keep the earbuds in my ear while they not only pair to my phone, but also update. This is something I have never seen before and I was really excited to know that I don’t have to put everything back in the case just to pair or update them.
Something else that is cool about these headphones is that they come with a type-c dongle that automatically Bluetooth links them to whatever you plug it into, and it auto pairs the headphones to IPad and IPhone via the usb-c dongle which is super cool for when I want to take a phone call and don’t have the time/will to fuss with my audio settings.
Once you open the app, you select the earbuds you have and update them. This took me no more than 5 or so minutes, and then the world of JLab was unlocked. Everything, and I mean everything was adjustable. Max Volume, the ANC, several customizable button presses, modes, several EQ settings… oh and a 10 band EQ!? The features that are packed into these earbuds are INCREDIBLE which are all labeled at the bottom of my review!
Now, what we are all here about….The sound! This is really hard to explain but what I can only conjure up as magic. It feels as if I am listing to really good room speakers in my ear and not a condensed driver like earbuds normally are where it feels like the bass is just rattling your ear if you turn it up, whereas Jlabs Epic Lab earbuds truly feel like they are thumping, as if REAL bass is hitting your ear. Out of the box the earbuds are quite neutral, a slight maybe lean towards bass but not to any level where you would call them bass heavy. I will say that with the 10 band EQ and the customizable presets, these are quite adjustable…the only headache is that you have to have both earbuds out to change the EQ, small gripe but something that made me think I was crazy for a few seconds. All things considered, these headphones are really ear stimulating and crisp. I really like my AirPods Pro, they are easy and just work….but they are 100% now replaced with these. The only low point is that with all earbuds, the ANC still misses out on some of the high pitch noises and low humms, but I think that the Cloud Form Eartips really drown those out due to how well it fits the ear canal.
These earphones are really the best I think I have ever tried, and are awesome across the spectrum. From music, to movies on the go, to podcast and on the phone…all crisp and clear. Something I want to bring up though that is just a head scratcher is that JLab compares AirPods and the JLab headphones on their own web sight, but incorrectly cite AirPods Pro (2nd gen) capabilities…this really was odd to me because it doesn’t matter what the specs are when your headphones are objectively better anyways. Another trying was the battery life claim, it really is about 30 hours standard, and around 16-20hr using ANC…adding up each earbud and then the case on top of that is a weird way to measure your battery life because normally you have both earbuds in at the same time. Odd, something that I’m writing off as an oversight on their end and hopefully it will be fixed.
To conclude and wrap up my love fest for the JLab Epic Lab earbuds - JUST TRY THEM! This isn’t just another earbud/headphone maker and they are really onto something good here. I would even buy these at full price, they are actually of quality and packed with more features than I can count. The best part of the whole thing is, when you buy these at best buy… you never have to worry about getting a bad product because, as always, Best Buy has an excellent return policy and even better customer service, so you never have to worry about buying a product that you don’t like… so why not test it out?!

The JLAB Epic Lab Edition ANC True Wireless Earbuds are much better than I thought.
These are not my first JLABs my first were in 2015 and they have gotten better and better and these are the best yet for several reasons.
First they come with the USB C Cable on both sides, 6 pairs of tips to get a perfect fit, a very nice and cool case, a dongle and finally the earbuds.
The case not only does it look great, it feels sturdy and it is compact to carry in a pocket, it can be charged either by using the USB C cable that is included and also with a wireless charger (not included) but I have one for my phone so it works out anyway.
The tips are helpful because I tried all and found the perfect fit and they do not have to be the same side on both ears.
As for the earbuds, they are easy to connect to my phone, they basically let me phone know they were nearby and prompted me to connect to them.
The sound is great, listening to podcasts, music, videos etc. is awesome and I can easily turn on / off noise control, this lets me either listen to everything around me as well as what I am listening with the earbuds or cancel everything else and focus.
I like the noise control function because if I am running, hiking, or just want to listen to my surroundings I can soft touch the earbud to do that and easily go back to immerse to what I was listening to again.
The buttons are soft touch, there is no need to push in my ear and the buttons are customizable.
I also like that I have my assistant with just a touch of my earbud, I can do everything without reaching for my phone.
There are plenty of other features that I like, including the application that shows the battery life, equalizer, touch controls, music and movie mode, safe hearing, auto play /pause sensor control and have access to the store.
Overall the earbuds are great, they do cancel well and sound great, they are comfortable, the case and app help the earbuds work efficiently. They are well made I like them.

JLABS "Epic Lab Edition" Innovation on the Move

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The JLAB Epic Lab Edition are innovative wireless earbuds for those on the move.
Included in the box are the earbuds, case, charging cable, extra eartips, and quick start guide.
Out of the box the case was already fully charged. 6 pairs of eartips are included with sizes ranging from small/medium/large and a choice between “cloud foam” and regular silicone. It is my understanding that cloud foam is a type of memory foam. Have found the preinstalled medium silicone to be the best fit for me.
Zinc alloy charging case feels premium and clasps with a satisfying metallic sound. Rubberized bottom is a nice feature as well. Three indicator lights on the front provide an indication of charge level. JLAB claims over 13 hours of playtime in each earbud and over 56 hours combined with the case. Case can be charged with either USB-C or wirelessly.
Earbuds connect easily with Bluetooth. They also have support for the emerging Bluetooth Low Energy Audio and LC3 codec technology. This tech allows for improved audio quality even at low data rates, improving battery life. For devices not equipped with Bluetooth, a USB-C dongle is also included in the case. This makes the case slightly bulkier, and I do not see a need for it, especially with modern devices.
Earbuds sound superb with rich bass and a wide soundstage. Can pinpoint the location of different instruments in stereo tracks. The earbuds use “hybrid dual drivers”, one for bass and mid-range frequencies and another developed by Knowles for high frequencies. They also support LDAC and AAC codecs for hi-resolution wireless music.
Capacitive touch control is accurate and works very well. Can flawlessly adjust volume, tracks, and noise cancelling mode. Noise cancelling works well while being comfortable without any discomfort/”pressure” felt by earlier noise cancelling systems. JLAB’s “be aware” mode is slightly quieter yet more refined than other wireless earbuds I have tested. A demonstration of the earbud’s quality microphones.
The JLab app is straightforward and allows for control of noise cancellation, equalizer, and touch controls. Earbuds connected seamlessly to the app and a firmware update was prompted. Currently use the “Knowles Preferred” EQ preset which gives the best balance between bass and treble for my taste.
Overall, the JLAB Epic Lab Edition wireless earbuds are for those who enjoy convenient, high-quality music.

wow level of audio experience with some downsides

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Initial Note:
- This is a review based on not being audiophile expert nor technical knowledge and having tried multiple earbuds of premium brands;
- Review is based on use experience with iPhone 15pro Max and MacBook Pro 2020.
After several hours of wearing and testing the EPIC Lab Edition earbud from JLAB, it offers excellent sound quality close to a crafted and premium level earbud but accessible price range. Although it might not be exactly same, the immersive experience feels mostly equally high end mobile audio experience.
It support (extract from the product specifications)
- Hi-Res Audio, type of compression for Android (LDAC) and iOS (AAC);
- Made with Hybrid Dual Drivers (dynamic and Knowles balanced armature driver);
- Bluetooth LE
- Dual Charging via wireless or usb-c
- 56+ hours of playtime
The package includes:
- Earbud
- Charging case with wireless charging option
- USB-C to C charging cable
- Bluetooth LE Audio Dongle
- 6 Tips” S/M/L silicon and cloud foam.
PAIRING WITH MOBILE PHONE
The pairing with mobile phone is within the normal experience as would be any other brand of earbud.
Once connected and downloaded Jlab App, it automatically update as gets synchronized. And the entire audio experience is only controlled via JLab App.
PAIRING WITH LAPTOP
It require the dongle plugged to the laptop, and automatically connect with the earbud. The process can take couple of sec to a min or so if work. In my case I had to try twice.
THE APP
The app has options to :
-Noice Control Modes
-Equalizer
-Touch Controls
-Music Mode/Movie Mode
-Safe Hearing
-Auto Play/Pause Sensors
-Update Firmware.
- Icon that provide level of battery for Left and Right
The application options are available only when the earbud is connected to the phone.
AUDIO EXPERIENCE:
It is quite remarkable for the size that is the earbud, with songs and video pull in the listening moment to part of the sound. Used for:
- Listening while working or taking a moment of break, played streaming music;
- Listening while running 1hours + continuously, part of experiment played Electric and mixed music for sport activities.
- Played sound testing video and part of movies.
In each of the case, it is immersive and as if being in the middle of the sound. As side note, for this to notice, it start at certain level of volume that for instance can feel the bass, then right to left and vice versa direction of the beat or the sound effect in case of movie, For movie, example, watching Maverick, can feel the jet flying sound from all directions and moving across. Although it is at the same level of full size headphone, but reasonably good enough.
Another instance among the song, the mixed version of Bad Guy, while listening can feel in the middle of energetic sound or part of the session.
On the noise cancelling note, it is good as the sound. As soon as place in the ear, it feels as if sealing effect. Such effect that can be experienced in the full size headphone of premium brand.
The noise cancelling has three options, on/off and awareness mode. This last one is almost like expanding the surrounding sound,
And the use of equalizer allow to control the level of bass and not out of normal would say. By default it comes four modes, JLab signature, Knowles Signature, Bass Boost, and Custom.
Touch Control:
In total 6 possible setting, 3 each side. Can be setup all or just one. It setup by One Tap, Two Tap, and Three Tap for each.
What does well:
1. Sound Experience - sort of Wow level
2. Noise Cancelling
3. Fit in the ear. It is very stable and doesn’t shake or move at all despite of running and sweat.
4. Considerably Fatigue-less. Often with another brand I had this fatigue feeling in first 10 to 15 minutes of wearing it, But I didn’t experience it with JLAB TW EPIC Edition.
Wish it does better:
1. Touch Control. It works well for first tap Left/Right. Two taps some times works, some time doesn’t, three taps few times worked only.
2. Multipoint Connection. I was not able to connect to two mobile phones. Connection to laptop or any other device like Apple TV or Android TV can’t be used, at least I couldn’t make it work. With notebook can’t connect with Bluetooth directly and having to use the Dongle.
3. Mic. If making call while there is wind, the earbud doesn’t isolate it making almost hard to maintain conversations during the phone call.
4. Connectivity Reliability. If connected with notebook and phone, during the test experienced that the phone doesn’t remain connected and sporadically disconnect and connect by itself. And using with Notebook for ZOOM meeting, also experienced dropping connection then connecting again,
The JLab TW EPIC Edition is a nicely put together hardware and deliver almost as if those high end and priced audio earbud or full size headphone. However, the user experience and reliability on connectivity and unable to fully take advantage of multipoint connection and shortcoming in microphone makes weight in the rating.
But still recommendable for simple usage as it deliver quite impressive listening experience for the price category.

My time with the JLab buds was a very nice experience. The features don't seem gimmicky, and they never got in the way of my audio enjoyment. Usually, I don't have too much praise for connectivity but with these buds I must say they were quick and hassle free to pair with my smart phone. No having to hold buttons down or tap multiple times to constantly resync and pair with my phone. Just take out and before I can even place them in my ear they were already connected.
They have a versatile sound profile and I like that you can tap to change EQ settings quickly to really draw out the audio. The tap feature sensitivity is set just right. The buds never registered false presses or activated with small brushes. Nor did I have to tap more than I needed to activate any tap feature. The app offers more options for customizing of audio and tap settings as well. The fit was very comfortable, even during extended usage. No ear fatigue at all and suction was nonexistent. It may just be my particular ear shape, but these buds fit perfectly.
Battery life was excellent. Almost 8 hours of heavy usage between charges. And I do mean almost all 8 hours of constant audio. I get about 4 full charges from the case before it needs to be plugged in for recharge.
About the only issue I ran into was that the buds need a decent line of sight with the device it's connected to. A few times I turned the corner of another room only to have audio cut in and out. So connectivity might be an issue if you are doing things around the house and not having the phone or whatever the buds are connected to right in your pocket.

TLDR; Hybrid Dual Drivers by Knowles, Hi-Res LDAC for Android or AAC for iOS, Noise Modes (ANC/Ambient/Off), Spatial Audio (DTS:X, THX, Dolby Atmos, Window Sonic), IP55 Rated, Wireless or USB-C charging. I suffer from hearing loss and wear hearing aids daily just to improve my quality of life. Music earbuds are not even a thing I consider nowadays, but every now and then I like giving a product a chance. The JLab EPIC Lab Edition wireless earbuds made me change my mind about owning earbuds.
The JLab EPIC Lab Edition wireless earbuds are probably my favorite earbuds that don’t don the infamous white stem…and they’re wow they’re pretty darn good! The quality and build of these earbuds set the tone of what you are going to expect from these. The charge case is made almost entirely of zinc alloy and just feels so good in your hands. The rubber bottom of the case ensures that it’s not sliding off any surface you put it on. There are 3 LED indicators on the case that designate two things: case charge level and individual earbud charge levels. Open the case, and you’ll find the earbuds and a very cool USB-C dongle that can be attached to any PC if you want to use them that way.
Each earbud sports both a Balanced Armature driver for mids and highs as well as a 10mm dynamic driver for bass and lows. JLab collaborated with Knowles, known for their world’s first miniature microphones and receivers for hearing aids back in 1954; since then, they’ve become the leader of the Balanced Armature driver design, which is found in these earbuds. Since the earbuds have no tactile buttons, all physical controls are done by touch/tap AND can be customized to your liking. Since these earbuds fit into the outer ear canal, they come with various sizes of eartips AND of two different materials (silicone or cloud foam). I found the tried and true silicone was a better fit for my ear, but know that you have options when you grab a pair of these. Lastly, the included USB-C to USB-C can be used for charging if not going the wireless route. The only complaint I have about the case and earbuds is that it can be a bit of a challenge to get them out as they stay put magnetically in the case.
Speaking of fit, the earbuds are relatively lightweight yet durable. Its housing appears to be made entirely of plastic with the exception of the microphone grills that can be clearly seen. The earbuds are also marked L and R just in case you get confused on which is which. Fitting them in your ear is a bit of a challenge at first, but you’ll quickly learn they will always sit in your ear in a certain way, which will provide the most optimal fit and sound isolation.
Speaking of sound, the dual drivers on these wireless earbuds are quite amazing. Most earbuds on the market sport a single driver and this driver has to satisfy the entire sound frequency range, and that is quite challenging for earbuds. You either get bass-heavy earbuds or treble-heavy, but not the flexibility of both. As I mentioned above, these JLab earbuds have a balanced armature driver and a 10mm dynamic driver. You basically have a bookshelf speaker and a subwoofer in each ear, and it’s quite quite quite quite quite…..refreshing! I love the sound output and quality of these earbuds more than any other earbuds that I own today.
Using the JLab app on iOS, I’m able to do two important things: change the EQ settings and change the touch controls. As a person with hearing loss, it is important for me to apply gain to the frequencies where I have hearing loss. This feature alone is a requirement for me if I were to even consider a pair of earbuds. As far as touch controls, every manufacturer has their methods on how they want to adjust volume, skip tracks and activate noise canceling, etc. In the app, I am able to decide what tap patterns/holds activate what feature. A lot of us may have gotten used to a specific brand’s tap behavior and don’t want to learn a new one; now you can customize based on what you’re familiar with.
I love these earbuds very much.

First impressions are everything, and I have to admit, mine weren’t perfect. The charging case for the JLab Epic Lab Edition true wireless ear buds is a sleek looking, gray anodized metal that has an expensive and classy feel to it. You open the top that is held closed with a magnetic catch and inside you find the two ear buds with another little device tucked away between them. You go to remove a bud and your fingers slip off the slippery, tapered body of the bud and you come away empty handed. You try again, and nothing. If I knew the amount of difficulty I was going to have getting these little buggers out of their case, I would have made a video. Granted, it is winter and my fingers are dry, but come on. Give me a design that offers a little gription (that should be a word). In less than 24 hours a bud has squirted out of my fingers and hit the floor twice already. The magnets that keep the buds in the case seem excessively strong thus adding to the difficulty of extracting the buds from their case.
The little device I mentioned earlier turns out to be a USB-C dongle that attaches to the device your program material is being sourced from, in my case a MacBook Pro, to provide a Bluetooth LE Audio connection. I had never heard of this until now, and the bluetooth.com website is a wealth of information on this and other Bluetooth technology. We have no tablets or phones with a USB-C port, my stereo receiver has only a USB-A port, and JLab says not to use any adapters with the dongle, so I could use it only with my laptop. The Epic buds connect instantly using the dongle with no pairing required. You will have to remove the buds first to be able to grab the easier to remove dongle from the case. I wish I could detect the nuances with this higher quality wireless connection, but I could not using my source material and given my compromised hearing (more later on that).
I have never been impressed with active noise cancellation technology in any ear bud I have tried. The ear bud design just doesn’t lend itself well to keeping ambient noise out of your ear when compared to the same tech in an over-the-ear headphone. I found the Epic Lab Edition to be no different. I used a cordless stick vac as a source of constant noise and I could detect little change in the vacuum noise when I turned the ANC on or off. It did however produce a distinct change in the sound quality of the music I was hearing, but did it cancel out the irritating noise? Nah. But I wasn’t really expecting it to.
The “Be Aware” function is designed to introduce the noise from the outside world around you. While I did find this to work well, with the way the buds fit my particular ears, I found no real need for this feature. I suspect others that get better isolation from how the tips fit their ears will find this feature useful.
There is a “Safe Hearing” function in the phone app that controls the maximum output of the Epic buds to two lower levels, a 95 dB limit and an 85 dB limit. My iPhone has a headphone level meter built into it and when playing back music that consistently was peaking around 79 to 81 dB, I found that engaging the limit setting in the JLab app would significantly cut the volume I could hear in the ear buds. So either I do not understand how this feature interfaces with my phone, or it was not working as intended. In my mind when the music is peaking around 80 dB, if I engage the volume limiter in the app to an 85 dB maximum, I would expect to hear no difference in music volume coming out of the ear buds. With that said, I found the volume of these buds, with no limit engaged, to be noticeably lower than the volume from the brand of ear bud I regularly use. Is it because of the volume of the sound coming out of the different buds or is it because of how the different products fit in my ear? I have no way of telling for sure.
The way the Epic Lab Edition buds are shaped makes for a different experience in fit for different users. I think my ears are shaped in a way that makes me a poor candidate for this style of ear bud. I found that the left bud would fall out of my ear when I would bend over. I did go to the JLab web site to make sure I was orienting the buds properly in my ears. The Quick Start Guide that comes in the package offers no guidance as to how to properly insert them. And it appears the included guide is currently the only documentation for this product other than the FAQ section on the web site and some instructional videos. I also wear hearing aids where the receiver (what a hearing aid speaker is called) fits into my ear canal and there is a thin wire that exits the canal hugs my head and attaches to the hearing aid body behind my ear. There are two styles of ear buds that I regularly use and both work very well for me with my hearing aids in place, albeit one style requires a set of aftermarket silicone “wings” to help keep them in place. I could find no similar product on the market for these JLab buds. I tried the variety of six different tips that come with the Epic buds, but none improved my fit experience with these buds to any appreciable degree. I also found that to get the best fit, I had to remove my hearing aids before inserting the buds. When I use ear buds a few different times a day, it gets to be inconvenient to remove my aids, but using ear buds makes phone calls so, so much easier when you are hard of hearing. The JLab packaging touts a 30-day satisfaction guarantee, so it appears that they are returnable if they do not work out for you.
The app that JLab has created to work with their products (it looks to interface with other JLab devices) contains quite a number of settings to alter the sound of the buds to your liking and to customize the functionality of the tap controls that are built into the ends of the buds. There is a 10-band graphic equalizer that allows you to make a custom frequency curve to your liking along with three programmed curves built in. It appears you can store only one custom curve. Rather than offering a comprehensive user manual, it appears that JLab offers a wide array of videos to help you understand their products in-depth. The foam ear tips that come with these ear buds are the compressible foam that slowly expands when released like that used in noise blocking ear plugs. This type of foam will get soiled and slowly deteriorate over time, but I could find no offering of replacement tips.
On paper the JLab Epic Lab Edition appears to be a very high tech product offering two drivers (think speakers) per bud, one being a Knowles-design balanced armature driver that was first developed for the hearing aid industry, but in the end, like most tech products, it all comes down to the user’s experience with the product and how they interact with it and how well it works for that given individual. The amount of customizability offered allows this product to be tailored to an individual’s needs and wants such as sound quality, fit, controls, and overall usability. In my case I struggled with the fit in my ear, the loudness offered, and some dexterity issues with the case and the tap controls. I hesitate to give a poor review based solely on my individual experience as I am sure there are others out there that find this ear bud a very pleasant experience and it exceeds their expectations. The nice thing is that JLab is so confident in their product that they offer the satisfaction guarantee I mentioned earlier. I really wanted to love this product, but in the end it just wasn’t there to meet my needs. Some may write off this review as being submitted by a clumsy, old duffer that can’t hear, but for those of use with those difficulties and physical limitations, we are always on the lookout for that next great item that makes our quality of life better. And a lot of us have the resources to buy top-of-the-line, well made, and superiorly designed products, even if the manufacturer didn’t originally see us as their target audience.

I have been using the Jlab Epic Editions for about a week now. The sound quality is great and up there with headphones from the fruit company. Which, for the most part is what really matters and there's enough features in the app to appeal to any audiophile, including custom equalizer controls. There's also some very cool extras to make the JLab Epic Editions stand out but I experience a weird bug which is hard to shake. Which is why I am giving them 3 stars, they could easily be a 4 if they fix the bug but more on that later.
First, when you open the box you're greeted by the paper wrapped headphone case saying "this is going to be EPIC". You have to love that enthusiasm! The first setup was not intuitive, remove headphones, remove paper that protects the charging contacts, put the Jlabs back in the case, what for blue lights, then you can pair. But after that it's fast and no issue with reconnecting to my iPhone. JLab do have their own (free) iOS app but you can pair without the app. I will say there's no registration required for the app, which is awesome. I would encourage you to install the app, as there was a firmware update for the JLab Epics.
One of the unique things about the JLab Epics is that the case has a Bluetooth dongle. I have NEVER seen this before. It's also a USB C Bluetooth LE dongle, which is equally special (see photos). The dongle makes pairing to any PC, Mac or device with USB C (I even tested on my iPad) crazy simple. Plug in dongle, JLab Epics automatically pair to the dongle. It's genius and simple and if you're like me switching between phone, iPads, work laptop, home laptop, it means you can use the JLab Epics anywhere without fiddling with the Bluetooth settings on your device.
The bug though and even the firmware update didn't fix this, is the JLab Epics, even while still in the case, were still paired to my iPhone and streamed music to the case. I thought I might have just not put them in the case properly, but they were properly in the case. I think JLab could fix this with a firmware update, as if they can detect they're charging they should not be in playback mode... but I'm not a software engineer.
Outside of this, everything else from the braided USB C cable for charging and the 5 different ear tips in the box mean you can get the perfect fit and comfort. Combined with a simple easy to use app, great audio with nice bass, and clear audio call quality, and the USB C dongle (which is still making me go wow!) the JLab Epics would be worth 4 stars if they can fix the case playback bug.

Great Set of earbuds

These are really exceptional earbuds. They look great and feel great in hand. The case is made of metal, has some weight and helps with the premium aesthetic of the earbuds. The case is quite bigger than the pro air buds that come in the white case from that fruit named company we all know. So it’s not as pocket friendly as some of us desire. It comes with a braided usbc charging cable and multiple size ear tips made of different materials so you can find the right size and comfort level for your ears.
The earbuds respond to tap controls. There are no buttons to control sounds, play/pause, skip, answer, so on and so forth. So you have to remember what each side controls, how long to press or how many taps control what on each side of the earbuds. It’s not difficult but you can accidentally change a setting or hang up if you forget what type of tap controls what.
I like that you are able to somewhat customize some bass and other sound settings, as well as, ANC, sound aware straight from the earbuds without the use of an app. However, if you want full control and desire to control your listening experience you can use the app that allows you to fully customize your earbuds. This can give you a really unique experience that’s tailored for your listening needs.
It comes with a small Bluetooth dongle. I plugged it into my iPhone 15 pro max, prior to setting up earbuds to Bluetooth, just to see if it would respond and it did immediately. It also immediately responded when plugged into laptop. I’ve never seen a dongle for earbuds so that was new. But it will also work via Bluetooth on your other devices and so the dongle isn’t necessary but it makes set up a whole lot faster and if you’re using public computers or devices it’s extremely helpful so you don’t need to add your device directly. So that’s wonderful if needed.
Ok so what I don’t like…well it’s extremely difficult to remove from the case. I appreciate the strong magnets that hold them in the case so I won’t complain about the magnets but Geesh they need to improve how people are to remove them from the case. It’s extremely difficult. I don’t have wide, thick, or greasy fingers but I struggle every time trying to remove them. The top of the case could also open a bit wider in my opinion. So if you’re looking for earbuds that will never fall out of a case by accident, these are your best bet because you will also find difficulty removing them on purpose, lol. Also putting them back into the case can be a task. You have to twist and maneuver them until they magnetically snap into place.
I also would appreciate that when I remove and place them down there was some technology that would recognize that they are no longer being used. It quite annoying that if I am not near them and I use my phone, that I have to pause what I’m doing to manually go into settings or the quick Bluetooth option on my phone and disconnect them because if I don’t, the sound will still be sent to the earbuds. So you have to put them back into the case each and every time to avoid that. It should be able to sense when it’s not in use.
The quality of sound is highly comparable to iPods. It comes with a good amount of features especially through the app. The sound produced is crisp and clear and music sounds really good with them. Once again they can be tuned to tailor to your listening styles. The ANC is like any other earbud, I find. It is pretty good but not great, but it does block out tons of outside noise. I like the other options as well. If I want to hear everything going on around me but still hear my audio this does a great job, and also slightly filtering external noises.
Overall it’s a great set of earbuds. The quality is there and the sound is amazing.

Solid all rounder from Jlab! Great sound quality out of the box along with other essential features to follow with. Battery life is the most impressive stand out probably one of the best out of an earbuds especially coming from a relatively newcomer Jlab. Battery life is rated at 12 hrs and over 50 hours with the case that also happens to include wireless charging and the case size is definitely pocketable, not Airpods thin size like but pretty close I would say. ANC and transparency are serviceable; Not bad but nothing mind blowing but they get the job done for the price tag they have. Sound is great out of the box. Not too much to nit-pick on this aspect but if I had to I will say the only EQ I liked was the Jlab signature EQ the other eq preset including the custom eq did not sound right to me and when you try to use the custom eq it automatically decreases the volume hearing level and I couldn't find a way to increase volume despite playing around with the treble and mids the volume was still low for my liking. One other nit-pick I can identify is fit can be cumbersome. The earbuds do not include ear fins and the security of the earbuds staying in my ears was a bit problematic. Sometimes I could wear the buds with no discomfort and other times the buds would fall off of my ears with no intense movement on my end. Overall I like the potential Jlab has crafted with the epic lab edition; They can rival with more expensive buds on the market especially with the price but it doesn't mean they hit all cylinders; if they can add ear fins and fix the EQ inconsistency I would have no problem on recommending current and future upcoming products from Jlab.

Overview
The JLab Epic Lab Edition Earbuds feel well built. They have a bit of heft yet are balanced well so I haven’t had any trouble with keeping them in place when I’m moving around. The sounds quality is very good, they are multipoint capable and come in a metal case with wireless charging capabilities.
What’s in the box:
• JLab Lab Edition Earbuds
• Metal case
• USB-C dongle
• Six pairs of tips
• Charging cable
• Quick Start Guide
Details
Even though the earbuds arrived charged, I topped them off using a wireless charging pad. After a full charge, I started testing. Pairing the earbuds with the first device was very straightforward. Remove the earbuds from the case. One earbud will blink blue/white indicating ready to pair. Go through the standard pairing procedure with your Bluetooth device. Select JLab Epic Lab Edition from the list of available devices.
Unlike my other multipoint earbuds, these don’t require the app to turn on multipoint. You can activate multipoint on these by pairing them with a second device. This is where I had a little trouble, until I read the instructions…… To pair with the second device, first turn off Bluetooth on the first device. Then pair the earbuds to the second. Then turn Bluetooth back on, on the first device. Viola! You now have multipoint set up.
Multipoint does work on these, not flawlessly, but better than on my more expensive name brand earbuds. There is often a noticeable pause when it switches between devices. But give it a bit and it usually works. If you have a lot of trouble with drops, try disconnecting from the second device.
I noticed that the Bluetooth range is not quite as good as my other earbuds. At about 20 feet away they start to cut out. My other name brand earbuds and headphones are still clear with no cutting out at about 30 feet away.
You have a choice of six different tips sizes and material. In the box the medium silicone tips are installed on the buds. Additionally in the box, there are large and small silicone tips, and small, medium, and large “Cloud Foam™” tips. I personally didn’t like the feel of the cloud foam in my ear. The medium caused discomfort and the small felt like it wouldn’t stay in. However, the medium silicone tips were comfortable for me for hours of continuous wear. It may just be that I’m used to the feel of silicone tips from other buds. But I do like having choices.
The buds come in a compact metal case that not only holds and charges the buds but also stores a USB-C dongle. The case can be charged either using a USB-C charge cable ( a nice one is included) or wirelessly with a wireless charging pad. The dongle is pre-paired with the buds. This connection overrides other connections. To use the dongle, just plug it into a USB-C port. The buds announce charge level and work. No need to pair them. (You may need to select the buds if you were using a different audio output previously.) This connection is very stable and is solid farther away than the connection straight to the devices Bluetooth. If you remove the dongle, the buds go back to the prior connections.
While you don’t really need the JLab app to use these buds, the app does come with the ability to update the firmware and to adjust the audio (equalizer). It also has a video setup guide and troubleshooting tips.
One tip, if the left earbud seems dead, just give it a tap like you would to change the volume. My left earbud got turned off somehow.
Summary
While you can certainly get decent earbuds for less money, these are definitely quality earbuds. Multipoint is straightforward and it works. Audio quality is very good. The tap controls on the earbuds work and are easier for me than the slide up or down controls on my other name brand earbuds. All in all, I think these are excellent earbuds.

As my title claims, these are the best sounding earbuds i have tried by far.
I bought these a while ago and have used them daily. I am in school and have a hard time paying attention without music so it is important to me to have good headphones I have tried jbl True beam, jbl 770nc, skull candy rail NC, samsung buds live, samsung buds 3 pro, airpods pro gen 2, and finally sony wh1000xm5 the last 3 are the only good ones from that list In my opinion. So anyways I think this makes me semiqualfied to help make your decision.
the things I most like about these are...
I love the dongle it is by far the most convenient thing if I want the audio on my switch oled plug it in and boom connected in 5 sec no Bluetooth settings needed same with computer or any usbc device. just for this feature, I would buy these again.
the antislip ruber base is great for when it needs to stay
battery life they do infact last a while, I can go 4-7 days without charging the case
the superb dual driver experience. I love the bass and overall clarity on these. I can hear details I never did before.
The things i am eh on are
the metal case can be great but will get scratched up really bad if you cary in the same pocket as keys or other sharper metal things
Non airpod like design I am a android user who used to have an iPhone I really loved the airpod pro gen 2 they are over all the best for iphone and that being said I personally like having the stick there they always stay in my ear better that way but this design is ok otherwise.
My dislikes
They are very bulky, which can at times make it hard for them to stay in
The ANC is not great. There is a difference, but not much if good anc is a must. These are not for you. I would recommend airpod Pro Gen 2 or Sony wh1000xm5
Overall, I would highly recommend these, but i can't give it a 5 star because of the anc not being the best.

These JLab Epic Lab Edition Hybrid Dual-Driver ANC True Wireless Earbuds, are superior in sound and quality. These earbuds are totally customizable to for your needs, both physically and digitally. Physically, the earbuds have an array of earpads, besides the ones that come on them. You can select from large or small silicon, or large, medium or small cloud foam. The ones installed are the medium silicone. The USB-C to USB-C charging cable comes with these, along with a USB dongle for the computer. The setup is super simple. The earbuds stay charged for what seems like forever, as I use them a lot, but didn’t have to charge them for about 3 days. They automatically connect when you put them on, which is really cool, especially if you are on the go a lot. One really cool feature is the application. You have to get the application. It has so many features and settings in it, that you will definitely want to get it. The noise reduction has different levels. You can choose music or movie mode in settings. These are are made to customize for the way you want them to be. Whether you are gaming, watching movies or videos, listening to music or podcasts, or talking to friends or family, these earbuds are the way to go. They are comfortable and sound amazing.

I'm an earbud snob. Throughout the years, I've purchased and used so many sets that I could give a TED Talk about why one set is better. However, with many devices in the tech world, enjoyment can be subjective. Earbuds can have all the marketing points, tech, and buzzwords, but those only mean something if the sound is just as good. And if I've learned one thing about headphones, earbuds, and microphones, it is that "sound" is subjective.
JLab has quickly become one of my favorite brands in the computer world. Their mouse, for example, is super minimal but smoother than butter, and I prefer it more than some of my more prominent brand-name accessories. They have gained a reputation for being a company of value. While they offer quality products, they shine regarding the price.
At $200, these EPIC LAB EDITION true wireless earbuds sound fantastic. They do. I paired them with my Steam Deck, and I've been pleased with the sound they produce. They may not be "360" sound, but the stereo spacing is fantastic. They don't produce ear-shattering volume, but I don't mind that when it comes to earbuds. As long as the seal is excellent, the volume doesn't need to be full blast for you to be immersed. $200 is a great value compared to Sony's InZone or Pulse earbuds. While those buds are decent, I've enjoyed the sound better on these JLab's. For example, the sound on the Pulses is a bit stuttery with the Playstation Portal, yet that may be more the Portal's fault than the earbuds. While I do love the idea of multipoint connections, sometimes, those can cause issues with what I'm using. For example, if I have my earbuds I generally use for music, also connected to the Steam Deck at the same time, there are issues with the sound chopping, which degrades the experience quite a bit. I plan to keep the JLabs specifically for the Deck and not anything else.
These come with a USB-C adapter, too, so that you can use them with a PC or a laptop, but of course, you can use Bluetooth for your phone or other devices you want. An adapter will give you a more stable connection, but after playing several hours on my Deck, I overlooked any sound or connection issues.
These are very easy to connect to and give you an audio announcement of connection and battery life, which I have grown to love when headphones or earbuds add that minor feature. You'll never be surprised when the buds go dead due to battery.
Comfort is another crucial aspect of earbuds, and these are very comfortable. I went up a size in the ear tips, but after that, the seal and the comfort were outstanding. These aren't heavy (like the Pulse and InZones are) and stay in your ear without any constant adjusting. These JLabs have a smaller footprint and that plays a part in the comfort and somehow doesn't degrade the sound. I haven't gone out and run with them, though, so I'm not sure how they'd do as "active wearing earbuds," but they don't claim to be either.
JLab is all about being minimal and having the quality to back it up, and they hit their mark here. Comfort and sound separate these from other buds I have for gaming. Sure, they don't sound as great with music as my Bang & Olufsen Beoplay EXs, but those are priced almost twice as much and cater to music, while these JLabs cater to gaming or video consumption. So don't expect these to blow you away with the music if you're an audiophile. However, they'll do just fine for casual listening.

Sound quality is very good especially with the Knowles preferred EQ. Noice cancellation is good enough. Transparency mode has a hiss when turned on to max level. Fitting is good so is the case and battery life.
Cons: The earpiece is quite slippery and difficult to pull out from the case.

I would say the sound stage is pretty good. The only comparison I can make is my 1st year airpod pro’s as those were my daily drivers for awhile. I think this earbud delivers a better sound with a decent bit more bass. Keep in mind, i’m reviewing this from a max of 95db output. Typically I listen at 85db to protect my hearing. I’m sure the difference could be much more noticeable at a higher volume. What really sells me however is not the very mid sound cancellation, but the incredible battery life! I’ve seriously never had a earbud or the case die on me yet. I barely have to charge it, it’s just awesome to know I can count on the fact my earbuds will be fully charged. I haven’t had a chance to try the lossless usb dongle, nor the latest bluetooth connectivity as my phone does not support either of those things.
