Comfortable fit, excellent sound

I’m a big fan of open style earbuds because I find having things in my ears uncomfortable, even for short periods of time, and I like that I can stay aware of my surroundings. The Epic Open Sport is a perfect fit for me since the sound conducts through the air and nothing is inserted in my ear canals.
These have flexible over-the-ear hooks that loop comfortably behind my ears without feeling hard against the skin. This places the 14.2mm high-fidelity dynamic drivers right at the opening of my ear canal while touching it very lightly with hardly any pressure. Each earbud has a touch-button (the logo on the outside) and a physical click button at the backside. Both can carryout playback controls like play/pause, track skipping, volume control, and AI voice assistant activation with 1 to 3 short presses or a long press.
They are lightweight despite having over 7 hours of play time per charge and come with a clamshell charging case that provides an additional 19 hours of listening time. The case itself charges via the included USB-C cable or on a compatible Qi wireless charging pad. The earbuds power on and off automatically when removed and placed into the case and are magnetically held in place inside. I like that they announce the battery life right after powering on and the battery levels for each earpiece and the case can be viewed in the app.
Note that the case’s cover doesn’t open past 80° and won’t stay open when you let go of it; it snaps back shut under its own weight. It’s also a bit hard to open one-handed due to the magnet that holds it shut, and you need to pay attention when putting the earbuds back in, as sometimes they don’t align 100%, and won’t charge if not fully seated.
Android users have the option to use Google Fast Pair when connecting to the headphones, which automatically syncs the earbuds to your Google account, so any device you’re logged into will automatically pair with them too. With Bluetooth 5.4 Multipoint, the earbuds can be connected to multiple devices at once, so you can seamless swap between devices allowing you to take calls on your phone while listening to music on your laptop or tablet, for example. There are two mics on each ear piece that help isolate your voice and cancel out noise during calls, making them great for carrying on conversations, even in noisy environments, and I found call quality and clarity to be quite good.
While not required for use, you can download and install the Jlab mobile app which gives you additional features like EQ customization over 10 bands, changing or disabling the controls, switching between music and movie modes, and adjusting safe hearing volumes. You can also update the firmware, and one feature in the app that I thought was really cool is the ambient sounds mixer which lets you combine up to 9 soothing, infinite-loop tracks of white noise from ethereal music to birds, waves, and rain. It’s very calming and great for relaxing or meditating.
Safe Hearing can be set to 85 dB (8 hour limit), 95 dB (1 hour limit), or Default which has no limit and lets you turn the volume up higher, which can be dangerous and cause hearing loss over the long term. Generally, I found the 95dB limit to be adequate for creating a sense of isolation and immersion, while 85 dB was a more comfortable level that allowed me to hear my surroundings better. At higher volumes, the sound can get a bit muddier and bleed a bit, so folks nearby may be able to hear what you’re listening to.
I like that when there is no audio, the earbuds are completely silent without any buzz, hiss, or white noise. When watching video content, audio and video is perfectly synced with no perceptible lag or delay, thanks to the low-latency BT protocol. Since these are marketed for sports use, they carry an IP55 rating and are able to resist sweat, dust, and splashes, but are not completely waterproof and should not be submerged.
Overall, I found the sound to be very clean and balanced with clear, though not super deep bass support, well-rounded mids, and bright trebles. Without Safe Hearing enabled, I found the max volume way too loud which is impressive considering that these are open ear. They are very comfortable to wear over long sessions and provide a clean listening experience that lets me hear sounds in my environment as well. While there’s no way to customize the fit, you can slightly adjust the position of the drivers by rotating the ear hooks, as moving them even a little bit can noticeably change how these sound. It also supports LDAC hi-res audio for higher bitrates with less loss.

Open ear headphones don't cover your ears or block your ear canal. They let your ears breath and allow you to hear the world around you, while still enjoying music or talking on your phone. You can hold natural conversations in person without having to constantly adjust them or take them off. They are also great for working out, because they feel less sweaty and sticky.
If you couldn't already tell... I love open ear headphones and own a few of them in different styles (including ear cuff/clip-on and bone conduction). After using the JLAB Open Sport Epic's for the past several days I think I have found a new favorite pair. I use them daily for indoor cycling and they are way better than the weak built-in speakers on my bike. They stay secure during strength training and high intensity workouts. I also wear them often at the office for calls, leaving them on most of the day with no impact to in person conversations.
The most notable thing about them is the loud volume and satisfying sound quality. The larger drivers on these really do deliver big sound, which is often a challenge for open ear type headphones. They can get loud and do not distort. The sound stage is neutral (you never feel to close or far away). Highs and mids are clear, but you do miss a bit of low end (not surprising and not terrible). The JLAB app even has an equalizer with a few preset and a custom options (I really don't mind the JLAB signature setting for music and the balanced setting works well for calls).
Call quality is also solid, people I spoke with said I was loud and clear. The noise cancelling also really helps keep background noise down (it is not always gone completely, but much better). The multi-device pairing worked well for me, I could listen to my cycling class on my bike and still receive notifications/calls on my paired phone at the same time.
I really like the overall design. They fit comfortably on my ear, while the behind the ear hook keeps them secure enough to workout with. The soft/rubberized coating is easy to wipe down and doesn't irritate your skin. They are IP55 rated, so they should handle sweat, light rain, and dust with no problem. They have a physical button (yes) and touch control for each ear, which can be set with multiple actions (e.g. volume up/down, play/pause, next/previous track, assistant) using the JLAB app.
The battery life is good. I was able to get 3-4 hours of continuous use or a full work day of light use without having to take them off. I was able to recharge the ear phones in the charging case multiple times without having to charge the case. This matches up well to JLAB's spec of up to 7hrs for the ear phones and an additional 23hrs in the case. You can also see the ear phone and case charge level in the JLAB app. Although a nicely braided 21 inch USB-C cable is included, you have to find your own USB-C charger and there is no place to store the cable with the case. The good news is you only have to charge the case every few days and the case supports inductive charging, which has been working great for me.

The JLab Epic Open Sport deliver excellent sound for those who don’t like regular in ear buds. I use earbuds daily from watching videos on my iPad/computer to listening to music on my phone. I don’t have a problem with in ear buds, but the open style buds are much more comfortable for long periods. Unboxing and setup can be done with or without the app, but the app adds a lot of customization. Besides the buds you get a small USB-C charging cable but no charging brick which is normal today. You can charge via the cable or with wireless charging, for the price point I was happy and surprised to see it had wireless charging.
Connectivity wise they use Bluetooth 5.4 and they have multi device support capability. This means you can be watching a video on your tablet/computer and then take a call on your phone when you receive one.In terms of battery JLab says up to 26 hours of battery life. For control you get both touch controls and one physical button on each ear bud. The function for both the touch and physical buttons can be customized or completely turned off in the app. These are the first ear buds I’ve seen with both touch and physical buttons of this size. The app also allows you to set custom EQs to dial in the right sound. In terms of sound, they deliver sound that is extremely close to in ear buds. With the open design you will never get that depth to bass, but they do sound good. The ear buds can also be used independent of each other for both calls and music.
The JLab Epic Open Sport punch above their price class with the latest Bluetooth, wireless charging, multi device support and the ability to be used independently. So if you’re a person who doesn’t like things in your ear or just want the comfort that open ear buds offer, the JLab Epic Open Sport are a great option.

Lightweight and very comfortable - good sound

These are some very comfortable and lightweight over the ear “earbuds”. It’s very easy to forget that you have them on for these reasons. They are open design, so they don’t actually go into your ear, but the little speaker projects the sound into your ear drum and in my opinion, these sound really good, especially when you factor in the price point. This feature allows you to hear the sound around you without some fancy ANC or hear through technology. This helps with battery life and the lightweight design, I am sure. They are not very expensive, but they do feel like they are very good quality. Touch controls are included here as well with a simple single, triple or long press to volume up/down, EQ change, or track forward/backward. The physical button is used to answer calls, activate the voice assistant of your device or power up/down the headphones. Multipoint connection allows you to pair with more than one device which is a great feature. Battery life is rated at 30+ hours with the case being able to recharge your buds on the go and you have the option to wirelessly charge the case as well. Sound quality has been great overall, and the only complaint, on sound, that I have is the lack of bass, but it is not a deal breaker for me. I will mostly be using this for my long conference calls that I found my old earbuds would stress out my ears and these will not do that to me. Another small complaint I have is it does take you some time to figure out where the touch controls actually are, but once you get used to it, it’s just fine. A two-year warranty rounds out my review of these and I do highly recommend these to try out and see for yourself.

My Go to Earbuds!

The JLab Epic Open Sport Air Conduction Wireless Earbuds are my new favorite earbuds! The sound is exceptional for price! The fit is what I like in an earbud. The flexible earhook fits snuggly and comfortably around your earlobe without the worry of falling out while running or exercising. The Epic Open Sport Earbuds are equipped with touch or button controls. The left touch controls the volume Down, Switch EQ, and Last Track played. The right touch controls Volume Up, Switch EQ, and next track played. Both the left and right button controls Play/Pause with one press or Google/Siri with two presses. To customize the touch and button controls, I downloaded the JLAB app. Within the JLAB app, I can choose how I want my the Equlizer to sound. There are two built in equalizer settings, EQ1-JLab Signature, EQ2-Balance, or Custom. When streaming online content , I switched the control to Movie Mode. When listening to music, I set it to Movie Mode. When I need to also hear my surroundings, I switch to Safe Hearing which is also available within the app. The app has My JLab, which has Ambient Sounds, Burn-In Tool, Control Guide, and a link to the JLab Store. The Ambient Sound is my favorite in-app feature! I often use the rain sound to fall asleep. The JLab Epic Open Sport Earbuds are fast becoming my go to earbuds, for music, content streaming, and for ambient sounds. Highly recommend!

These Are Great In Certain Situations

If you are bugged or anoyed otherwise by earbuds that you have to wear back in the ear, you might want to give these a try.
They have a speaker that rests comfortably just outside the ear and they hook over your ear.
These are in no way sound reducing or noise blocking so they are not the ones for you if you are looking for earbuds that have that feature.
With these resting comfortably just outside the ear it allows you to still hear all the ambient noise in the area while allowing you to hear your music or video or podcast without disturbing others in the room.
The sound quality really was a big surprise to me and are easily adjusted for a personal audio experience from your smartphone with the app for them.
The battery life in the earbuds themselves is great and you charge and recharge them in the case that comes with them.
The case also charges up so you can recharge the earbuds when the case is charged without the need for an external power source.
To charge up the buds and the case you have the option of using the enclosed USB C or any othe USB C cord or they will charge up by placing the case on a wireless charging pad.
These are not for everyone in every situation, but for many of my purposes they are really grat.

My favorite work out headphones

Admittedly, I primarily worked out with my Google Pixel Buds Pro. They're great earbuds, but I constantly struggle with keeping them in my ears when working out (mainly running). I missed having headphones with ear hooks to be held more secure to my ears. In comes JLab which once again delivers a quality, reasonable priced pair of earbuds specifically tailored to wearing during activities, like working out.
In the box you get the headphones inside the charging case and a short USB charging cable. Getting them up and running is as simple as any Bluetooth headphones nowadays. You will, however, also need to download the JLab app so you can update them and adjust the settings.
In the app you'll be prompted to download firmware, but you can also adjust the EQ settings (something I don't generally do, but I like the option). You can adjust the touch controls and button controls and turn on safe listening to limit the number of dBs.
The design is near perfect in my opinion. The earbuds have a nicely weighted hook that fits securely around your ear, while the speaker sits above your ear. They're open ear, so they don't fit inside your ear canal. This allows you to hear ambient sounds which is important to me when I'm running outside. They will NOT replace your noise cancelling headphones, but trust me, unless you are seeking complete noise isolation, it's not a problem, as it's not as if you can't hear your music or podcast, it gets plenty loud while still retaining the ability to hear nearby noises when you're out and about.
They're sweat and water resistant which is also important to me as I sweat a lot. Now, I will admit I've had a pair of JLabs go bad on me after long periods of sweating, but these appear to have nice shielding (for lack of a better descriptor) around the speaker. As long as you wipe them off after use, they should be perfectly fine.
The charging case charges via USB-C and it's also capable of charging wirelessly. The case gives you about 19 hours of battery while each earbud is rated to give you 7 hours of battery life. Honestly, you shouldn't have any issues with the earbuds dying on you so long as you periodically charge the case and keep the earbuds in there when not in use.
The case itself is relatively small, at least given the shape of the earbuds. It's relatively flat and light. It's made out of what feels like cheap plastic, and I'm not sure how it would fare after multiple drops, but the same can be said for most plastic earbud cases. The hinge opens up completely and the earbuds are easy to take out and put in. Although you will want to make sure you "click:" the earbuds into the case when not in use to ensure proper charging.
I was pretty impressed with the sound quality in light of the fact these are open earbuds and don't have a seal within your ear. The bass is lacking, as one might expect, but it's not as if it's non existent. But the audio is extremely clear, I enjoyed listening to podcasts and the dialogue came out nice and clear. I've made a few phone calls with them and I had no issues on my end, and no one complained about how I sounded. It has noise-canceling microphones which provides for crystal clear calls (and backed up by experience).
The only downside to me were the buttons. I had a hard time using them while working out. It has touch control and buttons. There's a complicated pattern that's pretty easy to memorize when you do it a few times, and while they're advertised as "accurate," I had a hard time getting a response when I was running. (it's easier when you're not moving). But I'm not one to change my audio when I'm running so this was less of a problem for me (I'm more of a pick a playlist and forget it type guy).
CONCLUSION
All-in-all, these are my absolute new favorite headphones for working out and just listening to podcasts around the house. The open design allows me to hear dangerous sounds (when running) and hear people talking to me when I'm in the zone listening to a podcase. It has a terrific sound quality and a great build quality, all at a reasonable price.

Comfort and Situational Awareness!

Wearing earbuds is part of my daily life. I work in a service industry that requires me to be in the field a lot. I like to have earbuds because they allow me to have hands free conversations. In order for this to work, they have to be comfortable, have long battery life, and they have to allow me to be aware of my surroundings. These earbuds check all three of those boxes! Let's talk about comfort. I can wear them all day long without feeling the need to remove them. Unlike earbuds that insert into my ear canal, these do not bother me at all. I almost forget they are even on my ears! The battery life is great as well. I can wear them for hours, all while listening to music and having phone calls, before needing to charge them. The included charging case adds a quick boost allowing me to keep them going all day long. Finally, and possibly most importantly, these allow me to be aware of my surroundings. Being that they don't occlude my ear canal, I can be confident that if something is going on around me, I'll know about it! Now, keep in mind that, with these earbuds being an "open air" design, you do lose some of the quality of audio. That mainly affects the bass response. The audio is good, but do not expect it to be as good as a pair of earbuds that insert into your ear canal. It's a trade off for the open air design, and it's a trade I willingly make to enjoy the awareness of my surroundings!

First, the major positives. For anyone that hates having earbuds in your ear or it hurts to over on-ear or over-ears, these earbuds are absolutely made for you. The comfort is off the charts because you just don’t have anything that presses against sensitive areas. The ear hook is nice and rubberized so you they comfortably rest on the top of your ear. The portion of the earbud that rests floating near your ear canal never actually touches anything there’s no points of pressure. The positioning of the earbuds means they’re easily worn for an extended time period and I took little notice of them as I went on a long walk. With the open conduction design you automatically have full awareness of your surroundings as louder noises easily pass by as your ear isn’t sealed shut by a standard earbud. Also voice quality is great after testing with a couple different callers.
The main limitation and this is just a known factor when you’re using conduction is the sound is fairly light. If you push these up to full volume, they get a little too bright but you will probably have them settle around 75% volume so you can still hear the nuances of any music. For phone calls I needed to turn them up a bit further between 90-95%.
Considering the whole purpose of the design is to free up your ear, reduce any pressure sensations, and allow you to maintain awareness, these earbuds perform admirably.

I bought these to replace my “bone conducting” brand headphones that developed a rattle after years of use
They needed to be comfortable, sweat and rain resistant and have pass through sound. I use these 100% for running on the street
Since I have had other JLab products I decided to give them a try. The price was also right
Unboxing and set-up was simple and fast. The packaging protected them and the Bluetooth was consistent with every other product
Now to compare to the bone conducting headphones
Sound. The JLab are somewhere between an in the ear and bone conducting. Outstanding sound but not quite in the ear quality. Blows away bone conducting
Comfort. As comfortable as bone conducting. You do not know you are wearing them
Pass though sound. Again between in the ear and bone conducting. Be a little more careful on the road
Water resistance. To be determined but I just put them though a sweat test (85 degrees and 70% humidity) and they passed with flying colors
Other benefits. A charging case and quick charging
Drawbacks. As usual you have to learn new button controls. I wish these were standardized

The JLab Epic Open Sport Earbuds are very comfortable over the ear earbuds. I can wear them for hours without irritating my ears. Long hours of wearing in-ear style earbuds makes my ears hurt.
The earbuds connected to my phone and showed up in the JLab App right away. They did want a firmware update, which executed with no problems.
These have Multipoint that seems to work correctly. I have them connected to my phone and my tablet and so far, they switch back and forth correctly.
I admit that I was worried they might fall off during activities. Thankfully, they stay secure even though I’m wearing glasses too. After several days of pretty much constantly wearing these, they haven’t fallen off once. I can’t say that about my in-ear earbuds which I pick up off the floor regularly.
I like the open air style. To be honest I never use noise cancellation when I’m running or working. I feel that I need to stay aware of my surroundings.
I listen to a lot of music, so audio quality is a big deal to me. I found the sound quality is much better than I expected.
The touch controls are small, as expected. But they work well. I like the physical button for play/pause/answer/hang up. Rather than swiping up or down or having to touch a specific tiny, tiny spot. These controls use a short or long presses. For example, one short press on the physical button does play/pause/answer/hang up (depending on the current state), while two short press activates your voice assistant, one long press rejects an incoming call or powers off. Of course these can all be customized using the app.
I really have no complaints. These earbuds are comfortable, easy to use and sound great. If you are in the market for some over the ear earbuds check these out.

I gave 3 star because i dont like that i have to wait 5 seconds to turn off or on. Also the volumen are in both devices, right to up and left to down. I dont like to have both of them on all the time, that for me is a big no. Also battery does not las long, after an hour start saying battery medium. I wish i can return it but is to late for that, the 14 days already pass. Well i have to leep it dor an emergency. By the way, sound quality is very good A+. Also very confortable. These are by far the most comfortable ear buds I have ever worn! I almost forget they are on. I am waiting for the time I accidentally wear them in the pool or shower because I did not know they were on my head!
The sound quality is excellent and truly immersive. The app lets you customize your equalizer, but I find that the "JLab Signature" settings to be perfect for my use. You can set for Music or Movie mode. I like listening to audio books and they are perfect on Movie mode.
The buds sit over your ear opening and not in it so they are extremely easy to use and don't hurt after a while. They fit nicely over your ear and stay put even when exercising.
Because they don't go IN your ear, you can share them with other people. I don't know about you, but I don't want to share "in the ear" buds with anyone else.
I have not answered a call with them but (who calls anyone anymore??) but I understand the clarity is just as good with calls as it is with music, podcasts and audiobooks.
These are my new favorite ear buds. I take them everywhere with me. The charge lasts a long time and as with many others, they charge in the case when not in use.

These headphones are super lightweight I can't tell you how many times I've forgotten I had them on. They wrap around your ears so I haven't had to worry about them falling out. They give better control over the audio control with the app you download to your phone.
