With the volume 1/4 up it's about as loud as you would want it. That makes it hard to find the sweet spot on volume levels. They have 3 setting but no low volume setting... . . Distance & range doesn't seem to be an issue. Instead of paying Apple tons of money I'd rather go with these cheap ones, even with just "okay" sound quality. Apple/ Mac have plenty of money & they don't need any more of mine.

But one of my earbuds battery drains withing 5 minutes of listening. It could be at 100% then at 10% within 5 minutes. I have tried restarting them multiple times and charging the case but it is still doing this.

JLab-GO Air Tones Review

I recommend setting up tracking with the Tile app. The sound quality is great, they stay in my ears even when exercising and they last really long before needing to be charged. My only issue would be is that its really hard to hear outside noise once they are in, even with the volume turned down or off. It's both a pro and con because it makes for really good noise cancelation but can be annoying having to take one out anytime I need to hear what is going on in my surroundings.

Only one bud worked on two different sets.

I returned them. I purchased again from Best Buy thinking maybe I got a knock off from Amazon. Sadly only the right bud worked on the second set from Best Buy. Don't waste your time.
