FOUR of my PCs could NOT recognize the mic!!!

I was really looking forward to using this as my first professional microphone, but FOUR of my Windows PCs could not recognize it as a device!! They are all running Windows 10 pro. As soon as I plug in, I get the “USB not recognized” notification (which is also reflected in the Device Manager “USB controllers” section). The Jlab doesn’t show up at all, in the Sound devices in either Device manager, or the Sound control panel. I’ve searched online for device drivers for the Jlab Talk Pro, and they simply do not exist because apparently it is supposed to be “plug and play” (yeah, right!). The packaging was clearly new, never opened, so I don’t think I received a damaged unit. I also don’t think it’s a defective unit either, don’t see the point of replacing it with another, because there are users who’ve pointed out similar issues. Full disclosure - I haven’t talked to Jlab Tech support. However, I’m an IT professional, pretty technical, so I’m not sure what they would tell me that I haven’t already tried. A plug-and-play device is not supposed to need tech support to plug it in!! I’ll simply return it and get a different brand. If anyone is curious, I’ve tried it on a laptop with USB 3.0 ports only (Surface Book 3), one with USB 2.0 ports only (Thinkpad X200), two others with a combination of both (HP brands), and I also tried using a USB hub as well. Nothing worked!!! Relevant pictures attached.

Purchased this microphone because I needed a separate microphone for my PC while I play console games. Works amazingly well, and have received compliments on how clear and professionally clear my voice comes through. Low profile, USB C connectivity quick mute button, and has headphone jack on the microphone. I love it.

Great Microphone for Casual Users and Enthusiasts

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the amount of calls made through my computer via MS Teams, Zoom, and Skype has drastically increased over the past few months. I had been relying on my webcam's built-in microphone, but I know that such microphones are quite limited in their quality and features. So I was excited to try out the JLab Talk Pro microphone to see if it would help make a better impression during online business calls. Needless to say, the Talk Pro is a massive improvement over virtually any webcam microphone, but might get lost in the mix of other "pro"-oriented consumer microphones. PROS: - This is a pretty cool looking microphone with its black and blue design. It will look great on any desk and, if you're a streamer or YouTuber, should look sleek and modern on camera. - The microphone comes with a nice braided USB-C cable which is plenty long (3 meters). There is practically no set up required - just screw on the tripod, plug in the cable to the microphone and your computer, and you're good to go. - The Talk Pro records audio at 192 kHz and 24-bit resolution, giving it a very dynamic range. This is great if you intend to record music or other events with audio coming from multiple sources. But for the average audio call, Twitch stream, or podcast, this kind of range is probably not needed. Regardless, it's nice to have. - The Talk Pro does an excellent job at filtering out background noise. In my apartment, I usually have a tower fan running right next to me while the air conditioning is also on. Also, during gaming sessions, my CPU and GPU fans usually kick up to a very audible range. During all of my test recordings and calls with the Talk Pro, none of this background noise could be heard. - There are four directional pattern modes that can be selected from the front of the microphone -- cardioid, stereo, omni, and bidirectional -- which makes this incredibly versatile for a microphone in this price range. The omni mode especially is great for business calls around a conference table or a band recording music. - My voice recordings and calls appeared to be plenty loud without having to increase the gain of the microphone very much, so there's no need to raise your voice or increase the gain to its highest setting. - There is an LED screen on the front of the microphone to show you the exact volume and gain levels as you adjust the knobs on the back. CONS: - Compared to one of its biggest rivals -- the Blue Yeti -- the JLab Talk Pro appears to be lacking just a bit in build quality. The mesh grill around the microphone is either a thin metal or plastic, but appears to bend just a little when you rub your fingers against it. The tripod is functional if not a little flimsy: I sometimes struggle to get it to stand perfectly vertical. - There is a neat LED ring at the bottom of the microphone, but it really serves no purpose. Unless your desk is a mirror, or if you're in a completely dark room, you'll probably never see the LED ring. - I wish the gain and volume knobs were on the front of the microphone rather than the back. I sometimes end up turning the wrong knob because I forget which one is where. OVERALL: This is my first dedicated microphone, so I don't have much to compare it to. It is a night-and-day difference compared to any webcam microphone or built-in laptop microphone. Audio quality is excellent, especially for the price, but my sense is that dedicated professionals and audiophiles will probably stick with brands that they already know and love. But for everyone else -- those working from home, streamers, part-time podcasters, etc. -- JLab has introduced a great lineup of microphones that deserve a look. Recommended!

    Great Professional Grade USB Microphone

The JLAB TalkPro USB Microphone is a great addition to my desktop. With the advent of COVID-19 and a Work From Home attitude, it was necessary to upgrade the quality of my microphone, from the tiny one on my bluetooth headset, to a substantial microphone with great sound quality. And the JBL TalkPro delivers just that! In the sleek corporate blue packaging, you get a sturdy microphone, half aluminum (the speaker grill) and half plastic (the body). It has a nice weight to it, especially when you add the 5/8" screw in stand. The stand is cylindrical, so you could use it to hold the mic if you wanted to, but splays out with 3 legs to provide a nice solid base for it. The microphone comes with the stand, and a 4ft braided USB to USB-C power cable. Minimal instructions because this microphone is 100% plug and play. I am using it on a Mac, simply plugged it in the back and I was ready to go. There are separate volume and gain control knobs on the back of the microphone, and an LED display on the front of the microphone, that lights up green for the gain adjustment, and blue for the volume adjustment. The lights dissipate when set, so as not to distract. There are no drivers required at all, on either PC or Mac to get the microphone set up, allowing you to get recording quickly. In the center of the mic is a mute button, that is green when unmuted and red when muted. Nice and easy to get to, especially in the middle of a meeting. Right there in front of you. Below the LED panel is a JLAB button, that toggles between the 4 different pattern modes. You have: Cardioid: suitable for meetings, streaming, voice overs, podcasting etc - basically picking up all the sound directly from your mouth to the mic. Omni: suitable for group calls, multi-person podcasting and group music recording - essentially picking up sound from all sides of the microphone. Stereo: Ideal for music recording - picking up sound from the left and right side of the mic. Bidirectional: Two person interviews, voice over, streaming and duet music recording - receives sound from two directions, in front and behind the mic as you look at it. The microphone records at professional-quality resolution of 192kHz/24BIT, a sound quality that you can hear. During one of my meetings, I switched from my regular headphone mic, to the new JLAB TalkPro and my colleagues were very impressed with the level of sound quality as I rejoined the meeting. I haven't stopped using it since! There is a slightly more 'gimmicky' LED color ring on the bottom of the mic. It has many different modes, from fading, circling, rainbow and individual colors, but as the user, you don't see the ring from your view point, and neither does a person sat opposite you. It sets off a nice glow at night, in the dark, but aside from that it isn't adding a huge amount to the microphone. I did have two issues with the microphone, initially the braided cable that came with my microphone was causing the mute state to fluctuate on and off on it's own, intermittently, and also with any volume adjustment on my Mac. Secondly, the JLAB button below the LED has to be given a firm press in order to change between states. If you just tap on the button, you'll get a click, but it may not change states. JLAB customer service was impeccable and they exchanged the microphone for me very quickly indeed. Great customer service JLAB! PROS: • Great quality recording - 192kHZ/24BIT recording sample rate • Well built - aluminum and high quality plastics • Intuitive - plug and play, easy to set up • Attractive design CONS: • There is no 'off' button - you have to unplug the mic • Microphone adjustment side screws are slippery • JLAB sound mode button needs to be pressed 'firmly' to act Overall, very pleased with the JLAB TalkPro Professional Grade USB Microphone, delivers great recording quality in an easy to use, plug and play device. It's good looking on the desk and unobtrusive.

This was the perfect opportunity to update my voice over microphone for my PowerPoint Presentations. LONG 10-foot audio cable so placement will never be a problem. The outer covering feels like braided cloth. Quality! The audio reproduced was amazing. So clear, the mic picked up the whirl of my ceiling fan. At least I could notice it. Great because: * Choice of pickup direction with the touch of a button. * Cardiod ( heart shape front only pickup ) * Omni (All around the room) * Stereo ( left and right channels) * Bi-directional ( you and your guest speaker) * Includes a 3.3mm output jak for monitoring * Gain control to adjust mic sensitivity * Volume control * MUTE button on front and recording toggle button The mic is powered through the USB connector port. It is instantly recognized. and ready to go. Just select it from your Microphone setting in the control panel or the Microphone Icon on the task bar. The included tripod stand works nicely either on a table or placed on the floor for instrumental recordings. What really matters is the sound reproduction. Perfect and true to life. Cute color halo on the bottom of the mic produced a subtle glow.

Signing Myself Up for My Own Talkshow

Joke aside from my title the JLAB Talk Pro is very neat. It is a smart design with beautiful design aesthetic and detail. The metal grill that houses that recognizable blue hue of soft cushion of JLAB products. I'd say 90% of people I know dislike how they sound when recorded. I include myself in that number because it is always weird to hear myself. However, as much as it is a anxious thing I got my Talk Pro, plugged it in and tried every one of the settings to see what my voice sounded like. You know what? It isn't as bad as I thought. In fact, what it really highlighted was how low quality phone microphones are and that is probably why we all dislike our voices sometimes. Now this isn't to say i'm going to start singing tunes but it provided comfort for me knowing that I can know start up a stream for when I play Fortnite and not be annoyed by my own voice. All these other streamers sound normal and I found the right setting to make my voice carry over well. Given this is my first standalone microphone I was baffled that I got this high tech microphone but it doesn't have it's own speaker. I came to learn that I probably wouldn't like a speaker built in because then there might be an echo. So I immediately plugged my JLAB earbuds to the microphone and I was quickly making some fun audio clips for myself. One of the neat and very personal touches was the LED light at the bottom of the device. When propped on the stand if you click through the settings it will change color for you so that you can entertain others watching you use the mic. Not a big whoop but I can appreciate a nice surprise. On top of that the packaging was thoughtful and very much a JLAB surprise when I opened up my box and my microphone was hugged by foam and neatly packaged. If you've got someone in your home that wants to start a stream, an audio cast for voice blogging, or simply wants to try singing this is a microphone that will get you studio quality sound. I very much enjoy this and can't wait to see how well my stream goes next week!

    Modern, Robust Microphone

JLab has been stepping up their game recently. With the release of these new microphones, they can be catered towards streamers, audio recording, and for at home event recordings. Although the JLab Talk Pro is priced higher than the other two new microphones, there are many useful and handy features included in this microphone that justify it's price tag. With its black and blue metallic aesthetic, it gives off a clean, robust feel. Located below the microphone there is a USB C port (right angled USB C cable provided in packaging, nice touch by JLab), a hole to screw in the included stand, a headphone port (for listening to yourself while recording or other content), and to top it off a color changing light around the bottom rim and it's button to switch effects and colors. On the side, there are knobs for gain control (adjust how loud your audio recording is) and for volume of the headphone jack output, a button to switch the audio recording direction, a mute button, and stand that has another hole to screw on the adjustable foot stand. Speaking about the 3 foot adjustable stand, JLab included this screw on attachment with the mic as well. As the Talk Pro model is the highest model in JLab's new microphone lineup, it includes 192kHz/24BIT resolution recording with 4 directional audio pattern modes. These modes are Cardioid (record audio from just front of microphone), Omni (record audio from all around, 360°), Stereo (record from front, left, and right sides), and Bidirectional (record from front and behind of microphone). With a variety of uses including streaming or blogs, music, conference calls, and two person interviews, these modes become very useful and having a button located at the front of the microphone is an added bonus. When recording, I observed clear audio from the 3 condenser microphones in the Talk Pro model. I noticed that keeping the gain at about 50% produced great voice clarity from a few feet away but your results may vary. I did notice that background was picked up when raising the gain so you might have to play around with the gain to achieve your desired results. Nonetheless audio sounded great when using all four of the recording modes. Overall, this was the mic that included everything that I would've liked in a microphone, from knobs to adjust the recording volume and a mute button, to a colorful light and two different ways to position the microphone for audio recording adjustment. I would definitely recommend to those looking to get into streaming, blogging, or recording music as this records audio with great clarity.

Was not happy at all. Bought this item and as soon as I brought it home, could not get it to connect to any of our laptops (tried 3). While checking connections the back plastic cover where you plug into for connection, popped off. Poorly built, very unhappy with the product and currently packing the device up to go back to the store and switch products. Been on hold waiting for support from Best Buy for 45 mins now and not once answer or telling me how long until I will receive help. Very in happy, if I could give 0 stars I would.

Solid Performing Mic at an Excellent Price Point

The JLab Talk Pro is a Solid Prosumer microphone for recording podcasts and streaming. When I first held the JLab Talk Pro was intrigued by how light it is (266.5gr) without the stand. Half the weight of similar microphones. Light weight is accomplished with sturdy plastic construction and thin metal housing surrounding the diaphragm. No mic dropping here. Sound quality is good although do not recommend for recording instruments. The Talk Pro appears geared towards YouTube/Twitch streamers and podcasters and is an exceptional product for these applications. Remarkably, the microphone can record at 24 bit/192Khz. JLab Talk Pro does a superb job at background noise reduction although it does affect the overall recording a bit. One favorite feature is the LED bar which indicates the exact levels of gain and passthrough volume to help fine tune sound to your liking. The pattern switching button has an audible click and is picked up by the microphone. You shouldn’t be using this button during recordings, so should not be an issue. Mute button has tactile feedback without introducing any noise, nice. Mic stand is constructed of metal with rubber feet, grips surfaces securely. Stand can also fold compactly and has a standard 5/8 thread which can be use with almost any other mic as well. Bottom of the Talk Pro houses a customizable RGB ring and an AUX port for low-latency audio passthrough. JLab Talk Pro is a solid performing Prosumer Microphone for podcasts, streaming, gaming, and all-around everyday use. Not direct feedback on the quality and cool factor, but as soon as I completed reviewing the JLab it vanished from my office and can now be found in my son’s Video Production/Gaming Studio. That is high praise.

The JLab Talk Pro USB Microphone is a pretty solid plug n' play microphone. MSRP is at $149.99. It claims to have a professional grade recording but I didn't have anything to compare it to being my first usb mic. It supports 4 directional patterns (Cardioid, Omni, Stereo, and Bidirectional). There are 2 adjustment dials built in, Volume and Gain, along with a quick mute button. Built in, is a 3.5 mm jack port so you can use headphones to hear yourself speak through the mic. In the Box, you get, The Talk Pro USB mic, a desktop tripod, and a 4ft USB Type C to USB 3 cable. underneath the mic is the USB C port, LED light and switch, and another mic stand port. The mic itself is made of plastic making it pretty light and portable, but the built on mount is metal. I think it has built in noise reduction. I chatted with a couple of friends to test it and they told me that they could hear me pretty clear with not much background noise. Overall a pretty good solid microphone with a decent sound.

This microphone is fantastic! Incredibly easy to set up and use, the on-body controls are great and easy to use, complete with a meter on the front of the unit that indicates the levels you have set. This is especially nice, as it doesn't force you to adjust any software controls and gives you a nice interface and easy way to gauge where you like to keep you microphone levels. The audio quality is excellent, especially for the price! This would be perfect for anyone doing a lot of podcasts, video conferencing, and game streaming. The microphone has 4 distinct pickup patterns that give is a little extra flexibility for use, and the USB-C interface allows for easy use with many different devices if you still want to use it on the go! All things considered, this is an incredible microphone for the price and very feature rich!

PROs: - Simple setup with included bracket, collapsing tripod stand, and 10 foot (whoa!) braided USB-C to USB-A cable...screw the tripod into the bottom of the bracket, hook up the cable to the USB-C port on the mic and an open USB-A port on your PC or hub and you're off to the races--totally plug-and-play on a Windows PC - 4 controls to operate the mic are easy to reach and actuate--the volume and gain rotary adjustment knobs (helpfully labeled 'G' & 'V' in easy-to-see white lettering) are on the back while a quick-mute button and a recording directional pattern selector button are on the front...there's actually a small push-button at the bottom for LED ring on/off/color selection, but that's really just for show and in practice is a slightly a weird design choice anyway (more on that later) - If you're dishing out the bank for a prosumer-level microphone like this, you probably don't need the quick-start guide, but the one that's included is simply written, easy-to-follow, with some very helpful illustrations to get you going inside of a few seconds - Definitely has some modern "cool factor" to the design if you're creating video content where the mic will be in the shot--the blue accents peeking out through the grill-work under the top half of the microphone is a neat effect; the LEDs that remain lit during operation (green or red LED icon for mic-mute status, blue LED for directional pattern indicator, and the bottom multi-color ring if you've got it engaged) have are pretty unobtrusive when lit...the segmented LED display for the volume (blue) or gain (green) level only stay illuminated for about 15 seconds after adjustment before going blank again - Amazing hardware (almost overkill) bit-depth (24-bit) and sampling rate (192 kHz) means this mic is a great choice to make incredibly detailed, high-resolution recordings where software interpolation isn’t necessary to achieve original, master-quality/archival audio files - Seems fairly solid and well-built yet still relatively light-weight—even on the collapsible stand, the whole setup is a travel-friendly 1.7 lbs, about 1/2 the weight of the Talk PRO’s most obvious competition (Blue Yeti Pro) which tips the scales at 3.3 lbs on the stand - 4 selectable recording patterns (cardioid, omnidirectional, stereo, and bidirectional) allow the mic to optimize sensitivity for: solo/studio recording when it’s just you sitting in front of the mic; a round-table style performance with participants seated all around the mic; musical-style (stereo) recordings with a sound field that images properly left, right and center (L+R); and interview-style bidirectional recordings with participants seated in front and back of the microphone - Standard 5/8” screw mount on the bottom of the mic AND the mic stand as well as adjustable/removable pivot screws in the mount give you multiple options for mounting the entire setup (or just the main mic unit) to tripods, booms, and other mounting points with maximum flexibility in placement and pivot/positioning - Seemed to do well at handling noisy backgrounds while still providing clear vocal recordings—I created several sample tracks via Adobe Audition CC using the mic while sitting next to my relatively loud PC with a small USB fan running and it was only after cranking up the gain (or adjusting the recording pattern to something other than cardioid) that I could start to make out the background hum of the PC and fan in the recordings themselves—MS Teams and Adobe Connect call quality under these conditions was exceptional according to my office mates and students - The mic also serves as an external USB soundcard with a 3.5mm headphone/aux output at the bottom to provide you a real-time monitor of what your listeners/audience will be hearing with no processing delay. Just plug your headphones into the jack at the bottom of the mic and chose ‘JLAB TALK PRO MICROPHONE’ as the current Windows playback device…the separate rotary dials on the back of the mic allow you to adjust the volume of the headphone output without having to change the gain of the input signal from the microphone itself—it’s a great way to provide you real-time control/auditing of what your audience is actually hearing CONs: - The collapsible tripod will kind of hold its shape if the legs aren’t extended fully, but not very securely—at anything but full extension, the tripod legs will shift and start to collapse under even slight pressure or movement. For maximum stability, you obviously need to fold the legs all the way out, but then that eats up quite a bit of desk real-estate. The fully-extended tripod footprint requires nearly 8” of space between each leg…because the entire setup is pretty lightweight already, some friction locks on the legs to hold the stand in place with a slightly smaller footprint would have been appreciated - Like so many PC accessories these days, the bottom LED ring offers a few interesting color choices (red, light green, purple, light blue, dark blue, dark green, and orange) and lighting effects (1-color static, 1-color breathing, 1-color chasing fade, rainbow chasing fade, and multi-color cycle). It’s fun at first, but the design of the mic is such that proper orientation is to speak into the sides, not into the top (this is covered in the quick-start guide). This means the mic itself will almost always be oriented perpendicular to the tabletop, or at least, perpendicular to the user’s eyes/face. Therefore, the LED lighting effects running around the bottom ring will almost always be pointed down and away from the speakers! - Speaking of the bottom of the mic, there isn’t a lot of clearance between the headphone jack and the inside base of the mic’s support frame. If your headphone cable has a particularly large shell or long bit of strain relief behind the 3.5mm plug, or the cable itself is rather heavy or inflexible, you may have some *minor* difficulty maneuvering the cable, plug, mic, and mic stand around, especially if the mic is oriented perfectly vertical without any pivot forward or rearward. JLab obviously realized this issue during design because the supplied USB cable includes a right-angle connector at the USB-C end so you’re not fighting against the stand and USB cable—a short right-angle 3.5mm adapter might have been a nice inclusion in the box to mitigate the same issue for the headphone jack - Despite the reassuring feel of the mic’s build quality in general, the grillwork around the top half of the mic seems far more fragile and less tolerant of travel, frequent handling, or mishaps than the rest of the setup. I’m sure this is out of necessity given the design choice (long, vertical fins rather than a metal basket-weave style covering), but I applied some VERY gentle pressure to the fins and noted some flex and bend in the metal which makes me wonder whether it would survive even a small topple off the stand without a permanent dent or two. Now, granted, this is a prosumer level microphone that most people will probably use in a studio rather than just pitching it carelessly into an overnight bag or backpack--so this isn’t a major knock to be sure. But if you care about keeping your gear pristine, some extra caution is definitely suggested for storage or when moving this unit about - Maybe it’s just me, but the mute button setup on the front of the mic feels just a tad clumsy. Specifically, the mic is sensitive enough that I picked up the sound of my fingers rustling against the shell as I reached for and operated the mute button. And because the microphone is so light, you can’t just push the mute button in with your fingertip; you need to grasp/balance the entire microphone to steady it before you can press the button inward. Sure, I could mute the mic with various and sundry Windows controls or simply edit out the offending sounds in Audition, but a small remote cable with a mute button/switch, or better still a remote Bluetooth or RF mute dongle, would have elevated this setup BEYOND the competition Summary review: The JLab Talk PRO was obviously designed as direct competitor to the Blue Yeti Pro—it’s right in their marketing materials and all of the features JLab touts are matched literally point-for-point, spec-for-spec, against Yeti’s Pro mic. In that respect, you really do get a tremendous amount of performance and capability that comes in a full $100 cheaper than the competition. Sadly, I don’t have a Yeti Pro against which to compare sound quality, though I do have several high-quality gaming headsets (Logitech, Corsair, Audeze, Sennheiser) with some fairly well-regarded mic setups of their own against which to compare the Talk PRO’s results. In all cases, the JLab provided a much more detailed, clear, and certainly more natural voice quality for my recordings as captured via Adobe Audition CC; and even in relatively mundane settings like MS Teams or Zoom virtual meetings, the JLab Talk PRO delivered the fullest and most natural sounding vocals of the bunch without needing a boom mic in my face to do it…no more headphones for telework! If you were already contemplating the price of admission for a prosumer level microphone, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with the results the JLab provides, or with saving quite a bit of cash over the purchase price of the most obvious direct competitor. Sure, it’s certainly possible to get even higher quality results, but you’ll definitely pay more to get there—and I should think the question of diminishing returns then starts to figure into the equation. The multiple recording patterns and 24/192 recording resolution is actually pretty amazing at this price point; so if you’re a budget-conscious content creator, you can still rest easily knowing you’ll be operating near the summit of attainable recording quality and capabilities with the JLab Talk PRO.

The JLab Talk Pro USB Microphone is very easy to set up and is pretty much plug & play like advertised. My main uses for this mic are video/call conferencing, ASMR recording, and the occasional podcast or leisure music recording. Easy Access Buttons - The 4 directional pattern modes are switched very easily with the bottom button on the front of the mic. I liked Cardioid and Stereo best. Stereo was great for music recording and Cardioid was my go-to for ASMR recording. - The quick mute button is quite handy, especially on conference calls where I don’t necessarily need to be talking for most of the meeting. - The volume and gain dial knobs are fairly easy to access on the back of the microphone and the front of the microphone has a good interface indicating the volume and gain levels (blue and green respectively). - One fun feature is the LED light at the bottom of the mic. It has many color options as well as static color, spinning color, or multi-color; changed by a click of a button on the bottom of the mic. Accessories - The provided braided USB-C to USB cable is thick, sturdy, plenty long, and is even angled on the USB-C end to fit perfectly between the mic and the yoke. - Included is also a 5-8” mount mini-tripod with rubber feet and it’s quite solid. Portability - The Talk Pro is a great addition to my tech collection and is very handy to use on a whim wherever my laptop is. - I really like the packaging, it makes it easy for storage. Final Thoughts - Overall, this is a great quality product from JLab. I like the microphone itself as well as the included accessories. - While I won’t be using this for my professional voice over work (I prefer an XLR mic for VO and it’s a hassle to take it out of the booth) it’s a great sounding microphone and I have not experienced any of the notorious USB feedback in recordings.

Best Buy was good with delivery . JLab Audio Talk Pro microphone itself is a nice product and works well for Zoom meetings, podcasts, music, etc. Easy to use. However, the 4 stars is due to the faulty USB cable that comes with it to connect the mic to the computer. Contacted JLab and they sent another cable, however, the second one doesn't work either. So....how did I know it was the cable and not the mic ?....... I connected the USB cable that charges my cell phone and the JLab mic worked ! One problem....the cell phone cable is too short to use permanently. Had to spend additional $$ to buy another USB - 10 ft. cable from another source. Now the Mic works. So if you get one of these mics and it doesn't work for you, it's probably the cable. This is a plug & play mic...... no software needed to deal with or download. Only recommend as JLab customer service was helpful.

This microphone is ready to go right when you plug it into your computer. The sound quality is fantastic! Crisp, clear sound and smart background noise cancellation make my voice easy to hear, even whispers and from a distance. The different settings are great for all types of situations, whether you want focussed, unidirectional or all-around omnidirectional sound capture. One very small nitpick is that the tripod can be a bit too intrusive. I say this because the microphone itself is not at all heavy, so the tripod doesn't need to be that wide. And most of the time the best sound capture is when you're close to the microphone. Other than that, this was a great purchase. It looks nice, too! A professional design for podcasters, gamers and music composers.

As an aspiring content creator and someone who values quality audio, I must say that the iJLab TALK PRO Professional USB Microphone was a major disappointment. From the moment I unboxed it, it became evident that this microphone was far from a professional-grade solution. Build Quality: Right off the bat, the build quality of the iJLab TALK PRO was underwhelming. The microphone felt flimsy and cheaply made, with a lightweight and plastic construction that did not inspire confidence in its durability. Within a short time of using it, the microphone began to exhibit performance issues, such as intermittent audio drops and erratic behavior. Sound Quality: The most critical aspect of any microphone is its sound quality, and unfortunately, the iJLab TALK PRO fell flat in this regard. The audio output was muffled and lacked clarity, resulting in a poor recording and streaming experience. Even after adjusting settings and trying various configurations, the microphone failed to deliver the crisp and professional sound I expected. Broken Components: As mentioned earlier, the microphone's poor build quality led to broken components. The USB connection became loose, causing the microphone to disconnect frequently during use. This unreliability was not only frustrating but also disrupted my work and creative projects. Inadequate Stand: The included stand was simply inadequate for any average-sized desk. It was flimsy and unstable, struggling to hold the microphone securely in place. As a result, I had to constantly readjust the position of the microphone, which hindered my productivity and added unnecessary hassle. Compatibility Issues: The plug-and-play promise of the iJLab TALK PRO turned out to be more of a marketing gimmick than a reality. The microphone had compatibility issues with multiple devices, including computers and laptops, which led to further frustration and troubleshooting. Conclusion: In all honesty, the iJLab TALK PRO Professional USB Microphone is a subpar product that I cannot recommend to anyone seeking reliable and high-quality audio. Its poor build quality, lackluster sound performance, broken components, and inadequate stand make it a frustrating and disappointing purchase. If you're serious about achieving professional-grade audio for your content creation or other projects, I strongly advise looking for alternative options from more reputable brands.

I had an important public event that needed to be live-streamed and recorded. Additionally, I occasionally have some presentations that require narration. I wanted something good that was not going to break the bank. This mic does a great job for both scenarios. Having the ability to adjust the sound fields, volume, and gain right on the mic makes life simple. The only true negative is that the shell of this mic is a pretty cheap plastic, not all metal. The challenge I ran into, but not a deficiency of the mic specifically, is that this requires USB 3.0 for both power and speed. Unbeknownst to me until I got everything prepped for the big show, is that USB 3.0 cable length is not supposed to exceed about 10 feet without amplifiers. It might work beyond that, but the official USB standard limits the length. I was not willing to risk it, so I put a powered hub in the line to make sure the mic got everything it required to work properly. In the end, I got crystal clear audio that seems to practically hear a pin drop. I am really happy with the purchase and would definitely recommend this to someone who needs an above average mic at a reasonable price.
