Taken was one of my favorite movies of the last decade which unfortunately sparked a trilogy of less than stellar sequels. I originally went into John Wick with little in the way of expectations but my mind was quickly blown away! This movie gave me the same feelings of excitement as did the original Taken but this movie takes everything to the next level. Not only is the action superbly crafted and filmed (thank you no quick cuts!), but it also has a captivating method of world building that just leaves you curious to find out more. The music is stellar with several tracks that I long to hear even outside the movie (Taken had no such hook except for the end credits songs from Taken and Taken 2). I love how each encounter is engaging and exciting without feeling overwhelming. Like Mad Max: Fury Road, the action is very consisted without feeling like too much. However, unlike that movie which felt very repetitive, this one is able to keep each encounter feeling unique. Truly an action fan's dream movie! (PS. JW 2 is pretty great as well with JW3 being the best so far).

This is the first in a series of films that all basically have one running plot line. An assassin for hire (Keanu Reeves), now retired, is grieving over the loss of his wife. Her final gift given him, his beloved dog, is killed by Russian mobsters, which kick starts the adventure. Being one who knows how to really hold a grudge, John Wick comes out of retirement and goes on a rampage to avenge himself. The real plot, however, revolves around the does and don't and the privileges of the assassins guild he is a member of. His attitude about the rules in this case leads him into trouble, which is the continuing plot of the second film John Wick 2. The bad guy body count is beyond the average person's ability to count, but then there are no good guys in this den of killers to feel remorse for. Well executed, fast action drama with very creative, choreographed, gun violence and other methods of removing the obstacles in his path.

I bought this based on how well I liked the original movie. The acting was excellent across the board. I would have liked better writing with regard to character development/story line which relied on short banter to backfill the history/relationships between characters. The story continues based on the first John Wick movie (so I would recommend seeing that first) and the first several minutes of this movie is spent laying the foundation of the myth and legend of John Wick, the assassin nicknamed The Boogyman, who went on a killing spree over having his car stolen and his puppy killed by Russian mafia-types (in the prior movie). He is now working on getting his car back. A marker/debt is called in - the debt payable to an Italian boss who facilitated John's prior 'retirement' from the assassin career. The marker is only now able to be called in because the previous retirement honored by the other professionals is now disregarded since John went active in vengeance against the Russians. The fight scenes and shootouts seem more lengthy in this sequel. John is more vulnerable as a target and several colleagues/adversaries seem more challenging in this movie than the prior. Keanu is thoroughly convincing without under or overplaying the character - which is why I think this still works. This plot plays out like a chess game that winds down to checkmate. The ending was a bit of a surprise and I would like to see how the next John Wick movie is written.

Excellent Keanu Reaves action movie that comes with both a DVD & Blue Ray disk. The package also states that it includes a digital copy that you can download for 2 different platforms, one of which is for Apple. Please also note that the digital copy states that it expires on 6/2021. HOWEVER, the download DID WORK. Very excited about this purchase. Thank you for the opportunity to share this review.

It's a good movie, what else can I say about it? Its blu-ray so it does produce a good quality picture and sound.

I like John Wick. 5he movie is almost as good as The Matrix. The whole plot just changed over his wife final gift to him. I loved how the action changed like that. I can't wait for John Wick 4 to come to blu-ray. I'm going to get it. Keanu Reeves has truly outdone himself. It was great classic. I love watching it. Thanks Best Buy.

I know the movie is almost a decade old, but I never saw it and since Best Buy is having a fire sale on physical media, I gave it a shot. It's a little over the top, but man, what a fun movie. Just good old entertaining action - 1 guy vs. the world. Keanu is one the best!

My introduction to the world of John Wick began with a rental request by my son. I am not a particular fan of the action genre but I was pretty keen on several of the cast members so I decided to watch it on that merit. It became an instant household favorite! Plenty of replay value. I have loaned my Blu-ray copy out to many friends and family members who also unanimously enjoyed this film. I was super excited to find all three chapters on 4k this season and bought sets for myself and for my (now adult) kids.

This film is unequaled in regards to choreographed action, non stop , that can be described as gorgeous artistic violence. Reeves utilizes his real world skills and scene after scene is spectacular to witness . Like a perfect ballet . Great casting, visual stying and adult comic book like features add to the pure thrill and entertainment of the film. Amazing, a cut way above any typical action oriented film.

All of the John Wick movies are equal in action and all are eqully as good as the other. This is probably one of the top sequel movie events that I've ever seen. You keep anticipating for the next sequel.

Honestly, probably a lot better than it deserves to be, but Keanu Reeves really brings it all together. Sometimes people really just need to learn to leave well enough alone!
