This movie is great, has amazing FUNNY lines, fast action, really sets a nice pace. The sound is great, can't say enough good things about the sound, it has what you expect for the money you spend on a disk of this magnitude, the money they spent was well placed. You get high quality content. The CGI is so realistic you forget its CGI and just fall into the story and lose yourself in the emotion and staging of the drama and action.

I had moved and was having issues getting cable and internet hooked up, for like two months, so on Black Friday last year I went to Best Buy and bought a bunch of movies to keep myself entertained (I’d switched to digital over the years, and not having internet meant I couldn’t watch any of them). I picked out some of my favorite movies and made it through the dark times lol.

Without a doubt i was blown away with how great this movie ended being. I was completely surprised by how good it was & without a doubt the best one made since the first Jurrasic Park movie. The limited edition package i'm not feeling at all. Its a nice display but i would have been happier with a steelbook.

A sequel that's truly worthy of the original film!

While it is not the only Jurassic Park sequel, I think it is definitely the best of them. Part of the appeal is that it goes back to, and actually opens the original park. So there are a lot of tie ins to the original movies. Some subtle (like the t-shirt worn by the control room guy) to not so subtle (like going back to the original visitor's center).
This time around the park is running and functional, and run by Bryce Dallas Howard's character Claire. We learn that as a part of keeping the park fresh new dinosaurs (attractions) are being created, and this time engineering dinosaurs that did not really exist. Of course exactly what could go wrong does go wrong, and the typical action that has accompanied all the movies ensues. Of course the Raptors are central to the story line again, which is where Chris Pratt's character Owen comes in. In a nice tie back to the original movie BD Wong returns as the head scientist making many of the same mistakes he made (and more) in the original film, and the movie definitely teases a larger role for his character in the eventual sequel(s).
While the chances are good that many reading this review will have already seen the movie, I will not spoil it for those who do not. What I can say beyond what I already have is that the dinosaurs are the main characters of the movie, but it is very well acted by all the actors involved. Chris Pratt has really cemented his leading man status that started in Guardians of the Galaxy. He is able to do a complete 180 degree switch from his doofus Parks and Rec character and be a stern action here, but still bring some quick witted snark to the film as well. It would not worked nearly as well if he and Bryce Dallas Howard did not play their characters as well as they did, and the two did not have (or were not able to fake) the chemistry they seemed to have.
While I do think the movie fell into the trap of trying to get too cute with matching the story from the first movie (Claire's nephews being out in the park alone in danger, the large unstoppable dinosaur that gets loose etc) it did a lot to stand on its own too. And I do think that going forward the movies will be a lot less like the original movie and more of their own thing.
For those who get the blu ray, the movie looks and sounds great as you would expect. There are quite a few behind the scenes and making of features, as well as some deleted scenes and a "close shaves" feature which shows some of the near death experiences from all 4 of the movies in the franchise. Probably a couple hours worth of extra material in all, which is not bad for a 2 hr movie. If you get the limited edition version it comes in a circular tin case that sits on a cardboard sleeve. It is not the best packaging ever, and is more meant to actually sit on its own on a shelf than be stuck sideways with a bunch of other DVDs.
If you are generally a fan of the franchise I think you will enjoy this movie too. Especially if you were enjoyed Part III, because I think this is a lot better than that installment. It does suffer a little from copying the first movie, but it is not a blatant shot for shot ripoff. I would definitely recommend it.

This movie is a worthy entry to the Jurassic Park cinematic universe. It's honestly no more ridiculous than any of the other films, just powered by a bigger CGI budget and stronger technology.
People complain about a main character spending the film in heels, but given the context it's one of the more realistic aspects of the film.
Just enjoy the ride.

Jurassic World brings back iconic elements from the original 1993 film but thrusts us forward into uncharted Jurassic territory.
Jurassic World, a 2015 American science fiction adventure film, is the fourth installment of the Jurassic Park series and directed by Colin Trevorrow. The screenplay, written in a harrowing three weeks, is written by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver and Derek Connolly & Colin Trevorrow. The film stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D'Onofrio, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, Omar Sy, Irrfan Khan and B.D. Wong, who is the only actor to reprise his role from any of the previous films. Trevorrow did a great job directing the film, however, a more Hitchcock style might've added more thriller aspects giving it the edge of your seat feel that would be hard to top.
The film is set twenty-two years later on Isla Nublar, the original location of the Jurassic Park film, with a thriving theme park complete with various rides, stores and hotels. The park looks like it has been thriving for quite some time without incident until a genetically created dinosaur, the Indominus Rex, escapes its containment area and creates havoc across the island. This premise is unique in that the audience is immersed into the world quickly. The beauty of the island is breathtaking. The production design is elaborate and should be commended. While the film was shot with Panavision lenses, a Cook lens might have given it more depth of beauty to the long shots and the landscapes.
Jurassic World falls nicely into the timeline created by the first three films and the theme of this film also resonates with the original as well. It is a matter of showing respect to every living creature and what happens when you don't. The character arcs were typical for this type of film as we see Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) go from strictly business to appreciate the animals in the park, and realizing the family she's missed out on all along. Some missed opportunities were utilizing Jake Johnson's character, Lowery, in a more comedic role and the villain, Vincent D'Onofrio's character, Hoskins, could have been more conniving, something to the effect of how D'Onofrio played Wilson Fisk on Daredevil (the Netflix series).
Jurassic World is quite the paced action-adventure beat by beat and with a sequel already in the works, it will be worth the wait if it's anything like this one. In the meantime we'll take Owen's (Chris Pratt) advice:
Claire: So now what do we do?
Owen: Probably stay together. For survival.

First of all, DVD, Blu Ray, and Digital pack, so three options right there. Boom. Anyhow, the film itself. Does it rely on the tropes and beats of the first material? Yes. Does it rely on nostalgia? Yes, particularly in the climax and closing, which significantly propel the movie's standing in an overall positive direction. Does the overall nostalgia help or hurt the film? A little bit of both. Can you enjoy it regardless? Oh yes. Is there enough here that's new to enjoy it more? OH YES. We are treated with a scenario very similar to the first film, but we've been away from it for long enough that it feels more fresh and exciting this time around than the first two sequels. This movie is equal parts sequel and homage. However, there are enough new story elements and factors to negate from the feeling that we're retreading and repeating familiar ground and storylines. We're treated to an overall familiar scenario. Yes, there are similar plot points, yes the story does revolve around several characters making several mistakes (so, so many mistakes), but they're different mistakes with different intentions from the first film(s), and we certainly see characters and relationships grow at a much more accelerated pace, as this story takes place over the course of less than one day, whereas the other took at least a weekend. Additional differences and factors in the plot do raise the stakes and magnify the consequences of people's actions and decisions. There are moments throughout when the 'shaky cam' trend pervades the viewing experience, but not enough to detract from the over all experience. Some visual effects are jarring in this day and age of HD and digital effects, and maybe don't impress or stand out with the same magnitude as they did (and STILL do) in the original film, but we're talking about a theme park full of dinosaurs. The score is a wonderful work in its own right, and I would recommend purchasing that as well. Overall, while it may tread familiar ground, it's still a thrilling five star experience. Enjoy!

What Jurassic Park 2 Should have Been

I have to be honest, I was a little sceptic of this movie when I first heard about its release, which is why I waited for it to be released on BluRay. However, once I finally watched the movie by renting it on DirecTV, I had no choice but to follow my instincts gained from the viewing experience and purchase the BluRay. It is unquestionable that this movie is what any of the sequels should have been released so many years ago. The movie was put together as well as the first one, and you could watch this first movie and but for a comment here and a scene there you could believe this was the first inception of the series altogether. Not one of the original characters, but for a small exception you wouldn't have otherwise expected, without naming that individual to ruin or spoil anyone's experience who may not have seen the movie yet, were casted in this version. However, the new actors fit well into their characters and their overall position and part to the movie, and while keeping the original format of the Jurassic Park intellectual property intact it still seemed fresh and not forced or coerced the viewer into experiencing a dry reiteration of the same formula you would expect from one of these movies. Sure, you can essentially anticipate what the start, middle and end of the movie will be just from reading the title, but when it came to this iteration of the series, it wasn't what you knew would happen out of expectation but the ride that got you from beginning to the end of this movie.
It is truly difficult for a series to reinvent itself without taking blowback, and few titles have successfully undertaken that prospect, one of which includes Evil Dead. However, Jurassic Park is a home run hit for the producers, director and actors and at the end of the movie I could't find a single gripe over the experience other than the fact that I wish there was more but not because I felt shorted, only because I was so entertained and wished it didn't have to end.

I just saw this movie at the theater and I wanted to write a review for the people waiting for the DVD or Blu-ray to come out. I liked the film but let me explain a couple of things. Since I was a child I have been fascinated by dinosaurs and I knew their names and statistics before I knew the names of all of my cousins. What can I say; I was a typical geek boy. I also loved Michael Crichton who wrote the book Jurassic Park and I consider his books to be among the best Sci-Fi I have read. I also loved the original film so I just had to see this one.
I found the film to be entertaining and full of action and the acting was solid and the CGI was perfectly done. The film animation of the dinosaurs was amazing. The film started a bit slow while it was trying to build up the character profiles and start the storyline. After the action started it was nonstop and it keeps your attention.
Chris Pratt playing Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard portraying Claire Dearing both did excellent jobs. How much did I like the film? I will definitely get the DVD and add it to my collection. It is a good film. It is not perfect though. The side plot of the military trying to weaponize the dinosaurs was just stupid. It could have been left out of the plot and the film would have been just as good. I also felt the character build up at the start of the movie was too long and could have been shorter. After all, the real stars of the film are the dinosaurs!
I still gave the film 5 stars as I enjoyed it and I would pay to see it again. I was entertained and the action and CGI of the dinosaurs made the film worthwhile to see.
