After my GoPro broke I decided to think outside the box and see what else is out there. After a lot of research I decided to purchase the ACTIVEON - DX HD Action Camera. I was really impressed with the compact size and ease to use. I like the multiple attachments it comes with and thinking of buying the WiFi remote. So far it has captured some great surfing and mountain biking footage at better quality and smooth picture than my GoPro did. I would highly recommend this product.

As a early adopter of Consumer Electronics, i was excited to try something new. it's always a gamble and i've encountered plenty of lemons. But when you strike gold, you gotta tell everyone.
Let me start with I'm awful at telling stories. This is why my ActiveOn is so important to me.
The amazing footage i'm able to capture through the lens of the camera allows me to tell my story through the eyes on my POV. Capturing the moment on film and editing the content on imovie allows me to be creative as i need to be to tell that story. It's pretty darn fun.
and what a value! What activeon is able to pack into the product at such a minimal price is outrageous. Even better, all my old GoPro (which broke) accessories seamless work with the Activeon. i got plenty of mounts that i couldn't afford to re-buy just because my gopros were failing me.
love this thing as a still camera too. i'm able to take some pretty glorious photo. it captures light brilliantly and the wide angle makes things so much more dramatic.
bottom line. buy this camera. For the Value. For the image quality. For the great UI. for the versatility. And again, for the price!

I own both the DX and LX cams. I did a lot of research before purchasing an action camera. By far the best cams for the money. Built in LCD screen on both cams, wifi and a ton of user friendly features. Save yourself the extra money on going with the other guys, and buy a far better action camera. I recommend this camera to anybody in the market for an action camera. You will not be disappointed with the purchase of an Activeon Action Camera.

Awesome Camera! Had enough of GoPro...

Minus one small aesthetic issue I absolutely love this camera! I am very happy with my purchase and can't wait to see what this company comes out with next.
I am so happy to finally see some real competition enter the GoPro camera space. As a 30 year old action sports enthusiast, I have absolutely loved the GoPro concept but experienced many short comings with the product.
Given the fact that my Hero2 was a few years old, I thought it was time to make an upgrade. One of the issues that plague the GoPro is battery life. The Hero2 would often going dead after less than an hour of use. The Activeon DX comes with a larger 1200 mAh battery compared to the Hero2 having an 1100 mAh and the Hero4 coming with an 1160 mAh. The Activeon DX claims to have a battery life that is able to record continuously for 120 minutes. Under normal use this seems to be an accurate claim.
What really sold my on this camera is the pro grade CMOS sensor bundled with an 8-elements aspherical glass F/2.4 Lens. Simply put, this combination makes for pro-quality imaging. I always thought that GoPro video's looked grainy and was looking for something that had a more polished, smooth, and professional look. In 1080p 60fps this thing is awesome. I have a 70 inch TV that is really able to show imperfections in image quality and I am very happy with the video quality that the DX is able to pump out.
That leads me to my one gripe that I have with the DX. The DX is slightly bigger than my Hero2 and quite a bit bigger than the Hero4. Looking at the lens on the DX and it is easy to spot that it is a bigger, higher quality lense than GoPro uses. The lens sticks out about a centimeter from the camera. I am ok with this trade-off as I believe I am getting more even if it is in a slightly larger package. However, I am looking forward to future versions of the DX shrinking down.
The wi-fi feature was able to pair with my Samsung Galaxy S6 flawlessly. The Activeon app performed without a hitch. I love that the LCD screen is also included and does the job for framing up the shot.
The red recording lights on both the front and back are also an improvement over my Hero2 as they are very bright and easy to spot that it is recording.
The auto-time lapse recording mode is also awesome as creating time lapse video's with my GoPro was a chore!
The user-interface is also fantastic on the DX. There is an extra button on the top of the camera that makes it incredibly easy to scroll up and down or back and forward with.
The mounts available are also great. They seem to be based off of the GoPro concept but are ever so slightly different in size. The fork on the bottom of the camera fits on any GoPro mount which is a life saver given the amount of GoPro accessories available. The Hero fork will also fit on the Activeon accessories in case you are wondering. However, the clips that click into the adhesives are slightly bigger on the DX than the GoPro so this is where you will not be able to interchange parts.
The audio quality also seems very clear on this camera.
I have yet to take this camera underwater but love the quality of the videos I have seen online where people use the "Aqua Mode" to get vivid colors underwater with this camera.
The digital zoom is a feature I just choose to ignore and for all the YouTube video's out there where people have these camera's zoomed in or set to narrow view, I sometimes wish these features were not even available.
To sum up my review, I am bought and am keeping my DX because of the superior battery life, image quality, wifi/app capabilities, mic quality, and because GoPro's simply put are over-rated. As long as you don't mind a slightly larger package I believe you will be very happy with this purchase as well.
