Having plenty of experience with stylish and pricey headphones, it can be quite difficult to provide useful feedback without biases. However, I will try my best to avoid being a headphone “snob” and offer my honest opinion. At first glance, these in-ear headphones seem a bit on the cheap side. The hard-plastic double cord, the thin cord to the set, the mic construction and the plastic material of the speaker housing would make you think if these are even worth the inexpensive price tag. So, I decided to ignore all these physical aspects and give them a go for a whole week in all my sound needs. As far as comfort is concerned, I selected the smaller “nozzle-fit” as the defaults were a bit difficult to properly put in my ear. While these may not seal my ear canal perfectly, they actually feel nice and secure. I shook my head and they did not fall off. So, it is fair to say that the “sport” tag is accurate. I wish the cord was made of more flexible material since it retains its folded shape for quite some time, but that’s nitpicking. As far as sound quality, these perform as expected considering the price. The sound signature is more on the thin and hollow side with little emphasis on powerful bass. That’s not to say that the music cannot be enjoyed -simply that expecting great bass and soundstage would be unfair. Because the “nozzle-fit” gummies shoot the sound directly into the ear, there is little need to have the sound volume at high levels. So, build and sound are not the greatest. Why would I recommend them then? Interestingly, I have found myself reaching for these headphones way more often than the more expensive ones. It’s more a matter of practicality: I simply grab them, throw them in my pocket and walk away. I do not have to worry about them breaking or placing them carefully in a softbox or bag. What seems to be cheap material has withstood the test of my rough handling. Liking these headphones also has to do with my listening habits. Since I mostly listen to spoken word (podcasts, audiobooks) or watch video content on social media, the sound quality, or lack thereof, does not bother me that much. And, just in case I do listen to music, it is for short periods of time anyway. In the end, I will still recommend having a pair of JVC Gumy Sports around as a backup; they sound well enough, are comfortable and stable (at least in my ears), and can take a beating.

JVC - HA ENR15 Gumy Sport Wired In-Ear Headphones - Red/Black These ear buds are exactly what they say they are. They have a soft gummy earpiece that fits in your ear. This allows a better bass response than most other ear buds in this price range. They also allow for a “custom” fit to your ear, 2 sizes of gummy adapters included. You can turn the gummy part to get it in place while leaving the ear bud turned at an angle that fits best for you. The only function I was able to get from the button was to pause/play or answer/end a call. The microphone worked well with my phone. The frequency response says 20Hz to 20,000Hz. I could hear the high ends very well so I would say the 20,000Hz range is probably correct. However, the 20Hz range is still weak. I couldn’t get anything below about 40Hz to be audible. Keep in mind these are ear buds, they physically do not have the range of motion in the earpiece speaker to get down to 20Hz. They still sounded better than most simply because you can get them to fit a little better with the rubber gummy part. They are a sport ear buds, so they do tend to stay put once inserted in your ear. But The cable is only 3.3 feet long. This is fine for portable players located on your arm or someplace close. Stretched from your pocket up to your ears could be an issue unless you route the cord under your shirt so it’s not in the way of your arms moving. At any rate the cord is long enough to keep it out of your way, yet in easy reach for the mic button. They are very light weight with small wires. They have an IPX2 rating on the ear buds themselves, but the mic button is not included in that. If your looking for good ear buds that are sweat proof these are what you’re looking for.

Affordable headphones that were a cool color with good sound.

They seem to work well on my mobile phone and on my laptop.

Purchased these to use when around other people so as not to disrupt others when watching TV or other get togethers.
