Worth buying a PS3 for.

As a beta tester let me tell you that this game will not disappoint. Everyone is talking about the graphics are rightfully so, but it is more than just pretty--the graphics, the sound, the animations of the weapons, the way your head bobs and motion blurs, the way that seemingly all light sources in the game act realistically (example, muzzle flashes light up the room and create real shadows on the walls)…it all creates this immersion—it feels like if there really was a war happening on an alien planet that it would realistically go down like this. Graphics are nothing without that, and this game has it.
Beyond all that, the game is just flat out fun. The biggest reason for this besides the stuff above is the WARZONE game mode. Basically warzone is all of the games modes combined into one mode. The game starts with two factions against each other and your given an objective similar to the game modes in other games (team death match, plant a bomb, capture the base, deliver the mcgoven, etc), once that mode is concluded a winner is decided, 1-0 goes the score, and a new game mode is announced. On and on it goes until one faction wins the overall match. Only then (about 30-40 mins or so later unusually) are you kicked back to the pregame screen to set it all up again. Believe me, WARZONE will eat up very large chucks of time before you even realize it as you say, ‘just one more’ over and over. Oh, and I didn’t even mention the classes and badge system, but this has gone on long enough, you get the idea…MP is Killzone is flat out awesome.
I can only think of a few negatives and most I’m assuming are products of it being a beta and will not carry over. One of these is that the beta seemed to have a delayed death animation so that you would waist some time and bullets shooting at someone that was already dead, but hadn’t started their ouch-that-hurt-now-I’m-falling-down animation. From what I hear this was also present in the COD4 beta and didn’t exist in the final game so I’m not worried about it.
One last thing on a positive note, Killzone has an unbelievably detailed back story. If you are unfamiliar with it, or only know the story from Killzone 1 or the Killzone 2 previews go to Killzone.com and read up. Its long, but it really shows just how much time and thought Guerilla put into this universe and how they really strived to create a sci-fi universe that takes place in the future but is still very much grounded in reality—a believable extension from the reality we know.
Anyway, there is my plug. I’m sure you can tell that I really like pretty much all things Killzone, but please don’t think I’m a fanboy. I went into this beta ready to be objective, and with a little skepticism, but really…it’s that good.

New favorite multiplayer!!!!......sorry COD 4.

This games' multiplayer is on the same level as COD 4.....nothing more needs to be said......buy it!!
That being said, this game is not COD 4. You dont snap your red dot sight up to your face in a spit second and headshot someone on the other side of the map. Killzone's gameplay has a more 'weighted' feel. It's not a bad thing at all.....it just takes some getting used to.
The Badges are all good and they all have vital uses within the Warzone gameplay. the Assault badge is great for assassination.....use the boost and blast yourself behind enemy line to where the target is hiding and when you get their blow him and his defenders up with the grenade laucher. The Assault is also great for Search and Retrieve.....grab the speaker and just boost you way to the drop zone. The Tactician can change the tide of a whole game with one well placed spawn grenade. The Scout can just devastate another team if you have good aim and are sneaky. Also, the Saboteur is great sneaking fun too, but he is also good for passing through enemy line during assassination. The Engineer's sentry turrets are great for defending and the Medic's revial gun is good for assassination and bodycount. Overall the badges are great and it doesnt take to long to unlock them all.
Combining the secondary abilities of the different badges is also fun and can be very helpful to your team. Like combining the Assualt's boost with the Tactician....this lets you put a spawn grenade down anywhere on the map very quickly. Or using the Tactician's air drone ability with Engineer.....letting you place both a sentry turret and an air drone down and letting them get a few kills for you. Also combining the Saboteur's secondary ability, the C4 charges, with the Engineer badge and his turrets is great for defense on search and retrieve......just put your sentry turret in a good place and then place C4 on the drop zone box and if the other team makes it to the drop box they will be in for a big surprise....There is lots of little stuff like this for you to do in this game. You will eventually stop seeing how many hours you've put into the multiplayer and instead start to measure it in number of days played.
Get this game.....you wont regret it!!

This is my first game for my Sony PS3 and I cant imagine a better first game to purchase. The multiplayer is a blast(except for the occasional PSNetwork errors). The campaign is also extremely fun and challenging. The controls are a bit tricky when you first play but you will get used to it once you get about 5-10 matches under your belt. The ranking system is great and is very similar to the Call of Duty ranking system. Message to all PS3 owners that enjoy a great game....This is a great game and a must buy!

From looking at the demos and all the stuff that has be broadcasted about this game it looks amazing. It looks like a Cod 4 but cleaned up and bigger maps. The story line of the 1st was good but this looks amazing. The graphics for what i've seen so fare have look out of this world. I cant wait.

Killzone 2 has to be the most beautiful game I've seen or play. The story and the flow of the game is great, always hand on action. The only problem about this game is the controls. Even if you change the sensitivity of the controllers, the controls are very awkward to deal with and get used to them. I bought my PS3 because of this game and Blu-Ray and so far neither one has disappointed, great game, you won't regret it.

Definitely one of the better FPS games for PS3, but not the best. Of course, I bought it a month before the price drop, and was a little disappointed it wasn't better than Modern Warfare 2. But for $30, this game is a great deal.
The campaign is fun, and a decent length. The AI is kind of stupid, but they can take a lot of bullets, making it a little more difficult. I didn't really get some of the story though. Maybe you need to have played the first to understand it better. It seemed kind of like a "go here, kill them, go there, blow that up" game.
Online is fun, but can't compete with MW2.
Overall this is a great game. In my opinion it is right below Call of Duty and Resistance for best PS3 FPS franchise. Hopefully KillZone 3 is awesome.

Very good FPS

Killzone II IMHO is a very good FPS but still not so good as to defeat COD. Graphics are outstanding, the best you can find in a PS3, but that seems to slow down thinks a little bit. So at the time you cross thru a break point, the game will freeze a few tenths of seconds (can be several dozen of tenths, sometimes) to load data and save information. I think this is understandable taking into consideration that this is a game that takes so much from our equipment, but it is still bothering when you are so concentrated in the game. Also the story has some flags in the continuity, like you are the first entering the scene and then a few meters ahead there is a full square waiting for you, or just your computerized partner is badly injured and then he is waiting for you ahead. Aiming also requires some adjustment of the options, because by default is quite slow and it makes difficult to aim somebody, so controls have to be fixed in the fastest possible way. The last thing to comment is that enemies do some stupid thinks sometimes instead of starting shooting you, even some funny ones, making evidence of some bugs going around the game. Besides these flags, this is a very good quality FPS and that makes it very enjoyable, action is quite intense and battles can make you die quite often (at least for somebody with my level of expertise). I don’t care too much about the use of foul language, I think it fits the nature of the game. Graphics and sound are the best, and the game is quite variable in nature (the most enjoyable thing for me was the use of big machine guns). So as a conclusion, the game is not COD4 but it is quite similar in essence, seeming to need a bit of polishing with some items. Even so, this is a must for a PS3 lovers of a good FPS.

A Beautiful shooter

This is a great shooter and at this moment the best looking console game I've seen.
The single player has four difficulty settings so you should be able to find one you like. They mix up the gameplay in the single player with various objectives/ bosses and even vehicle parts all of which work fine. It's a decent length and fun to play through. The bosses all have cool unique ways to defeat them its just to bad that someone shouts out how early on in the battle so the player doesn't have to figure it out. The game is very well polished as I only encountered one minor glitch so far and the performance doesn't seem to slow down much.
The multiplayer is excellent. It's kind of a mix between call of duty 4 and team fortress 2. You can choose different classes and they all have unique abilities. However expect to get owned when you first start out as you will have to unlock almost everything and it's kind of confusing at first. The game doesn't appear to have an autoaim unlike most console shooters so aiming can take some getting used to. They do let you play the multiplayer against bots which I recommend doing first and I still use it whenever I unlock something new.
Overall I'd recommend any FPS fan to get this game.

Killzone2 boast great graphics and gameplay

Killzone 2 is not only another shooter with few whistles and bells but it is among the best of the shooters in terms of gameplay and graphics. While i was playing it i felt like i was actually in a war. Unlike the COD series and some other shooters,
Killzone 2 is actually like Battlefield 2 except that it's better. Gun feels real because of the attention to details especially in reloading and the handling. The controls are great. Shooting enemies felt real unlike the paper-like enemies in COD4&5. The ragdolls are probably the best here too.
If you play hard mode it's so fun. The enemies will not stand and fire at you. They cover up and roll around. It's kind of hard to land a clean shot at them this way. While the scripts for the enemies are excellent and almost human-like, they are not as competitive as when you play online.
Online gameplay is very very good. Personallly, i'd say that it's almost like the CS (counterstrike) series. You won't be running around much... instead, you're getting slaughtered left and right every few minutes that's because you're in the KILLZONE.

Exemplary Construction, Incredible gameplay

It is immensly obvious that this was designed specifically for the PS3. The Graphics are incredible, far above any other current FPS. The game definately pushes the PS3s hardware. The AI certainly makes the game interesting. Your AI partners dont' just stand around in the open ignoring enemy bullets (although they do occasionally seek cover in odd locations) and the enemy AI varies from cautiously shooting from behind cover to brazenly charging you. The environments look very impressive and there is definitely an emphasis on using structures around you for cover. The story arc is easy to follow and is enjoyable enough to keep you interested. The only slightly negative comment would probably be the aforementioned difficulty curve. It seems to jump up and down with one area of a level being very easy and then just a little bit later seemingly impossible and requiring number attempts to get past. Multiplayer is just as fun if not more so than the single player, with multiple modes of gameplay that the game will transition between seamlessly.

I just bought this game last night. I usualy play Call of duty 4 (modern warfare) and Call of Duty 5 (world at war). At one time i thought no games could pass the greatness of the call of duty franchise. i was wrong. Kill Zone 2 far exceeds my expectations. The last game i was hoping to be great was (resistance 2) i did not care fot the online play at all. Kill Zone 2 gets 10 Stars from me. The graphix are excellent. The online plays like call of duty but much better. Turn off the old COD WAW and pop in KILL Zone 2. I was skepticle at first as well, but when i played this i was amazed at how great it really is. Only downfall being the aim in button. This will not be a downfall for most but because i play Call Of Duty so much, I was used to the aim in being on my L1 button but that is not the case with this game. I am getting used to this though. (i attempted to change the aim in button to the L1 button but cannot) as i said i am getting used to it though.

This is by far the most memorable FPS I've played. It has quality all over, you can tell the 4 year development was well spent. I've played: Halo 3, Gears of War, COD4. Killzone 2 ranks up there with the best of them. There are some annoyances with the game though.
They should have required a mandatory install, because everytime you go to the next loading stage, the game pauses for a few seconds. It gets annoying when you play through beating the game. Is it just me or does the menu make you DIZZY and want to puke. The design is unique, but when you scroll through the menu it flickers, and expands in and out. Its so bad!! Guerilla please fix your menu!
The controls are not tight. It has a weighty feeling so it took me beating the game, and playing some online games before adjusting. Basically, if you try to shoot like Rambo you're accuracy is out the window.
With the exception of a few issues, this game is a "Must Own" for all gamers.

just finished this game and all i can say is wow. i thought the story was great and its deff for the mature audience. and because of the realistic graphics and intellegent enemies and realisic nature of the game i say this is for mature audience. this game gets you the closest to what real life war would be like in my opinion. the way the enemies try to out smart and flank you is crazy. and your enemies arent just over you, theyre all over your fellow soldiers too. some parts were alil slower compared to some of the all out massive non stop brawls. i will say this as a little warning. the controls are alil different then other FPS. i had to adjust the settings and also get used to them, but i was used to them within a half hour. if you own a ps3(lucky you) go pick up this game! havent tried online yet though i hear awesoem things and i cant wait now im finished with the campagn mode. this game is as fun as it gets.

A lot was said about this game long before its release, some good some bad. Now its finally time to put those words to the test. Non stop action, and great gunplay is the basis of this game and its all done very very well. The story is a little on the short side but dont let that scare you, the quality is amazing. Some of the best graphics to date and intense battles will constantly keep you on the edge of your seat. There are plenty of trophies that will make it worth your wihle to replay the story and stats can be improved as well. Multiplayer is outstanding. Complete with a great ranking system and several classes, this one rivals Call of Duty. If you dont have online you can also play against bots which is still fun. If a compeling story and crazy online battles is what you crave then Killzone 2 is an absolute must.

One of the Best FPS On PS3

This is definately one of the must have titles for PS3 if you are a fan of FPS. The graphics in this game really show off the power of the PS3 and the controls are crisp and responive. The sound effects come through very well on a 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound system and the story line is tied together very well with cut scenes between the action.
Parents, this game is definately not for younger players if you are concerned with language, it is rated 17+ for a reason so if you are looking to get this for younger kids be warned that there are lots of four letter words used in this game. In terms of violence it isn't any more violent then Resistence or the COD series of games but there is a fair amount of blood.

I played the demo and was hooked. I didn’t pick up my copy the day it was released but the same week. Its been sitting in my PS3 ever since ok maybe I take it out to watch a movie. I could go on and on about things that you could carless about but this is what I will say, “Its one of the few games worth spending $60 on”.
If you liked the first Killzone and did multiplayer they have brought back two multiplayer maps from the first Killzone for Killzone 2 gamers as a map pack. The clan support that is offered is fantastic in game and online, Helghast Brotherhood. You really can’t go wrong with this game. If your still not sure download the demo and you’ll like it if you’re a FPS gamer.

Don't let the hype cloud your expectations.

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I do my best to stay away from all the talk and hype surrounding a game. A good thing, too. While at the end of the day this is a fun game to play, it all boils down to imitation of many other (and better) First Person shooters out there while dropping some mind boggling problems to the genre as well.
The controls are absolutely horrid. In a short, you'll need to move your right joystick 1/2 way across to either side of the center before the aiming cursor even begins to move! The result is a feeling of 'dragging' and 'delay' to aim. Many have argued that this was done to simulate all the weight your character is holding and I can tell you, this is not the case. Simply put, whether you're holding a pistol or a rocket launcher, the weapon of choice in your hand does not change the feeling of 'dragging' that I just described above. I would imagine my arm could move around more freely and easily with a pistol in my hand rather a grenade launcher. As for the weight of the armor and weapons you carry, well that would affect your running in real life combat, but has nothing to do from getting your arm to point where you want it as soon as signals are sent from your brain to your hand.
Next is A.I and "difficulty". This is a dismal failure. I am almost done completing this game on veteran (beat the game the first time on normal). In essence, what A.I does exist is nothing but a facade to simulate intensity but in reality, you can judge how poor the A.I is by looking no further than your allies who have no problem running in front of you while your gun is spraying bullets nor standing dead center in front of you in the middle of a hall making it near impossible to get around you.
Also, when in the center of a battle where your forces are fighting an enemy, all things being equal, the A.I does nothing to advance either side amidst a battle. Your allies offer no value to your combat whatsoever! When the two opposing forces go at it, there's not a chance that your allies will ever give you an advantage to battle. For example, if you poke your head around a corner and start shooting enemies, every enemy on the battlefield then targets you! You would think this would be an ample opportunity for your allies to gun down a few soldiers, won't happen. Sure there's no pattern to the war going on, but random "A.I" does not make for good A.I. In conclusion, the A.I is about as useless as the COD games are (which this game steals a lot from)
This ties into difficulty. There's a difference between a game that tests your Skills vs. a game that tests your luck and this game falls into the latter. The difficulty is so frustrating, that it could likely leave you wanting to break a controller. As mentioned before, enemy A.I has a tendency to focus their attacks on you rather than allies (you know, because common sense tells us a main character who sports a Mohawk is the best warrior on the battle field). Some times, in order to advance, you have to 'force' yourself ahead in the battle to win. This is important: it does not come down to you or the allies awesome "A.I." to gun down your enemies, but it comes down to you not getting shot and seeking cover a few steps ahead of you! This is awful. Otherwise, if you sit there and simply shoot your enemies, they respawn. Being better in combat does not help you progress!
Ok, enough complaining. The graphics (which everyone, unnecessarily, has been talking about for years) are beautiful. Sure. However, I wish they had spent more time on the game play. The artistic direction is masterful. the game, with it's faults that I mention above, is fun to play. The controls do become tolerable, but that doesn't mean you will like them. In a day where co-op play is expected out of the box, it is unforgivable to see I can not play campaign mode with my friends.
My best recommendation is for you to rent this, play the online MP, fiddle with the controls, and find out for yourself if the challenges this game bares is worth your hard earned $60. If a friend of mine asked me, I would say no on the basis that what's done here isn't anything we haven't seen before and the fact that it's been done better
