    War....perfected.

"They will know......Helghan belongs to the Helghast." Play the game on Elite and you'll see what Visari meant by that. At the very beginning, Killzone 2 shows you an introduction explaining both sides of the war. The Helghast defending their home land, and the ISA invading them to finish what was started on Vekta (the first Killzone). It shows your main character preparing to leave Vekta before he fights the battle on Helghan.....on the back cover, it says "In and out in a month, they said. Morale at an all-time low.....they couldn't be more wrong".... Even though games sometimes can't capture ones attention just by what's on the back, it's almost like they WANT you to see how wrong they really were. At the very beginning, your craft makes a crash landing on a beach, already fighting for your life, AND THE GAME JUST STARTED! Depending on your difficulty setting (if it's your first time, I HIGHLY recommend either Recruit (easy) or Trooper (a bit above easy) ). Later on in the game, you're traveling all over Helghast, in what seems to be an endless chase for Radec (Visari's commander) and Visari himself (Emperor of Helghan). Even though I have shared some of the game's story line, don't think I'm going to spoil it for you. When you first try to look with the right analog stick (default settings), you WILL notice a delay. It's not a bad disc and it's not your controller. They built that into the game to give the feeling of the gun being heavy. It actually works pretty well, and if you're like me, you'll get used to it quickly in the campaign. However, I still do wish they didn't put a delay on EVERYTHING. I'd hit Square twice just to reload, and sometimes, hitting X once won't allow the character to jump, but that's only online, and the room most likely was laggy. Where the game REALLY shines is its online feature. From Bodycount (team deathmatch), Assassination (killing a certain player on the other team before time runs out), Search & Retrieve (finding a speaker and returning it to a destination...kind of like Capture the Flag), Capture and Hold (taking territory and holding it from your enemy for a certain amount of time), and Search & Destroy (planting bombs at a specific target and waiting for them to blow up), there's ALOT to do in this game. Ribbons such as Head Fetish (getting 10 headshots in a game) keeps the game rolling. Getting eight ribbons of the same kind, such as eight Head Fetish ribbons, gives you a medal, in which you unlock special items/abilities for achieving them. Being a medic and reviving people 5 times in a match, 8 different times, gives you the ability to throw down health packs that can heal you, your teammate, or even an enemy if they're lucky enough to find one. If you heal someone 5 times in a match, 8 different times, you can use that ability with any other badge. For example, say you're a Sabetour (badge in which you're disguised as an enemy to fool your enemies), and instead of C4 mines, you want to have the ability to heal yourself. If you get the C4 medal AND the one for the health packs, you can mix and match them. It seems complicated, but it's MUCH easier in the game. Ranking up in the game online allows you to gain different badges. You can be a medic, an engineer (build turrents), Tactician (throw spawn grenades so teammates can spawn in other places), or a Scout once you reach the highest rank (Scout being the sniper). Even once you're finished with that, there's always something else to do. If you're good enough, the game even rewards you with the Special Honor ribbon, for being either the top 10, 6, 3, or 1% of players for that week (the highest I've ever gotten was 3%). There's just so much good with this game, I could write a research paper about them. But now about the "bad". Depending on who's hosting, the games can be VERY laggy. Two shots to kill someone....with a headshot...really??? Me shooting people five times, only to die with two bullets.....yeeeaaaa. Little things like those can make it unfun at a point, but take some time and get the aiming down, it won't matter. You'll be racking up dead bodies in no time. Overall, great game, great experience, boss fights keep the "old school" feel with a "new school" twist....Just buy the game. This is one FPS that you can't miss.

    Raising the bar

Having played the demo I can honestly say that this is truly an elite game and one the crown jeweles of SCE and the PS3. Most of the sites and magazines from the biz have already agreed that Killzone 2 definitely lives up to the hype it created for itself, and that's saying a lot when you are talking about this game, for those who saw the trailer from E3 in 2005 know what I'm talking about. If Sony plays it's cards right this will surely be the system seller it has been desperatly needing. Alreday it has the nomination for game of the year, KZ2 is the game to own if you have a PS3 and if you don't, it's the reason to get one. I know this makes me sound like a fanboy, but so be it, this game deserves it's props!!

Awesome Game A Must Have !!

This is a great game that any ps3 owner should have. The only bad thing I have to say is that the little load time in the middle of the levels gets annoying after a while. But everything else is great. The online gameplay is really good and it gives you a sense of achievement when leveling up the ranks and getting new abilities and weapons. Another thing is that if you have small children or siblings, the language is kinda strong, the F bomb is dropped just about every other sentence. overall this game is a must have

    A(n) FPS Sci-Fi Thriller...Somewhat

Killzone 2, in my opinion, deserves no less than four stars, but does not deserve a perfect five-star rating. The graphics are incredible and the gameplay, especially the multiplayer, is amazing. The multiplayer version of this game has no comparison. There's always something "added" as you progress through the ranks. The weapons are great and have a good "feel" to them. Also, the AI is a lot smarter than other FPS AI's. With their "armor," it takes more than two bullets to take them down unlike the CoD series (unless it's a headshot, of course). However, the pace is a little slower than the CoD series, as well. The controls seem a little clunky with the zoom option being enabled by pressing R3, especially when you have to use the right analog stick to aim at the same time. To have the controls similar to the CoD series, use the "Alternate 2" configuration with the "zoom hold" option shaded in. The single-player story is generic. If you've played/are decent at FPS, then I recommend playing this game at the highest difficulty available (third) when you first play the game. I beat the game in six hours on the second difficulty (with the fourth being the most difficult but only unlocked after beating the game) with several continues. The game can easily be beaten in a little over five hours on the second difficulty without any continues. Do I recommend this game? Yes, but more so for the multiplayer because the single-player campaign gets old pretty quick...and pretty fast.

This is a must own for all PS3 owners. If you want a game that takes all aspects of the PS3 (motion controls, HD graphics, massive online network, intense offline gameplay, etc...) this is your game. I wake up a little earlier and go to sleep later than normal just to get in an extra hour or two of this game when I can. When you pick up your copy, you'll better understand all of the hype for this game that I and so many other reviewers are posting. If you have a PS3, this should be in your collection. Period. See you online!

    Good Game, Not Great

I bought this game because I was playing way to much CoD W@W and getting sick of it. This game doesn't beat the standard that CoD has set for FPS games. The story mode so far is good, but the controls are horrendous!!! I hat FPS games that make it hard to zoom in to shoot your enemy. I liken it to the first Resistance, they got it right in R2. CoD has got it right by using the L1 button to zoom in and use your sights. The online game is no way near CoD. Overall, I'd rent this game before you buy. When I play FPS games I like it when i'm able to shoot my enemies, not have to steady the crosshairs while i'm getting capped in the a $$!!!

Best futuristic video game to date!

Best futuristic game of all time, totally beats Gears of War and Halo! Its great, the guns are cool, the physics are realistic, the graphics are the best ever, the storyline is fun and interactive! The online could be a bit more fun (for some unexplainable reason, not as fun or addicting as Call of Duty: 4). Great game, worth the buy. I suggest renting it first, though. Some people can't get enough of it, others get bored of it pretty quick. Its your call.

The Best RPG for the PS3

Killizone 2 released to the PS3 has got to be one of the best RPG's out there. Now not everything worked out correctly, but I know you will not be disappointed with this game. It pushed the technology engine of the PS3 and showed what it really could do.

    Solid game

Killzone 2 is a very good 1st person shooter. Graphics are solid, frame rate is relatively smooth and no real issues with camera. The story is a bit lame, and although I don't mind swearing in a game this one used so much profanity it had me rolling my eyes. The loading can be a bit wonky and it seems like the game is frozen for a minute from time to time during this process. Altogether it is a highly recommended game.

There are so many great things about this game. Clearly this game gets recognition for is amazing graphics that take you to a desperate world of constant war. You are constantly moving from one location to the next shooting enemies, but it never gets old. I like most did not play any of the prior Killzone games and am starting mid-franchise. I went to you-tube to get an idea of what the story is about, but it seems like this game has very little to do with the first game. The character is different entirely, though you do see the original character in the opening video. This is all to say you could easily pick up a copy of this game and not worry about getting lost in the story. My main problem with the games is when it uses the sixaxis movement controls. The game has you drive a tank at one point and you steer moving the controller itself. It sounds easy, but it was a pain. I died a few times because I could not get the tank to turn. This should not stop you from buying the game. This game is excellent and if you own a PS3, you owe it to yourself to get this title in your library!

this is a must have shooter for the ps3 for it most likely is the best shooter, and is one of the best out there, online play is smooth and great, but a lot of story mode unessacary foul language will reuine it for some and make it more realistic for others
