    Not that Fast

I have tried this V series and the V+...I bought the V series with desktop installation...do not bother. The brackets did not fit my Dell XPS Desktop from Best Buy. The cloning software did not recognize any of my drives at all and was therefore useless. I had to use Windows imaging in Win 7 (the hassle of which is another story). Once installed speeds on any number of benchmarks were similar...on both a new install of Win 7 and a heavily loaded install. HD Tune reports a max of about 148 MBS...other benchmarks such as Sandra report 181 MBs. Writes are abysmal (they are superior with the V+ model)...as low as 30 MBs...completely canceling read speeds, IMO. Not ready for prime time. Google some benchmarks, you will see wildly different results. I tried several of these and none got past 180 MBs for reads.

Bought this to speed up my boot times. I installed only the OS along with all the start up programs and they load with blazing speed. Was using a 7200RPM 500gb HD before and my system was slowed by the start-up programs on boot up. Took usually between 90-120 seconds to load. Now I am using the old drive for other programs and the new one has cut the load time down to 20 seconds. Excellent for impatient people like myself!

Kingston SSDNow V-Series 128GB Internal Serial ATA II Hard Drive is too new to me to rate on long term use. So far all is going well and the fast service to order from Best Buy was great.

My Machine is 2007 Mac Pro.... Well ,,the supplied mounting brackets put the Hard Drive WAAAAY off of alignment. ( Mac Pro's do not use Serial cables or any cables to connect their Hard Drives.) Anyway ,, So why did they make the mounting adapters put every connector out of alignment ? Dum de dum de dum ......So Now its DUCT TAPE AND TWIST TIES for this brand spankin new Kingston SSDNow V-Series 128GB Internal Serial ATA II Hard Drive for DESKTOPS..( Last I checked ,, The Mac Pro IS a Desktop. Also Kingston chose not to include "Native Command Queing" support on these drives.
