Effective at compacting. Easy to operate and unload. Not too noisy. Must take care to make it level when installing.

This trash compactor was purchased to replace an old KitchenAid trash compactor that we had. Our old compactor was loud and you had to twist a knob to compact. We wanted to purchase another KitchAid because at the same time, we bought three other KitchenAid appliances, so we wanted them to all match in color and style. We are so glad we purchased this compactor. It is much quieter than our old compactor and there is a convenient foot button to start the compacting. It also seems to hold more trash than our old model. There was a special step screw missing from the foot pedal to open the compactor drawer, but the old compactor had the same screw, so my husband simply removed the old one and installed on the new one. It worked perfectly and we have had no issues.

I had a trash compactor for years and when it broke I was devastated! It was hard to find one similar to what I had. This one works well and love that you can put the extra pack on to really compact everything! It's even quieter than my old one. Just a bit pricey compared to when I bought my first one.

Does a great job compacting and looks great. This replaced my old KitchenAid compactor which lasted 13 years. However, I prefer the controls to be on the outside like they were in my original model but there is no such option this year which makes it slightly harder to use (esp since you cannot see without opening it whether it is in solid mode).

Compactor fits ideally under the already built cabinets. Machine is well balanced and does a terrific job of allowing a large amount of garbage to be in a much smaller bag.

We bought this in May but just had it installed about a month ago due to availability and our schedule. We used a Best Buy installer who came as promised and did a good job. The compactor works well, although not quite as powerful as the much older one we replaced. Relatively quiet and seems to be well made.

We replaced a 20 year old kitchen aid compactor when it finally wore our. The new compactor works as it should. It was easy to install and updates the look of our kitchen. I hope it lasts as long as the last one did. So far, we are happy with our purchase.

When replacing our kitchen appliances we started with the Built-In Trash Compactor. Ironically, we were replacing an older KitchenAid model. What we didn't know is there are only a handful of brands left that still manufacture trash compactors. We decided to go with the KitchenAid model as a brand-for-brand transfer seemed a wise move. While this new model looks great and performs well... it is not as efficient as the older model. We have had a few technical glitches with the compacting method (not always retracting until you run the recycle a second time). However, over all it is a good product. We had hoped for GREAT product based upon the price... but it goes nicely with the rest of our KitchenAid appliances.

Pretty much the current model for one we are replacing that is 25 years old! A few differences but pretty much the same. Decent compactor. It actually is louder than our old one but we will live with it. It is not a show stopper. I do think it is over priced.

Compactor works great, I like the air freshener feature. Mine arrived in good physical condition, however the door was hard to close and open, there is a lot of resistance near the closing point. After a while I discovered that the tracks get closer together near the back causing the difficulty to slide. The track spacing is 11" near the front and 10.5" at the back. I tried calling for service, but KitchenAid doesn't have their own service team, they contract with a local company. The local company did not show up for the scheduled service and did not return my phone calls. I sure hope this lasts a very long time...

Looks beautiful and works well. We bought this compactor to replace our old one that died. This looks beautiful and does a great job. All the controls are in side which adds to its outward sleek appearance.

My family of 5 emptied out a kitchen trash can daily. But having this, we now have one a week. We have a trash can for food scraps, and this for everything else...now our family's trash can fit in one, smaller 40gal trash can every week. We could probably do even better, too, if we really wanted to, since it has the extra pack feature.

Immediately after installing it I noticed that pressing the foot pedal hardly opens the front door. The store sent a replacement unit, but it had the same problem. Installers mentioned that other customers had similar issuers. I expected better from the $1700 appliance.

Foot pedal on trash compactor broke off less than 24 hours after install. Reached out to kitchenaid thinking at least send us the party. They responded a month later with a link to find parts. Paid over $100 for install only for installer to crack the facing of my cabinet with a screw. We hadn’t purchased from Best Buy for some time after a poor fridge warranty repair. Know I remember why we had avoided them.
