Would not recommend. Ordered and doesn't make ice. What a waste and hassle to even get any help.

Love it! What a little luxury to have in our kitchen. The ice maker in our fridge just couldn't keep up with the nights we wanted to have cocktails, so we purchased this. This one makes beautiful little square nuggets, and with the water filter they are very clear.

So the way this unit works requires some explanation. In the top of the unit, there is a cold plate that it passes water over. Eventually that water freezes, with the most pure water freezing earlier than impure water, so you end up with a mostly clear sheet of frozen ice. When that sheet reaches an appropriate weight, it slides off this cold plate onto a grid of heated wires. As it melts through the wire mesh, small square ice cubes fall into the bin. This is much quieter than semi-commercial units that typically spray water into vertical molds where a heat cycle then causes the large cubes to drop out into the bin. The downside to this unit is the whole water ramp, wire mesh, etc. are tucked away in an inaccessible part of the unit that is impossible to reach. You have to disassemble the entire unit to get at this area to clean it. And yes, you should clean it, because even with filtered or RO water, you'll eventually get both scale and mold. I discovered this on mine way down the line and it was a nightmare to clean. It's also impossible to keep clean unless you remove it and take the whole thing apart a few times per year.

We love it! It is always full of ice and ready when we need it. It does make some noise we had to get use to but totally with it!

Have owned this ice maker for three years and have had significant, costly repairs annually. Water inlet valve and recirculation pump failed and the quote to repair is over $700. Repairman said these ice makers are the worst and recommended a service plan. My recommendation is to not buy it. Also have a Kitchenaid fridge with french doors, lower freezer that the ice maker always stops working because the design allows for the ice maker to turn into one big block of ice. Maybe just avoid Kitchenaid products.
