This is a great ice maker but not a great ice storer. The ice is clear, great tasting and chewable. There are two things I wish I’d known: First, it does not refrigerate the ice like your freezer does. So the ice is always melting. This results in a great deal of water draining. Second, the drain pump is not included. You would think an expensive unit like this would both keep the ice cold and pump any drain water back into the system. As it stands, even with the pump installed, water is wasted. A lot of water. So I am only going to use this when I need to use large amounts of ice quickly - like a party. Otherwise it’s far too wasteful. I only gravity drain mine. At least it empties into the garden.
