Only gripe is Best Buy used outside agency to install it and they put it in loose. it cost me over $200 to install and the installers made the opening to big and the stove moves. The cooktop is very nice and great quality.

Replaced an older GE Profile unit as part of a remodel. The Ultra Heat function is incredible. Gets really hot fast! Water boils nearly as quickly as an induction cooktop. Takes a little to adjust cooking style to match the heat.

CHEAPLY MADE PIECE OF GARBAGE

Based on my very recent experience I would advise that you continue shopping and NOT purchase this cheaply constructed and highly priced unit unless you plan to NOT cook on it. It is a nightmare to clean and has the durability of a china tea cup. I purchased this unit and had it installed on May 31, 2016. Less than 2 months later, I ACCIDENTALLY dropped a light-weight aluminum lid from only a few inches above the unit. The lid hit the edge of the cooktop and shattered a good-sized piece of the glass. I had purchased an extended warranty from the store along with the cooktop so I contacted them about what had happened. After waiting a week for their review they decided it was my problem as accidents were not covered and they refused to help me in any way. I then contacted customer service at KitchenAid thinking that such a “reputable” company would surely be concerned about the quality of their products and their reputation with their customers but I got the same response from them – basically, “too bad, your problem”.
Aside from the total lack of customer support from both the store and the KitchenAid Co., my biggest issue is with the delicate construction of the cooktop. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only person to have dropped something accidentally on a stove. The unit should not have shattered so easily. In addition to the flimsy glass, there is definitely a design flaw in that the top and bottom edges are covered with a stainless steel strip but the sides are not which causes both the uncovered left and right sides to be elevated above the countertop with no support under them. I am sure this contributed to the break. I wish I had noticed this flaw before I bought it. This cooktop cost me over $1,701.00. Biggest waste of money ever. In anticipation of selling my home within the next few years, I am in the process of renovating my kitchen. I wanted to install quality products and mistakenly believed that KitchenAid was the way to go – big mistake. I purchased scrapers specifically made for glass cooktops and a good glass cooktop cleaner. I don’t cook very often but whenever I do I clean the cooktop every time. Neither the scrapers nor the cleaner would remove the surface debris sufficiently as I was trying to keep it looking like new. The only thing that removed the burnt on spills was a new razor blade but that left tiny scratches on the surface which would not buff out with additional cleaner. So if you prefer to ignore my experience with this cooktop and its manufacturer and purchase it anyway - and then plan to actually use it every day, be prepared to spend a ½ hour cleaning it - but don’t expect it to be perfect. Above all treat it like the delicate tea cup that it is and do not have any accidents (as if that was possible) because you will be on your own with no support. I am now in the process of searching for a remedy to cover this crack in the way of stainless steel strips but will no doubt need to buy yet another cooktop to replace this piece of junk before I decide to move. I also need to buy a range hood, dishwasher, microwave/convection combo, a refrigerator and a wall oven sometime in the near future. To be sure, I will NEVER again purchase another KitchenAid product – or JennAir either as they are part of the same company.
