This oven was not designed for cooking enthusiasts. We purchased the entire set of Kitchenaid appliances in this style, and are gravely disappointed in this item - it's our only gripe, but a major one. This is an oven that requires a learning curve before you are able to produce adequate results. It's not an enjoyable experience learning, either.
1) You won't have precise control over heat, either in the range or in the ovens. The temperatures will fluctuate significantly in the oven, and with the induction stovetop, the 10 power levels don't provide the precision that a home cook would really appreciate.
2) If you try to move the pots around on the stovetop, or place any items on the stovetop, it beeps at you repeatedly. So much beeping. You can't take the pan off the burner to drain water, plate up food, or slow down the heat without loud beeps coming your way. If you don't put the pan back on within a few seconds, it shuts of the range and you'll have to reset your power settings once again.
3) You can't control multiple burner temps at a time. If you're cooking multiple items, it's a multi-step process to change individual heat settings on each burner. Painstaking.
4) The self clean function has about 7 power settings. Better bring out the manual, the days of one step self clean are gone. Of the settings we've tried, none seem to make the oven clean.
5) The oven takes forever to preheat, and after you're done cooking and turn the oven off, there is a loud cooling fan that will run for 2-3 hours.
6) At first we were excited about induction cooking. Not only is the induction temperature control very poor, but the induction feature is very noisy as well. It clicks and makes a noise like electricity is shooting through the air. It sounds like something you don't want to be around.
7) If something splashes the touch controls, range shuts off. You'll have to clean the oven, turn back on, reset power settings on each burner.
It pains me to type this out, but I really think everyone should know what they are getting into with this item. If we'd been able to try before we bought, we'd have saved ourselves the $3,000 mistake.

It heats things up, like a good oven/range does. Induction technology is great. But I don't know who designs these things, and I don't think it's people who actually use ovens/ranges. The touch UI on this thing is pretty awful to use and a stovetop is a great place to store things temporarily - but not this unit. It'll yell at you constantly and annoyingly if you place anything on top of its controls for even a moment. I had no issues with the controls being up on the face with the rest, but they decided they'd rather make a really stupid product decision and locate them down on the stovetop itself. Great, thanks. Everything else about it is just fine.

Love my KitchenAid range. I bake, so wanted 2 ovens. Lower oven is convection. Upper oven has a shallow pan for adding water when baking bread. The cooktop is induction. I will never have anything else again. It has the quick on/off of gas, with the easy clean up of a glass cooktop.

I am not one to write a review but after a full year of trying to get this range fixed, I am now told that it is working correctly. The oven will not maintain a consistent temperature. When set at 350, the temps range from 403 to 330 degrees. Also the heat cycle takes over an hour. So make sure that you preheat the over for at least 1.5 hours before putting any food in the oven. If you average all of the temps in the first 3 heat cycles, it comes to 360 degrees and that is OK according to KitchenAid.
So, if you enjoy staring at your food for the entire time it is cooking and having food that is burnt, under cooked or both, look no further, this is the range for you. If you want a range that is able to maintain a temperature then do yourself a favor and do not buy this range.
