Self Cleaning Mode results in purchasing a new one

2 hours into the 3-1/2 self clean cycle, the oven completely shut down. Could not open the oven door as it was still locked for self clean, even after it cooled. Apparently, the temperature was too hot and burned the digital control panel, the thermal fuse, and the transformer. Although I have seen several complaints on-line, and the unsuccessful repair guy said it is an issue, Kitchen Aid says they have not heard of this. So, I called in a formal complaint to their quality department to have it properly documented. Also, if you dare to use self clean mode, do it before the warranty runs out, but I would not recommend it!!!

What can I say but, Wow! I was not expecting to be so excited about this product but I am. First, let me say that of the 3 major kitchen appliances, the range is the one that you are most actively engaged with. And if you like to cook, you should go for quality. This tool just feels like quality. Congrats to the folks at KitchenAid who put this together - it is very impressive. The single most striking thinking about this unit, is that it perfectly bridges the balance between a professional and consumer unit. It is solidly built, all of the controls feel very good, the interface is pretty intuitive, and the instruction manual is well written.

I have had to have the electronic control pad replaced twice now. If the smallest amount of water, your cooking on the stove with water usually BTW, gets into the touch pad it frys it. Horrible design must have been made and never used in real world cooking situations. I could design a better stove.
