I got this item to deal with soups and it does the job, but it still takes time to fully blender items for smoothies, especially if its frozen fruit. I really should have gotten a cordless blender because the annoyance of the long cord in my small kitchen with limited outlets is challenging sometimes. The clean up afterwards is also time consuming. I probably would recommend the cordless if you can afford the extra $$
