Small Sausage Only
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am an avid sausage maker and I make summer sausage as a gift for my friends but not with this kit. For some incomprehensible reason, KitchenAid does not offer a large tube for stuffing summer sausage casings. Don't fool yourself into thinking the tiny tubes that come with this kit will work, they don't. They leave tons of air pockets in the sausage and it takes forever to stuff a full size case. If you plan to make summer sausage, you would be better off not getting a new KitchenAid mixer at all. Best Buy sells an awesome sausage stuffer and you can get a much less expensive grinder than buying a KitchenAid mixer and grinder / sausage attachment. However, if you will only ever want to make small sausage and you already have a KitchenAid mixer, this kit is great. The grinder is effective, especially if you partially freeze your meat cubes before grinding, and the small sausage attachments work very well.
