    Overall a great headset

I have owned 3 pairs of S4 earbuds, the first 2 pairs were gen 1 (round super sticky cables that clung to everything) These headphones had great sound quality and I loved them, however with the cable design they always got caught on things and ripped out of my ears and I went through 2 sets of them in 1 year. For my 3rd set I decided to purchase the S4i with the iphone connector as I have recently purchased an iphone. The new set are also the version 2 of the earbuds with the flat cables. The new design is much better and they dont get caught as much. I have had problems with these more easily just falling out of my ears though. Im not certain why these are worse than the gen 1s at that, but I attribute most of that to the weight of the volume controls. the set does come with a clip to help hold them up which I have recently attached and seems to help with this problem. overall I would buy these again and they are extremely usefull to me with my frequent business trips needing to talk on the go while also having a set of earbuds for workouts at the hotels I stay at. I hope that in the next revision Klipsch is able to reduce the weight strain placed on the headphones to create more stability in the ear. Thats the only thing I can knock these for. Lastly, for any gamers out there I have just recently purchased an alienware laptop, and these headphones + microphone can be configured to both work on the alienware laptop which utilizes the creative labs recon 3di sound card. It makes the headseat even more valuable to me as typically I would need to carry a more traditional headset with seperate voice in and voice out jacks on my old laptop. Neat perk to these earbuds for alienware owners. I believe both mic and earbuds work on a single jack with apple based computers as well, but they did not work that way on my asus and I have heard this is a very uncommon characteristic to find so dont expect it to work with many computers.

Deep bass, full sound, cancels out noise.

I'm not an audiophile. Just a consumer who wants fair value for my money. Before the Klipsch's, I bought a PowerBeats by Dr. Dre set and I was pretty disappointed. For $160, I expected to be blown away. At the very least, I wanted to feel like after spending that kind of money, I would be able to say "Now I get it" since I was upgrading from my factory iPhone headset. I took the PowerBeats back within 24 hours. After reading some reviews of these Klipsch's, I bought a set for $99. Major difference in my opinion. The bass sounds deeper and the music just sounds "fuller" if that makes sense. I've tried changing out the different earbuds and that also affects the "fullness" so make sure you try them all out. Maybe the biggest key though is pushing the buds all the way in (and maybe even turning them a bit) creates a tight seal and blocks out virtually all background noise (and creates a deeper bass). NOW I get it.

    Pros out-weigh the cons

    Posted .

The Klipsch rugged model is a great addition to their award winning line up that has previously received so much appraisal. These headphones sound fantastic for the price and provide a decent amount of noise isolation. However there are a few things to consider: I use them primarily walking around a noisy college campus, at the gym, and riding my bike. The do a better job than many of their competitors at keeping out unwanted sound, like weights clanking together at the gym. The remote and mic however are largely inconvenient for a number of reasons. The design is meant to provide easy access and large buttons that are simple to press. Because the remote is located on the chest area where the chord falls, its much more difficult to access than if it were closer to the ear or neck. The weight of the buttons often tug downward when moving around a lot, even while walking. This causes the ear buds to slightly slip and constantly need to be pressed back in. It is also inconvenient while lifting weights, as many exercises require touching your chest (extremely annoying with bench press in particular). If none of these complaints are potentially meaningful to your own personal needs, I think their an incredible option for high quality durable in-ear headphones at a very good price point.

    Outstanding Value, Sound and Seal

    Posted .

These earphones are nothing short of amazing! The sound isolation and quality are fantastic. Klipsch claims to have done significant research on fit. I believe them. However, if you read some of the poor evaluations for these headphones, you will find comments like, not comfortable, or they wouldn't stay in. My experience is this, if you put them in like typical earphones you may be sorely disappointed. I know I was. They felt terrible and the sound quality was mediocre. In the instructions, they talk about placing the wires over you ears. In my case, this tidbit of information became critical and is the key to an incredible fit. As I experimented by rotating the earbud, when I reached the point where the wire was pointing up (in position to drape the wire over the top of my ears, the earbud found a very natural place where it seated perfectly in my ear and sealed the sound like never before. However, there is only one way of getting that seal, no other position works. Yours may be different. But when you find the right method, it is truly amazing. I can't hardly feel these in my ears, and the seal is the best ever. Sound quality for the money cannot be beat in my opinion. I think Klipsch has done themselves a disservice by not explaining in more detail how to find the right seal in the ear. Had they not mentioned placing the wires upward and draping over the ear, I never would have experienced how great these really are. So please experiment by rotating the earbud through 360 degrees to find the right spot for you. If you do that, you too will be amazed.

Excellent ear buds for the price

I bought two ear buds that day, a pair for my daughter and myself. I took the ones considered rugged and had the volume control because I often have to adjust volume. Unfortunately I did not realize that the volume control only worked with newer model iPods. So that was my mistake. Other than that, for the price the sound is excellent, noise cancelling works very well and they are extrmemely comfortable. I work out daily so hopefully the rugged aspect of the buds holds true.

I use these headphones daily. I have purchased several different brands and these are by far superior to all of them. Even the high end brands (Bose, Kenwood, Sony, etc.) This is my second pair, (they aren't washing machine proof) and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another pair when these go out. They fit snug in the ear canal and seal properly. Bass response is phenomenal for such a small speaker. I'm somewhat of a techie so I'm extremely picky when it comes to music. The microphone for the phone is pretty decent. Inside a helmet, at 70 mph, the other person couldn't even tell I was driving down the road. I would highly recommend these headphones to anyone looking for a good set.

    Decent Purchase

I switched to the Klipsch from the Beats Tour (after having 8 pairs fray near the plug, causing one or both buds to short). I love that they are weather resistant, bc in Oklahoma, you never know what the weather is going to do. I work outside 90% of the time at work. Sound quality is good, but not great. I love the dynamic range of the beats, it suits my liking (when they work)! The Klipsch function flawlessly everytime and work with my Android phone as well (just switched over from an iPhone 4S. I would recommend these to anyone. I have used Klipsch products in the past and have been very satisfied. If you're looking at these and the beats tour, go with these, it will save you a hassle of bringing them back.

    Best Pair I've ever owned.

    Posted .

I've owned many headphones, from different price ranges and classes, but I think I just found something, that blows all of them out of water, it's this masterpiece, sound reproduction is just amazing, fit is perfect, and noise cancellation is above headphones with active noise cancellation circuitry. trick is to get them fit in your ears, instead of jamming them deep in ear canal (which is main reason tour ears and head will start hurting really fast) try getting bigger tip and place them right in the beginning of ear channel, just enough to form a seal. one really nice surprise that I had, that after plugging them in to my MacBook, I still had control of music in iTunes with on wire remote, note it won't work on windows machine or iMac.

    Why are these things $200+

    Posted .

Value doesn't always mean a cheap price - it's a mixture of price and quality. These are cheaper than some earbuds and more expensive than others. But these sound better than any other earbud I've EVER heard! I was looking to replace some Altec Lansing headphones I had for a few years. My options were Monster iBeats ($100#, DiddyBeats #$150#, and these Klipsch Image S4i's #$100#. There are so many mixed reviews on the Beats by Dre products that I wasn't sure if they were worth my hard earned money. I listen to a wide range of genres on a regular basis - rap, country, metal, talk radio, etc. The Beats products are great for deep bass, but lacked the range I was looking for in a pair of $80+ headphones. The S4i's offer a great range of low, mid, and highs. Various eartips make these super comfortable for hours of listening. Fit in the ear well and seal off outside sound better than any other headphones I've ever used! I keep my iPhone and iPod at 10% volume most of the time because ALL of the music goes into your ear with zero sound leakage. There should charge at least $200 for these earbuds when you compare the others in the $100-range #iBeats, Diddybeats, Bose, etc.). If you are looking for a long-term pair of earbuds you have to buy these or you'll regret it. The only person who shouldn't buy these is someone who only cares about their headphones being a fashion statement rather than great for listening to music. Even if you're looking to spend $50 or $60 - spend a little more and get these. The S4 vs S4i is one BIG difference - the "i" adds a 3-button mic/controller on the cord. It works seamlessly with my iPhone 4s to control the music app, tune-in app, youtube app, and answering and making calls. I wasn't sure if the $20 extra for these feature was worth it, but after using these headphones for 2 days I am so glad I got the S4i's. The only bad thing I can say about these is they have a thin cord that seems like it could suffer from wear after a couple years. It does tangle somewhat early if you just toss them on a table without making sure the cord is flat.

Lawyer, use daily. Best pair ive had.

These are a 100 bucks. That's alot for a cell headset. Everybody tells me that when i disclose the price. But, as a lawyer, i get 60-70 calls a day. Have wore out 3-4 pairs of the Apple, Sony, every kind you can think of for $40 and under. By far Klipsch is best set ive ever had and worth the bill. Compare to a runner buying 30 dollar shoes at Walmart or 159 dollar Nike's from Famous Footwear. If your going to use them daily then well worth it - just like the shoes would be.

    Big Bang for your Buck

There are plenty out there twice the price, but you won't get twice the sound. Throw out your iPhone earbuds and give your music the sound it deserves. You will get a good full range with a quality bass. Watch for cars as you walk about, the noise cancellation works really well.

    Very good audio quality/price ratio

Very good audio range with strong middle and good highs. Enough bass to fill in music. Good separation and depth. Multiple ear piece fits. Used for airline listening that was good choice though not designed to be total isolation or noise cancellation. Also use for treadmill and rower machines. Performed well overcoming machine noise. Only couple of occasions did ear pieces work loose. Flat cord helps keep in place. Do hear nuances in music that not heard with iPhone supplied earphones. Good audio quality to price ratio.

Good overall for low to moderate excercise levels

    |

Overall these are good music wise but they fall our easily and worse yet the controller is located as such as to be in the way when at the gym. Any exercise such as bench press or machine such as the rear delt machine will constantly pause the music or raise and lower the music and that gets to be a pain!!!

I bought these to travel with. I wanted a great set of headphones to use on the plane that I could carry in my pocket. After much time reviewing I settled on these guys. WOW, the sound quality is amazing!! I'm hearing background voices/instruments I've never heard before. Love the great quality sound. If lows are your thing these are not the headphones for you. If quality audio is what your looking for you've found your phones.

I needed a new pair of earbuds to use when I go running since my Sennheisers were going bad. I wanted something that would stay in place, had controls for my ipod, and especially sounded great. These things fit all three of my needs. I've tested them for a couple months before writing this review and they are holding up really well, the buds don't fall out when I'm running and the sounds get better the more I use it.

I love these head phones. I had the original S4 set and those were great. Now I have the S4i and they are equally as great with perfect sound quality, iphone controls, and a more durable cord. Can't recommend them enough! One tip I have is to make custom ear tips for these head phones. All you do is buy a pack of airplane foam tips from a drugstore and cut them down to size. Then buy a leather hole punch and punch a hole in the foam tips and slide them on the headphones. The foam expands in your ear and makes a perfect seal. They sound great this way!

    Great sound, comfortable fit

    Posted .

Well, first and foremost, I would advise anyone who purchases this headset to try the different gel covers and to try rotating the earbud. Do not judge the sound until you have done this. I have (since purchase) seen many reviews where quality sound and noise isolation did not happen until the earbuds were rotated 180 degrees after insertion. I discovered this on my own; my rotation is probably about 120 deg and it turned the experience from "Man, this is lousy, I paid how much?" to "Wow! This sound is incredible and they are way more comfortable than my SC earbuds!" About me: I have probably bought 10,000 sets of earbuds over the past 10 years because I can never find ones that fit well or, they don't last. I seem to have a small ear canal and most earbuds are too large so they either pop out all the time or they are painful to wear. A couple of years ago, I bought SC FMJs ($75-ish at the time) and they have been the best I have had so far (but be careful with the foam!!!). Although the sound was good and the fit was not too bad, they did not isolate sound well unless you use the Comply foam tips (they tend to lodge in my ears, requiring a tool for removal!!!!) and would hurt if I wore them for more than an hour or so. When I saw how small these earbuds were, saw that they are not using Comply tips to block the sound, I just had to try them. As for the mic, when on phone calls the other party claims that I am very clear, more so than on any other headset I have used, but they sometimes echo just a little. The placement of the mic and controls at the yoke center, really is nice as you do not need to feel around or slide your hand up and down the wires until you find the mic. I plan to buy another pair soon, maybe two. That way I always will have one handy.

I've had this product for 2 months now and I'm very impressed. Cord is flat and seems pretty thick. The sound is about as perfect as can be for Hi, Mid and Low. They stay in your ear well and have a good seal. I just wish the cord control and mic were a little higher up. It tends to be around the upper stomach, lower chest area so it makes it hard for people to hear you speak. Other than that, I found a perfect pair that come with a great 2 year replacement warranty! I've had 2 of the Bose ie2 (sounded great, comfortable but the cord is thin and ripped out of the left earbud after 6months. 2nd pair started cutting out after 3mo.), Kicker Valid Talk (too bass heavy and cord broke at mic.) and the Sol Republic Amps (lasted a year, buds stick out too far, hard keep from falling out of my ears, cord was coming undone at right earbud and lost sound).

    Not Good for Physical Activity

    |
    Posted .

The overall build quality seems to be good on these. There is a definite left and right ear bud and it really makes them fit in the ear nicely without causing any pinch points. The only complaint I have is that the inline controls in the cord are a bit heavy and clunky. They are heavy enough that the ear buds loosen up and fall out even from slight movement. Forget about using these for any kind of real physical activity.
