I originally purchased a new pair of the Klipsch R-40PM, but they arrived clearly used — they had nicks, dog hair, and missing cords. Even though they sounded great, I was disappointed to pay full price for what was obviously an open-box item, so I returned them to Best Buy. Since the first pair still sounded impressive, I decided to try an open-box set rated “Excellent.” That turned out to be the right move. I saved a significant amount of money, and the speakers arrived looking essentially brand new while sounding just as good as the original pair. I also added a 10-inch Klipsch subwoofer I found on Facebook Marketplace, and now my desktop setup sounds fantastic while I’m editing photos or relaxing at the computer. One of the main reasons I chose the Klipsch R-40PM over other brands was the combination of compact size, composite wood construction (not plastic) and versatile connectivity options.

I've had these speakers for about a month now and I'm genuinely impressed. The sound is full, warm, and surprisingly powerful for bookshelf speakers. The Tractrix horn tweeter delivers really clear highs without any harshness, and the bass is punchy and well-defined. Setup was a breeze — no receiver needed, just plug in and go. I use them with my TV and PC and they work perfectly for both. Build quality feels solid and they look great. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a big upgrade from basic desktop or TV speakers.

These speakers have plenty of connection options! The sound is amazing and I swear over the last two weeks owning these, they have sounded better and better! The sound is clear and the bass isn't too over powering. I love walking into my garage and turning them on with the remote and my phone connecting automatically through bluetooth! I purchased them open box excellent conditon for $200 plus tax and I must say, they are a steal for that price. The only complaint I have is the employee who packaged these to ship, did not put the styrofoam that holds the top part of the speakers from moving. During transit, they scratched each other on the sides. It doesn't affect their aound but they do not look "excellent" I recommend these for the $200 price!

I grabbed these on a whim and honestly didn’t expect much because of the size, but they surprised me. The clarity is ridiculously good for smaller speakers. Vocals sound clean, highs are crisp, and they have more low-end than I thought they would. They’re perfect for a bedroom or office setup. Setup took maybe two minutes, just plug in and go. If you want something compact that still feels premium, these are a solid buy.

Really love these speakers. I purchased them with a turntable as I did not want to deal with connectivity issues associated with Bluetooth. They sound amazing. It looks like many people buy the accompanying sub woofer and I likely will too. Excellent sound quality, somewhat small, and powered so they will work with nearly anything.

Great sound, bass is lacking. Would consider getting the larger size driver. Pros: sounds good, looks great Cons: confusing input selection (color of led), no volume indicator

Great, small speakers - surprising level of bass and clarity for this price point and size.

I replaced a component system that cost over $3000 with these. I retained the subwoofer (Martin Logan 600) and the DAC SMSL VMV D1SE. Please keep this in mind. I did not use the internal dac of the Klipsch. With that in mind, I have to say these little speakers are incredible. They are very linear. Very clear and open and mostly neutral sound that I am completely satisfied with. I am using them in a small room that is approximately 10 x 12 feet. I bought these as an open box item and doubt seriously that you can beat these even at their list price of $499. If you are considering these as PC speakers, I think you will be very satisfied. If you are using these for an audio system in a small room you will most probably need a subwoofer. I have a Bose Soundbar 900 with the 500 subwoofer and 300 surround speakers and I prefer this system for tv and movies. The Bose AdaptiQ works very well and for tv and movies sounds better than the Klipsch to me. I am using the Klipsch R-40PM strictly for music listening with my PC and Onkyo CD player. The Klipsch performs so far ahead of it's price that I don't think you will be disappointed considering the price.

Very good speakers. The most challenge with them was not the speakers per se, but to find a reliable stand, that could be used together with my Roland Fantom 8 and subwoofer. I found one, but I have to redo it so the speakers won't fall down. The original stand is not only too low, but hard to find even on the Klipsch web site. A few additions, like attached sub and ability to run music from my phone or tablet through Blue Tooth are very useful as well. The speakers can turn themselves off after some timeout, like this feature!

[Employee of bestbuy] Easy hookups, easy to control with the remote or from the back of the speaker. Gets really loud and doesn’t even need a subwoofer

So these speakers are pretty awesome. They have crisp highs and a bit of midrange to enhance the soundstage. They are perfect for me because i need to have my music sound good, but not bugging my dad upstairs. They sound great at almost any volume, but they get brighter and brighter the more you turn them up. Luckily for me, i dont have to turn them up too far. I like the subwoofer out feature, as i have a klipsch 12 hooked up as well. The subwoofer paired and tuned well to the speakers as well. There's not too much thump to rattle stuff off the walls, but something extra.

I bought this speaker with the mindset of buying a subwoofer. Compared to my built in tv speakers (which is a low bar to beat) these blew my mind. It sounded like there was a subwoofer connected, however when playing songs I was familiar with I noticed that the bass punch was lacking. In the near future I’m definitely going to get a sub. Nevertheless, I am very pleased with the exiting sound profile it has and easily fills up a small room bedroom like mine. Got it 250 for open box excellent, but at 400 it is a bit harder to reccomend.

Bought as a Christmas present. Sound quality is good vocals are clear. Using them with a turntable but, love the ability to connect phone to them via Bluetooth. Wouldn’t pay full price but worth the $299 on sale.
