Easily the best bookshelf speakers I have ever listened to. I’m so impressed with these speakers. Out of the box, they’re just beautiful to look at. The black textured wood finish and the removable magnetic grill covers look great. These speakers pack great sound. They’re excellent as part of a surround sound package or on their own as a 2-channel bookshelf set. I love these speakers. They sound great and are easy to recommend. I recently received the Klipsch Reference Series 50M Bookshelf Speakers as part of a surround sound system containing the Klipsch Series 101SW – 10’ subwoofer, Series 30C Center Channel Speaker, Series 600F Floor Standing Speakers, Series 40SA Surround Sound Speakers, and an Onkyo - TX – NR6100 7.2 Channel THX Certified Network A/V Receiver. The entire package was perfectly balanced, and despite being just one part of a powerful sound system, the Reference Series 50M Bookshelf Speakers did a great job producing well defined and accurate sounds while accompanied by much bigger speakers. The 50M is comprised of three main components. You have the horn, the tweeter, and the woofer. The 5.25” woofer is responsible for your bass response for lower frequency sounds. The 1” aluminum tweeter is responsible for the higher frequency sounds. The tweeter rests inside the horn. The horn focuses a small amount of sound and makes it louder. Think a trumpet, for instance. The 50M feature an edge-to-edge Tractrix horn. It all combines to create an efficient speaker with a very accurate sound reproduction. I was incredibly impressed at how clear voices sounded. Sound effects in movies were amazing. Music sounded great. The speakers do a great job of projecting sound across a room. I’ve been playing movies and music for the last week and sound never felt distorted to my ears. Nothing ever felt “tinny” or narrow. The audio from the 50M was rich and detailed. For instance, for test purposes, I played the 4K version of “Air Force One” with the Dolby Atmos audio track. I love that movie because there are a variety of sound effects and settings throughout the movie. You get the sound of gun fire. The sounds of jets surrounding you. Then you have busy war room type settings. With the 50M, sound transitioned perfectly from the larger front speakers to behind me. Everything sounded perfect to me. I compared the sound on the 50M with an older surround sound system I had in the same family room. There was no comparison. These Klipsch speakers were a night and day difference. They perfectly complemented the other speakers in the system. The bass and the treble sound felt very accurate to my ears. These speakers stand around 14”, are 7” wide, and have a depth of around 8.5”. The speakers feature gold plated binding posts compatible with banana plugs. I think these speakers are great. Whether they’re your surround sound speaker or the primary speaker of your system, I don’t think you will be disappointed. I can’t think of enough ways to praise them. Check these speakers out! 5/5

I decided to upgrade my 5.2 to a 7.2! I use these as my front surrounds and it's a night and day difference!

Initially opening these speakers made me think if I was confident in their capability to produce quality sound as I had recently ran into an issue with a past pair of speakers. My second guessing was erased once they were set up. This pair of monitor speakers is sure to satisfy any surround sound needs. Everything from the design to the sound quality is exactly what I needed in to feel reassured that this was the right choice. The design is standard but built with quality materials, the rose gold accents are a nice touch too. From a sound standpoint these speaker delivered more than what I was expecting. Deep base and crisp treble with zero though of cracking or distortion. One thing that is needing to be notes is that these speakers do not come with speaker wire so be sure to have some available during set up. Another thing that I was happy to see what that the front mesh face of these speakers pops off easily allowing access to cleaning/dusting if needed. All in all I am happily content with these monitor speakers as they are designed to last and produce satisfactory sound!

For the last two weeks I've been test driving the Klipsch Reference Series 50M bookshelf speakers. This version is new for 2022 and there isn't much information about it online yet. However, I think it replaces the 51M Bookshelves. Overall I think It looks fantastic and sounds great. The Klipsch 50M now features a clean design with hidden fasteners and a magnetic grill cover that matches the rest of the 2022 reference series speakers. On the front of the cabinet there is one 5 3/4 inch driver and a large newly designed horn. On the back there is an exhaust port and a set of banana jack inputs. When being used by themselves as a front channel they sound good. They can get really loud and sound clear. The highs project really well and the bass is acceptable for a driver of its size. However, I would recommend painting it with a dedicated woofer for better sound. I am currently using them as surround sound speakers but I probably wouldn't recommend that to someone else. As a surround speaker, their full potential is wasted. Most times I can't tell if it's on or working unless I put my ear up to them. They really need a full spectrum of sound and more volume to be appreciated. With all that said, if you intend to use them as your front channels they will sound great and you won't be disappointed.

The R50M Klipsch bookshelf speakers are some great speakers that sound good as standalone bookshelf speakers or surround sound speakers. The R50’s come in a wooden enclosure that’s painted black. They have detachable magnetic grills, which give you easy access to viewing the beautiful tweeter and coper-colored woofers. The back of the speakers have 2 speaker ports that can be used with banana clips. There is also a female screw hole that can be used for mounting the speakers to a speaker stand. These speakers are tall, with a total height of 14” tall and 8” long, they can look out of place if you’re using them as surrounds on speaker stands. Although, when placed on a shelf, they look great. Something I’m not used to seeing, is on the bottom of the speakers they have a single flat piece of cork instead of 4 rubber pegs. I loved that Klipsch decided to do this, as it gives the speakers a very low profile, while keeping them from sliding anywhere. The R50’s are built exceptionally well. They’re very sturdy and have zero lose parts, and they sound amazing too. I had to try them out as 2ch bookshelf speakers before I did anything else, just to see what kind of sound is produced. I connected them to my Onkyo NR1600 along with my turntable, the results were nice. The vocals were great, they were very bright and clear. Music sounded good, with the amazing tweeters these speakers have, I was able to hear everything crystal clear. The bass that the woofers provide is good for their size, but if you really want a good listening experience, I highly recommend adding a subwoofer. I added my Klipsch 101sw 10” sub and that’s all this needed to make it bump. The next thing I wanted to tryout was how well the R50’s sound as surround sound speakers. So, I connected a 5.2.1 Dolby Atmos set up and used the R50’s as my surround speakers. The results were great, these make even better surround speakers than they do 2ch speakers. The sound is so lifelike that I actually felt like I was in the movie. Overall, I really like the Klipsch Reference R50 bookshelf speakers. They make good 2ch speakers, (even better when connected with a subwoofer). But the speakers make the perfect surround sound speakers, the sounds that they produce are so lifelike. They look amazing too, especially when you remove the magnetic grill an expose the gorgeous copper colored woofer and the midnight black indented tweeter. The build quality on these speakers is also phenomenal, you can easily tell these were made to last. I highly recommend these spears!

The Bookshelf Speakers by Klipsch help set the mood for your audio and visual experience. The appearance of the speakers adds a touch of elegance to any room. I have been using these speakers for a home theater setup with surround, floor, center and a sub and I must say that I am truly impressed. The speakers help create the surround sound that is exceptionally clear and crisp. The bookshelf speaker is a two-speaker system but sounds like one, with a rear firing port for your bass. I am using these speakers with the Onkyo AV receiver and they integrated with the system seamlessly. These speakers when combined with the Reference Series Floor, Surround and Center will enhance your listening pleasure and take your movies and gaming experience to another level. The music and the movies, everything sounds so much better, everything is just so much crisper and clearer and clean to give you a better immersive experience. I did find myself being lost in the music just because how amazing the sound quality was. You can distinctly hear the different instruments, the ranges, the pitches, the highs and the lows. I would recommend these speakers to anyone in the market. You will not be disappointed.
