Bought one for my studio about 400 sq ft. It was plenty of bass. Liked it so much decided to add another one to my set up. Currently running a 5.2.2 and i love it. Difference is night and day. Twice as much bass, clean bass. And evenly across the room. You cant tell where the bass is coming from. Having 2 subs is totally worth it if you love watching movies.

More Power than Most People Will Ever Need

After searching every corner of the internet, I went with the SPL-120. It has more than enough power for a living area that is bigger than 3,500 cu. feet. The internet “experts” insisted this would be too small and that this space required two supposedly “better” subs. Such claims are bogus nonsense aimed at steering unsuspecting shoppers towards overbuying internet direct products. This plays loud and accurately and has all the important features—great looks, smaller size, ease of use and awesome sound for movies and music. This plays powerfully far below 24hz and can be felt in far away rooms, even at lower volumes. But still plays accurately late at night at a low volume. You don’t need two subs, unless your room is a huge open space. This sub placed near the corner of the room will overpower most peoples’ home theater space. The pic shows approximately where a single sub should be placed, try moving it near the corner, slightly angled across the listening area, and a few inches away from the back wall. Beware of internet claims that you need two subs. Every two sub setup pic on the internet shows two subs one on each side of the TV. Yes, that will work, but it is the perfect picture of improper sub placement. One sub like the SPL-120, properly placed will give you all the bass you could possibly need in most home theater stereo setups.

Love it. Works fantastic in large rooms or small rooms. Plenty of room for extra power and the sound is perfect. It completes my Klipsch home theater. Wouldnt waste money on other cheaper subs.

Purchased a 12inch professional series many years back and still use it for a 1000sq ft room and it never disappoints no matter the genre played. This new addition to a smaller theater room is so powerful that I keep the bass dialed in slightly more than half way on the rear of the unit. I don’t think I’d stray away from Klipsch subwoofers!

I purchased all Bowers & Wilkins speaks and wanted to keep it the same and go with the 12” B&W sub but after seeing it in person I just wasn’t sold that it would pack a punch. I wanted something a bit more intimidating and something that would shake the room and so far it’s doing just that. Very happy with my purchase

Solid overall subwoofer

So I was in the market for a while with deciding to buy a solid overall subwoofer, and decided to buy this one. I am a bass head so I need my bass to be top notch. This subwoofer meets my expectations and I am enjoying music and movies so far. It gets loud and sounds extremely good. The only complaint I have since I'm very picky is that they could've bumped the rms power rating to 400rms at least and maybe a stronger driver for increased output, but this will do for sure. If you want solid bass, I would consider this subwoofer since it has some features that I look for in a subwoofer. The copper cone is a big one, as it will help greatly with thermal cooling capabilities under heavy usage. I also like that there isn't any audible port noise whatsoever. This subwoofer is a long throw sub so it'll hit the low notes nicely. Get the 12" model instead of the 10" model. People think the bigger the subwoofer the louder it'll play, yes that is true, but what is more important, is that it'll play lower frequencies than a smaller subwoofer. A 12" sub is all you really need. Trust me, get this bad boy, you won't regret it

Great Speaker Just Not Outstanding!

I recommend the SPL-120 if you’re looking to match other Reference Premier speakers. Very stunning to the eyes. However, if you’re a fan of bass and looking for subsonic LFE then try elsewhere. The SPL-120’s bass needs to be deeper and more refined. It’s a bit underwhelming. Majority of the time the fit and finish of Klipsch speakers is high quality, but my SPL-120 has visible glue that was not wiped off or sanded down on one of the port seams.

I tested this subwoofer against the lower cost Klipsch Reference series (R-120SW) as well as the Martin Logan Dynamo 600x. I found the reference series to be the most powerful but the low frequency seemed "muddy" in comparison. I found the Dynamo 600x to be sharp but underpowered for a bigger room. The SPL was the perfect spot in the middle. Ample power but better defined low frequency sounds for home theater material (tested with the movie Tron Legacy light cycle race) as well as music.

I read numerous reviews of this speaker where they said it wasn’t quite enough, so I was nervous when I purchased it. Not sure what they’re trying to fill - Bush Stadium maybe???? I have a 2200 sq ft house with a 600 sq ft home theater (living room) and it’s MORE than enough. I don’t want the cops showing up because a gunshot alarm went off! As with all Klipsch speakers, I am very pleased.

Purchased an entirely new speaker system of Klipsch products. This is my first purchase of a Subwoofer. It was easy to added it to the stereo receiver, as well as adjust the settings as necessary. The sound is outstanding! I could even hear the depth of the sound in another room so clearly that I thought someone was outside the house making the sound. I definitely recommend this Subwoofer.
