    Helping to define my childhood

I had lots of favorites as a kid. Superman, Spider-Man, Wonder Woman, He-Man, Weird Science, Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, so many more... and Krull. I would watch it whenever it came on TV. When I would visit my grandparents, I would get them to rent it on VHS(since we didn't have a VCR at home), and I would watch it REPEATEDLY! I'm sure they tired of it quickly, but they tolerated it because of how much they could see I loved it. When I got older and graduated to DVD, I was elated to eventually find it and snatch it right up! None of the magic was lost, of course. However, as an adult, I could see the obvious cult appeal as it was by no means an Oscar contender on any level. Still, the magic remained. A gigantic alien castle-ship invading a gorgeous Arthurian-like planet(GREAT cinematography!). Horrific looking aliens with laser weapons that reminded me of the original V. An alliance between rival kingdoms to battle the alien menace, cemented by the marriage of Prince and Princess. The new King's quest to rescue his bride and slay the Beast. And the ancient and powerful Glaive! **..shudders..** Oh, I wanted one of those!! Still do, actually! Classic and, at the same time, totally original!! No, the acting was not Oscar-caliber, but there were some not-yet-realized gigantic talents in that movie!! Robbie Coltrane(Harry Potter's 'Hagrid') as Rhun and Liam Neeson(Duh!) as Kegan. Even Ken Marshall went on to play one of my favorite recurring characters on Star Trek: Deep Space Nice, Lieutenant Commander Michael Eddington, who would leave Starfleet to join the rogue Maquis. GREAT story line, and Ken was GREAT in it!! Thing is, I don't believe Krull was ever meant to be an Oscar contender. Someone had an idea. King Arthur vs. space aliens!! And it was BEAUTIFUL!! And let me tell you something, here... the time is ripe for a sequel!! :-D I've had the perfect story line for a sequel for years!!! Pure magic! Would I recommend Krull to a friend!? You bet!! In fact, I've had to place my order for the new Blu-ray with Amazon since it's already back-ordered at Best Buy. :-( :-D

Krull takes many clichés from both fantasy and sci-fi and wields them to great effect. With an antagonist called the Beast equipped with his army of Slayers, you already know that you're in for a camp-filled ride and, as long as that's all you're expecting, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Sure, Krull isn't going to give you a whole lot of subtext but the locations, set designs and score are all fantastic and coalesce in such a way to give one a rich filmgoing experience. Recommended!

This movie is half way between being so bad, it's good and being so good, it's er...good. It's neither too camp, nor badly acted, nor does it have any really dire special effects. But then again, the acting isn't brilliant nor are the effects stunning (except for the spider, which is pretty good). In short, it's OK. The hero's main weapon is a kind of giant shuriken-thing which slices through almost anything. It's also under his mental control, which is nice, but as he's non-too bright we don't get to see any of the really wicked things you COULD do with a flying circular saw if you had an imagination.

I was shopping the store looking for something different. I called a friend and told him I couldn't find anything, and he mentioned he'd just bought this on Blu from the $7.99 bin. That's all I had to hear. I remember bits of it from my youth but it was just the sort of different thing I was looking for. If you're feeling unsure of what to watch, go back to the past and pick something like this out. It's a nice break from all of the CGI garbage we're being forced to watch these days.

be. This is a wonderfully campy movie that was released on the heels of the fantasy kick in the early 80's after Conan the Barbarian. Sadly the Blu-Ray Master is very limited in the scope. The disc only contains the movie, with no extras and there aren't even subtitles!!! The special edition of Krull on DVD was packed with so many features and extras that this makes the Blu-Ray pale in comparison. Pick this up if you love this movie, otherwise get the more feature packed DVD.

I first saw this movie when it was first released in 1983. 32 years latter, it's still a very entertaining movie. It combines the elements of fantasy, sword & sorcery, with a science fiction twist. While not on the same level as Star Wars, it has move in common with type of movies that Ray Harryhousen made. Ie: "7th voyage of sinbad" of note the film also has actors Liam Neeson, in one of fist screen roles, as well as Robbie Coltrane.

KRULL runs slow to me but I like the film nonetheless. It’s cheezy and totally 80s sci-fi with decent acting. If ur looking for a film that doesn’t take itself too seriously, this is the disc for u. For it’s time, it was top notch but it hasn’t held up over the years. Still it’s a sci-fi must own.

Looking for a great 80s sci-fi/fantasy movie to waste a couple of hours? Look no further than Krull. The film offers everything there is to love about this type film: tons of great practical effects, hammy acting, a stunning score, and grand adventure. Krull is a fun movie, and is recommended for fans of 80s flicks. The films looks great on Blu-ray, but unfortunately contains no bonus material.

    Great Dvd, Disappointing Movie

Here is an absolutely outstanding special edition dvd to a movie that was not so outstanding. 'Krull' presented a cool story, beautiful production design, and mediocre performances. Unfortunately, the whole movie is just kind of boring, and the action sequences quite disappointing. It is a movie that could have been so much more. Displayed here nicely though in its original 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen ratio.

A childhood favorite that's a little corny in hindsight but that still holds up well. A fantasy sci-fi picture with plenty of action, good characters, solid acting, and fair production values. The Blu-ray delivers a very good, naturally film like image. Sound is pretty good, too. Sadly, there are no supplements, but the disc is rather cheaply priced, so that's no surprise.

Ah, Krull. Such an... um... "classic"? The film looks its era, but is still a fun time. If you watch it for no other reason, do so to catch Neeson and Coltrane. I bet you forgot (or didn't even know) they were in it.

This has been out for awhile and I wanted my son to have it. He likes this type of movie entertainment and was not disappointed. No it's not for everyone but does stand up to most as Sci-Fi / Fantasy stories are done.

This movie has a fun cast, and some good ideas, but it ultimately falters under unsure direction and uneven storytelling. Still has some fun fight scenes and characters throughout.
