This is a great movie. It is a fun blend of science fiction and fantasy. It does not feel like an ordinary run of the mill action movie. I also enjoyed the packaging since it is more than just functional only.

This Blu-Ray edition simply offers the movie in better clarity than DVD. That is the only advantage of this over the DVD Special Edition release, which was loaded with behind-the-scenes bits. I know a lot of people don't bother with home video disc extra features, and I usually only watch those once, but this does not even have a menu or chapters. Most Mill Creek Direct produced discs are cheaply produced, without proper menus and with poor packaging. Still, if this is priced really low and you want to watch the movie with better clarity, it serves that purpose.

Helping to define my childhood

I had lots of favorites as a kid. Superman, Spider-Man, Wonder Woman, He-Man, Weird Science, Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, so many more... and Krull.
I would watch it whenever it came on TV. When I would visit my grandparents, I would get them to rent it on VHS(since we didn't have a VCR at home), and I would watch it REPEATEDLY! I'm sure they tired of it quickly, but they tolerated it because of how much they could see I loved it.
When I got older and graduated to DVD, I was elated to eventually find it and snatch it right up! None of the magic was lost, of course. However, as an adult, I could see the obvious cult appeal as it was by no means an Oscar contender on any level.
Still, the magic remained. A gigantic alien castle-ship invading a gorgeous Arthurian-like planet(GREAT cinematography!). Horrific looking aliens with laser weapons that reminded me of the original V. An alliance between rival kingdoms to battle the alien menace, cemented by the marriage of Prince and Princess. The new King's quest to rescue his bride and slay the Beast. And the ancient and powerful Glaive! **..shudders..** Oh, I wanted one of those!! Still do, actually!
Classic and, at the same time, totally original!! No, the acting was not Oscar-caliber, but there were some not-yet-realized gigantic talents in that movie!! Robbie Coltrane(Harry Potter's 'Hagrid') as Rhun and Liam Neeson(Duh!) as Kegan. Even Ken Marshall went on to play one of my favorite recurring characters on Star Trek: Deep Space Nice, Lieutenant Commander Michael Eddington, who would leave Starfleet to join the rogue Maquis. GREAT story line, and Ken was GREAT in it!!
Thing is, I don't believe Krull was ever meant to be an Oscar contender. Someone had an idea. King Arthur vs. space aliens!! And it was BEAUTIFUL!! And let me tell you something, here... the time is ripe for a sequel!! :-D I've had the perfect story line for a sequel for years!!! Pure magic!
Would I recommend Krull to a friend!? You bet!! In fact, I've had to place my order for the new Blu-ray with Amazon since it's already back-ordered at Best Buy. :-(
:-D

Picked this up purely for the nostalgia of the 1980's sci-fi/fantasy film that it is. Did not disappoint. Fun and a little cheesy.

A fantastic older sci-fi movie. Good picture quality and sound, only problem is that there are no subtitles on the disc (Or at least they wouldn't work on my xbox one media player).

Krull takes many clichés from both fantasy and sci-fi and wields them to great effect. With an antagonist called the Beast equipped with his army of Slayers, you already know that you're in for a camp-filled ride and, as long as that's all you're expecting, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Sure, Krull isn't going to give you a whole lot of subtext but the locations, set designs and score are all fantastic and coalesce in such a way to give one a rich filmgoing experience. Recommended!

The high definition picture is stunning and blows away the picture quality of the DVD. I watched the first 30 minutes or so looking at the background scenery before I realized I wasn't listening to what was going on. If you are a fan of the movie, the Blu-Ray is a must-have.

Classic early 80's sci/fi adventure flick! Fun to watch and enjoy. Comes filled with "B" acting and early special effects/CGI. A good addition for your collection if you enjoy that genre of films.

KRULL runs slow to me but I like the film nonetheless. It’s cheezy and totally 80s sci-fi with decent acting. If ur looking for a film that doesn’t take itself too seriously, this is the disc for u. For it’s time, it was top notch but it hasn’t held up over the years. Still it’s a sci-fi must own.

Best version of this film available today. It's great in an 80s sci-fi kind of way. I don't know how well it will translate for younger generations, though

Every fantasy movie collection must have this classic. While not as well known as others, it does deserve a spot next to them. Clearly inspired (somewhat) by Star Wars, the movie starts off fast and doesn't let up as the heroes try to stop the evil force from taking over their world.
The best part of the movie is the awesome music from acclaimed composer James Horner. You'll recognize his style immediately from the opening scene and it really helps to set the tone. Another movie styled similar to this was Flash Gordon with Queen doing the entire soundtrack. It just makes the movie that much more enjoyable.

s Krull technically a good movie? No. Did I have a blast watching it? ABSOLUTELY! Krull is a campy fusion of sci-fi and fantasy, which despite being set in a fictional world, leaves no doubt in your mind it was made in the 80s. While the characters, dialogue, and plot are entertainingly cheesy, sometimes the movie can be surprisingly beautiful to look at. As far as good bad movies go, this one is pretty darn good bad.
