Amazing movie for kids and Adults alike. This is truly a fantasy movie masterpiece.
For me David Bowie was outstanding as the goblin king outstanding at both acting and singing the songs in this film are brilliant and Jennifer connelly was fantastic as the babysitting sister who wishes her new baby brother gone forever.
Directed by Jim Henson (Muppets), Produced by George Lucas (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Willow), Screenplay by Terry Jones (Monty Python) and Music by the legend David Bowie what else would one from a fantasy film.
This 30th anniversary edition has it all plus extras I adore the digital book the disk sits in the back you then have the book section explaining the story behind labyrinth.
How it became the classic it is today information about the film, sets, characters, director, and actors there are interviews from Jennifer connelly and Jim Henson son.

Sure it's very '80s in its look and with its music - not just because of David Bowie but because of stellar work from Trevor Horn (Buggles, Yes, Art Of Noise, tons of producer's credits). Subject matter is not for most of the littlest of little ones, but a good introduction to darker fantasy films. And of course, the great work from Jim Henson and his workshop. The stellar script from Terry Jones who as of this writing is dealing with the onset of dementia so we should savor everything he's done much like we now savor Henson and Bowie. And finally the obvious acting chops from a kid before breaking big - Toby Froud as the baby. Oh, and Jennifer Connolly is pretty good too, I guess. If you've never seen it, it's a pretty solid blind buy. If you have, you don't need me singing its praises.

Cult classic fantasy film with David Bowie, as the Goblin King, and Jennifer Connelly as Sarah, the young ingénue starlet of the adventure through the Labyrinth. The movie is very nostalgic if you were born in the 80's or saw it back then when you were a kid, and you probably love it if that's the case. And if its your first time watching, the story is great and full of surprises and some fun songs along the way. The packaging on the 30th anniversary Blu-Ray is awesome too! Its bound like a hard-back story book with 12 pages of photos, archival info, and interviews and notes from Jim Henson and Bowie. I highly recommend getting your copy of this latest anniversary edition and you won't be disappointed!

Ahh, the 80's was a wonderful time in the history of cinema. You could proudly (and foolishly sometimes) wear your heart on your sleeve and be as imaginative and quirky as you wanted to be, without the ubiquitous cynicism and terminal irony that runs rampant today, infecting and crushing your story. And thus darkish and buoyant fantasy films like Labyrinth were born (directed by Jim Henson and written by Terry Jones of Monty Python). Fun, campy, enchanting, inspiring, a bit airy and a bit dark, and very imaginative, are the best words to describe this "Alice in Wonderland" type story that mixes Jim Henson's amazing puppetry with fantastical and phantasmagorical set pieces, David Bowie's rich and silky singing, and young and beautiful Jennifer Connelly making her way through a world of oddities and wonder.
Since most special effects are done with CGI these days, Labyrinth is a welcomed nostalgic return to the skillful use of practical effects (though there is some prominent green screen).
This Bluray is a handsome step up from the DVD in both sound and video. It is not the cleanest image but it looks fantastic in 1080! There are also some nice extras on this disc.
Labyrinth is more Grimm's than a Disney type fairy tale. I wholeheartedly recommend that you introduce your child to this magical, musical and imaginatively dark and fun film!

Bowie, Henson, and in “digibook” form. You can’t go wrong, especially for it’s nostalgic value.

Okay so this movie being re-released in 4K is literally the only reason my wife allowed me to buy a 4K TV. And it was our way to test out the 4K player on our Xbox which was the main reason I wanted the TV. And we do not regret a single second of any of those purchases. My wife was in tears when she heard the first notes of the music being played in the intro. It sounded so real almost as if Bowie himself was sitting right next to you singing it to you. I don't know if that is because our sound system but either way that alone made the purchase worth it. The steel book just adds to the look of the overall case and makes it much sturdier than your average DVD case.
