I need Firewire and USB 3.0 so I can use the drive for new and older systems. I was immediately impressed with everything about this product from packaging to build quality to setup and performance. This drive is very solid. It sits sturdy on the desk when I use the power switch. It runs smoothly and is quiet. I am ordering another identical drive as a backup for the backup. I have been using several smaller external drives believing it is safer in case a drive breaks down. But I have changed my opinion and will be using a pair of these 4GB drives and just use the smaller drives with my Macbook Pro.

Performs as advertised, limited to UBS 3.0 connectivity, requires power, blue light a little bright, does not overheat, power transformer is standard brick size, has LaCie Share function on start up so can be partitioned for both MAC OS and Windows, or reformatted for either. I use as a USB shared drive off my home router and works quickly-does not slow my network noticeably.

I needed another external hard drive to backup my iMac. Since I already own two other external hard drives from LaCie for several years and never had any problems, my choice was easy and I just stayed with LaCie. I'm very pleased with this hard drive.

I have an older iMac that does not support USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt, so I need drives that support FireWire 800. I have 5 of these drives, and use them for backing up my boot drive and storing pictures and video files. So far they work great.

The HD made it quickly and performs just as advertised. Great product!

sleek design and great storage plus has firewire and usb

I use this hard drive at several different locations and because my biggest obstacle is connecting to multiple computers, this works out great. USB 3 works with both my new computers and my old computers and firewire 800 with older computers at work. I haven't had a problem with this at all and the read/write speeds are excellent. I had a g drive before that crashed on me and my older Lacie drive is still running strong.

Packaged nicely, comes with hardware for several setup options, built well, runs quiet, super fast, cables are included, Only four stars as time will tell how long it lasts but so far no lost data or anything like that.

haven't had it long enough for an intelligent review but good so far

I own 16 LaCie external hard drives dating back several years. I have never had any trouble.. no crashes.. just everyday reliable storage for my video editing. Latest purchase was 2 d2 Quadra USB3 4TB drives. I am able to take these drives with me when I travel and need to work away from home.
