This is a good product to help aid in a restful nights sleep for those that require some sort of background noise to sleep. Due to ringing in my ears whenever it is too quiet it is hard for me to sleep well without some kind of noise going on in the background. This device has several fan settings as well as white noise and either can be set to varying levels of noise to help. One great feature is that it remembers your last settings from either the fan settings or the white noise setting. This allows you to turn it off when not using it and when turned back on the volume and noise settings will be what you last used. It's other use is to help screen conversations or other noise to prevent eavesdropping and it succeeds in that respect due to its volume levels going up to quite a high level.

This Lectrofan white noise and fan machine is a very compact device perfect for bedside use. It provides multiple options (e.g. 10 white noises and 10 fan noises) accessed via buttons located on the device body. While the device volume is adjustable, volume adjustments are made via buttons not a "turn dial". This can making large volume adjustments tedious. In addition this is not a "connected" device and therefore cannot be controlled via phone/tablet via an app. Nor is this item programmable; shutoff time is manually set via button. Ultimately, my sleep patterns did not improve via use of this product. However, I am already a sound sleeper who general does not have problems falling asleep as needed.

This really is a good product but did not help me for what I wanted it to do. The sounds are good quality and and the build quality was incredible. I am sure that in the right situation, this is exactly what you'd need.

I was excited to receive this as my wife needs background noise to sleep and had been running a fan all night. As this advertised it could not only produce white noise but also fan noises we were excited to try it. After a night of using it the excitement wore off. 3 nights in this was off and the fan was back on. The unit comes with 10 different fan sounds and 10 different white noise options. These appear to be achieved by just shifting the pitch of the base sound. The fan sound is basically just a 60 cycle hum that gets pitch shifted to mimic differing speeds and blade sizes. My wife and I found this actually got rather annoying as it starts to just sound like a loud buzzing after a while. The flow noises the actual fan produced that help break up the hum was not very well implemented, if at all, in this product. Fan mode didn’t survive even one full night. The white noise had the same problem as none of the generated pitches were pleasing after a few hours. The sound seemed randomly generated but only along a narrow band. This became a problem as other sounds bled though quite easily. A white noise generator is supposed to work by softening the background sounds you hear so that your subconscious isn’t disturbed by them. This is done by generating a sound across a large range of frequencies and durations so that individual sounds get lost in the noise. That didn’t happen with the noise generated by this device. The only option we had was to turn the volume up all the way and drown them out that way. For comparison, on the last night we tried our baby daughter’s travel noise generator and found that was a much more pleasing experience. The packaging does suggest using the device to block eavesdroppers. I did not test that, so it might be useful in this case. However I would not suggest it to someone who was trying to use it to help them sleep or drown out background noises.

I wasn't sure if I need or really wanted. However once I got it. I fell in love, it's perfect for my office (cubicle) and at home in a not so sound proof space. The item has adjusting volume control and you're able to use fan or white noise setting.

This little machine is perfect for recreating ambient fan noise and some white noise as well. I love the fact that it is powered by a usb cable because all i have to do is plug it into my alarm clock's usb port. That was my favorite feature. The volume levels were very good and the timer feature is perfect for having it auto shut down. The only negative is that there are several different fans and white noise sounds but they vary only slightly. Sometimes you don't even notice the difference between some of the sounds.

Work nights, sleep days. Live next to school. This noise generator is perfect for blocking out outside noises when an actual fan is not needed. Fan sounds, "Box" and "Oscillating" are perfect and most often used. White/Brown/Pink noise tones are too harsh and not soothing. Overall good product, does what it is supposed to. USB power plugs into clock radio's port for easy power connection.

Im the type of person who needs white noise to sleep. So when I saw this machine I was very excited enthusiastic to try it out. Fan notices are my favorite I would even go so far as to keep my fan going but turned away from me during cold months just for the sound. But this product doesn't do it for me..... I was looking for more organic sounding effects it sounds very manufactured and as soon as I turned it on my enthusiasm took a turn. I was looking for something more realistic and this just wasn't it. Having this machine on even low would really annoy me. Just not what I had hoped and thought. We had a power outage and when I lights came back on I guess it triggered it to come on since it was still plugged up and I walked in my room wide-eyed thinking "what is that awful broken fan sound" o thought my heater broke then realized it was this device.... Will not be using needless to say. Great thought poor execution

I bought this for my husband after doing quite a bit of research. I initially thought I wanted to get a machine that used a fan and the air in the room to generate the white noise because I was worried about being able to detect a sound loop. However, the reviews won me over, and the price was low enough that I had to give this a chance. It's small enough that my husband is able to pack it when we travel. He loves it and has said it has made a tremendous difference for him. He can now sleep through the night. I am so glad that I gave this machine a chance. It's perfect!

I was intrigued with the premise of the Lectrofan- a device with a small footprint for your nightstand that produces 20 different sounds, with precise volume control. I'll get past my initial disappointment- it's not a fan at all. It is actually what manufacturer states (duh me) a "white noise and fan sound machine." My girlfriend has serious insomnia and I'm always looking for a way to improve her sleep. She was completely underwhelmed when I first plugged in the Lectrofan. Frankly, it's a hard sell to say to someone at the dinner table, "listen, it makes all these weird sounds that can help you sleep!" However, a night came when it was too cold to use the bedside fan and she realized it not only mimics that sound, but does so in a much more controllable way. She was hooked, It's made a big difference in the quality of her (and my) sleep.

I use a fan 365 days per year. I needed something that would mimic a fan for my first cruise. Well, this worked perfectly for my daughter and I. Now, whenever I travel and a fan is not available or not feasible to bring one I know I'll be all set! Highly recommend! A++++++ product!
