    Made for Multiplayer

Very fun game. If you have played the original, the basic concept is the same: You start in a safe room with 3 other survivors and basic weapons, and try to make it to the safe room at the end of the level, pciking up more powerful weapons along the way. There are the basic zombies, which will come at you en mass, and then there are the special zombies. Special zombies have niche roles, all of which are aimed at either doing massive damage, or dragging you away from the group to kill you. While one person can kill endless amounts of basic zombies, special zombies often require teamwork to kill, so the players that runs ahead or falls behind the group will often die first. This means that teamwork and sticking together become a neccessity to beat the levels. The game starts off with 4 environments, in which there are 4 or 5 levels for each. The game itself is not that long and can easily be beaten in less than a day, but it is the replayability that makes the game so much fun. Since the number of zombies that spawn and their spawning location are always random, each level is a different experience each time you play. In addition, you can also play multiplayer mode, where the special zombies are actually other players trying to prevent you from finishing the level. As stated previously, this game is especially fun for the multiplayer experience and the replayability, if you do not have xbox live, and no one to play with locally, you might want to grab another title such as Dead Rising 2.

    Great game, intense!!!

This game isn't for everyone. The "mature" rating is quite appropriate with the level of carnage and graphic detail that goes into killing zombies. Everything from chopping off heads with machetes, attracting hoards with pipe bombs, and yes, using a chain saw to cut the zombies in two. Needless to say, I loved it. It was challenging and intense as a video game should be. Sometimes it became less fun as it became extremely difficult, but don't let that shy you away from the game. There are several different modes of play. Offline you can only play with 2 players per console which is a bummer. Online campaign mode however allows you to play with 4 persons under the main characters Nick, Coach, Rochelle, and Ellis. Valve did a great job on many elements of the game. Notably is the way the infected take damage. There are over 40 different ways the zombies can take damage, and each weapon has some special damage abilities. Valve also managed to lace in some humor to the game which provides some comedic relief to the chaos. Ellis has inappropriate stories which no one wants to hear, and well the sound of hitting zombies with a frying pan or guitar never gets old. Besides the campaign mode, there are several more online modes where you can play as the infected or humans which provide for even more fun game play. The best seems to be scavenge. This round based game has you take turns between the infected and humans. Humans score points by filling a generator with gas from gas cans scattered around the map. The infected try to keep the point total low. Who ever wins the most rounds claim the bragging rights. Overall, I would highly recommend this game. Valve tends to make great games (Orange Box anyone?) and this one is no exeption.

When I first heard that the makers of half life were going to make a zombie game I was a bit skeptical at first. I played the first left 4 dead and thought it was a great and needed take on the zombie genre. 4 player co op in different situations was intense and fun. Not long after, however, a second was announced. It came out soon after and, in a way, it shows. Don't get me wrong. Im not going as far as to say that this is an unnecessary sequal. This game is still quite a bit of fun with a group of friends and if you haven't played the first game then this is definitely the one you should get. The new melee weapons are a nice fit for the game and fun to use. The new levels are pretty fun to play as well. Having played a lot of the first one with friends, however, we all agreed that it just wasn't as exciting as playing the first one. We played through all the levels and none of us felt the need to go back through and start again. It just felt a little bit like we were playing the same game. The new game modes didn't really interest us either. I still think this is a good game and worth playing with up to four people. If you don't have those people, however, I wouldn't waste full price on the game. You're AI teammates will test your patience. Make sure that your friends are the type to want to stay together and use teamwork or you will all die a lot and probably not find the game to be very enjoyable.

    Calling All Zombie Hunters...

Listen, guys. You, a few buddies, and a zombie apocalypse. What more needs to be said, eh? But seriously, with a fully-loaded arsenal of zombie slaying equipment and a few friends to help you smash skulls, you will be racing to catch your breath, running from safehouse to safehouse, and narrowly avoiding your own demise (hope you grabbed that med-pack...) until you somehow manage to escape the horde at the very last minute with but a few last headshots and a pipe bomb or two. Of course, if you'd rather just pummel your zombified opponents to the grave (again?), there is always the melee option (and one I'd strongly recommend - especially taking the ol' golf club to a few "baddies" like you're Tiger Woods or sumpthin'). Just watch out for Tanks! And WITCHES! Please, PLEASE don't disturb the witches! Unless you've got a death wish - or a buddy that's quick to lay down some heavy fire on your behalf. Otherwise, they'll dedicate the episode to you - our fallen survivor...

Left 4 Dead 2 takes the approach of if-it-ain’t-broke-don’t-fix-it. The gameplay is pretty much the same as Left 4 Dead, with a few added creatures and weapons to use to exterminate them. This time out, you take on (if you choose to play single-player offline) one of four new characters trying to survive the zombie apocalypse. Along the way you’ll encounter (of course) zombies, smokers, chargers and the dreaded witches. Like the original, you’ll come across loads of weapons both the shooty kind and the melee in order to dispatch anything that attacks you. The gameplay is simple. Point and shoot. Pretty straight forward. If you’re looking for plot, looks elsewhere. The only thing this game is concerned with is killing zombies. Lots and lots of zombies. This is the kind of game you play after a long, frustrating day at work and you just need to release some tension. Bottom line is – like most things in life – don’t take this game seriously; you are running around shooting zombies. Just sit back and enjoy it. There is online co-op play is that’s more you’re style and lots of downloadable content, namely extras “levels” to run through and, what else?, shoot some zombies.

Throw on your gear, grab your weapons, and stretch your muscles! The zombies are here and its up to you and your partners to stop 'em! As soon as this game starts your dropped in the middle of chaos. And, as you might have guessed, its an infinite amount of zombies constructing the chaos. Which leaves you only one option, blast your way through the town. But don't fret! You've got 3 partners to help you along the way, which you'll need against your fast-paced enemies. In single campaign, your partners can slow you down a bit, but in the online multiplayer, its a free-for-all shooting session. Please understand, online gaming is what games like this is made for. I've owned a XBox for a fairly short amount of time, but this game is at the top of my list as far as XBox games. I love the graphics, the sounds, the gameplay, and the setting. If ya dig apocalypse style games/movies like I do, definitely pick this game up. Highly highly recommended. *I've heard some people say that this game is just like the first Left 4 Dead. I can't vouch for that, but if you're a first time L4D'er (like me), don't hesitate in buying this game. Happy hunting!

Yes, it's very similar to the original Left 4 Dead, and yes, the game-play is pretty much the same, but how much can you vary the sequel to a zombie game? Left 4 Dead 2 = Shoot the super-fast cross-country running zombies before they nom at your brain. With 4 hilariously stereotypical characters, a load of guns and melee weapons, and very creative maps. After you play through the game yourself, this is probably best if you have at least 1-3 other friends that own it. It's a great game to play with friends, because the replay value stays quite high with the amount of variety the AI director throws your way. Plus, it's a nice game to see which of your friends crack under the pressure of a zombie apocalypse. Go buy it. Make sure to grab your samurai sword and plenty of bullets, you'll need them.

Well worth the price. I pre-ordered the game a few days before it came out. I dont know what there is to complain about, very good product. I dont know what people are talking about when they say you have limited ammo for your pistols? It's all unlimited, the double pistols, and the desert eagle. If you don't want to use those you can use a guitar, machete, sword, police stick, cricket bat, or even a chainsaw. You have the ability to switch between pistols and melee weapons so don't listen to people who say you run out of ammo with your pistols because they have the choice to switch back and forth between weapons. The graphics are fine, much more blood and gore than the first game. I play it as much as COD: MW2 lol and that's ALOT. Great game, great price, great everything. :)

Bought this game when it first came out years ago. We got a new puppy who ate it so I had to replace it. How many games do you own that if, two or three years after you purchased it, you would have to rush out and replace if it were lost or damaged? Off hand, I'm not sure I can think of one other than Left 4 Dead (1 and 2). I won't go on and on talking about the game itself (game review mags and websites can do a much better job than myself) but I will summarize by saying it is the ultimate online co-op experience. It is endlessly re-playable and years later the developer continues to provide new downloadable content to keep the experience fresh. Even buying this game twice, I have gotten my money's worth out of it many times over. This game is a classic.

    New Sequel, Same Basic Game

Don't get me wrong, this is a good game but if you've played the first installment, this is very familiar. The developers were obviously looking for the $$$ sign when they developed this. They thought oh let's change the characters, setting, added some weapons and some new zombies it will be good. This feels very familiar with the first installment with minor changes and that's undeniable. You can probably get more value if you play more online. The overall stlye of the game and yes even engine seems to be the same as the 1st one. With Modern Warfare 2, Uncharted 2 etc. out - it will be difficult for this game to find a good niche in the market. Seriously, if you still have the 1st one and you play mostly online it's probably a good idea to wait for a few months for the price to drop.

This game is a very fun survival game. In most modes players must defend themselves as they travel in a group of four to the safe houses. When playing online, it is fun to switch off being survivors and play as infected. I found it that this game is best when playing online with friends. One of the best parts of the game is the new weapons and items. Also, melee weapons are fun to use. There is a new mode called scavenge where you have to collect gas cans and whoever gets the most wins-but you have to do it while the other team attacks. The variety in the game makes it worth coming back to. The achievements are also fun and challenging to obtain. The only bad thing is probably just some glitches, usually when online, but it really doesnt make much of a difference. All in all, this is a really fun game. If you liked the first one then you will like this too.

A great improvement over the first installment of this franchise. I got bored and sold off L4D1 in several months, but already I can tell that I'll be keeping this one in my library as my go to multiplayer game for a while. The inclusion of 5 campaigns, versus mode on all, survival and now scavenger make this a great purchase. They also upped the gore, and the added melee weapons are a blast to play with. The only drawback is that the overall graphics are not much improved from the first, maybe higher resolution. It seems too bad that with all of the awesome graphics in games these days that Valve seems to be resting on the house that Gordon Freeman built (graphics-wise). But with the frantic gameplay, you'll be more concerned about not getting your a** kicked than how many pixels there are on the screen.

Just played the demo for l4d2. Controlls are similar but doesn't seem as responsive. The controls seemed slugish compared to the 1st one. Graphics are amazing and the different normal zombies are great. Seemed like there are too many swarms of zombies which i can see as being a problem in versus. Ai is still dumbed down. Expert is impossible unless you have 4 great players because you can no longer wait hordes out thanks to new special infected like spitters. Also, the melee weapons are just stupid. The melee weapons replace your pistols, so when you run out of ammo you have to use a frying pan or a bat. Don't even waste your time with the melee weapons what would you rather have 2 handguns or a guitar to fight endless hordes of zombies? Overall the game should be great apart from the few gripes i posted. If you liked the 1st one youll like this.

I played Left 4 Dead 1, and I though it was sort of fun, but buying it never crossed my mind. It just didn't reach out and grab me, no pun intended, however, this game did. The reactions from the zombies when you attack them seem very realistic, the campaign levels are very unique, creative and fun, and there are more types of zombies than in the first one. The new weapons and game modes added are also awesome. When I saw that this was on sale for $35, I couldnt pass it up, and I'm glad that I picked it up. I RECOMMEND THIS GAME TO ANYONE WHO IS LOOKING FOR A SIMPLE, FUN, AND WELL CRAFTED GAME(with the thought that it involves a lot of violence and zombie killing, so if your sensitive to the kind of stuff, its not exactly the game for you)

First off...if you are a fan of the first LFD, this game is not going to dissapoint you. Yes, it is basically the same as the first with new zombies, weapons, etc., but that is what I expected out of it. The graphics are very good and the campaign is great as well. I loved the first game and I'm glad they did not change the mechanics much in this one. The new melee weapons as well as better guns make this game more enjoyable and the new zombies such as the "jockey" are great. Online modes, as in the first LFD, are great as well. The makers of this game came up with a great formula for the first game and so I don't blame them for not changing it much. As I said earlier...if you love the first one, you have to get this one. It is well worth it wether you pay full price or get it on sale.

Ok, first off, if you don't like zombies, stop reading this. If you do like zombies, BUY THIS GAME IMMEDIATELY. It has 5 campaigns that all go in a story, 4 characters, and around 20 weapons. It also has 4 modes called Survival, Versus, Realsim (new), and Scavenge (new). In sirvival, you have a team of four people and you try to survive as long as you can. In versus, your team and another team switch off trying to kill the survivors as the infected while the survivors go through the campaigns. In scavenge, your team faces another team and you both try to collect as many gas cans while the other team tries to stop you. Overall, buy this game, it might teach you how to survive a zombie apocalypse.

I was unsure if I was going to get this game or not. I still put the first one in from time to time, but I saw new game modes and what is more fun then blowing up zombies? I decided I would get it around christmas time. I saw that best buy had this game at $35 dollars (around thanksgiving) and I couldn't turn down this game for that price and I am happy that I didn't. The game is a huge upgrade from the first. The graphics are leagues ahead of the first game. There are several new modes, including a round based multiplayer over xbox lto go along with the versus mode. More guns and a longer much harder campain make this game worth the $60 you'll pay for it, if you find it for cheaper then that, buy it for sure.

No doubt this game makes a fantastic sequel to the original zombie thriller. It is a blast! Fight your way through 5 campaigns now that all link together. Fight new, dangerous zombies on your quest to freedom and rescue, all the while using new melee weapons and guns to meet your goal. While this game provides hours of entertainment, for those who were bored easily from the game play of L4D1, be prepared to be bored again. The repay quality is high, but as play will dictate, it is more of the same old Left 4 Dead with new weapons and fighters. I love the game, and it keeps my attention, but don't be prepared to spend hours upon hours playing. This game is good in small doses.

this is a surefire good choice for those zombie mangling fanatics out there with all the ways you can hack slice whack and decimate with ever increasing explosions or incinerations or pumping lead into them. Either way a good strategy game for the teamwork savvy individual and a refreshing update for loyal fans of the first game. although some might claim its easier to in as infected or maybe even survivors its really quite balanced in my opinion and with new modes other than simply campaign or verses it retains its entertainment time for quite a while. Not only will old fans love it but its easy to learn and jump into the game for first timers, all in all a good buy for those with trigger happy fingers.

This game has only one flaw so i will get that out of the way immediatly in my opinion it doesnt have very good replay value one you beat the game in as many ways possible its not very tempting to pick it back up, often. And i was not impressed with the online play. Although i am extremely happy that they added the online play because it does offer up alot of enjoyment. I like the fact that the game is fast paced and slow at times but it is a great blend of both, and there are some diverse enemies in this game, its not just hoards of zombies. Each of the special enemies have their own unique ways of attacking and killing them affectively can be tricky. this game is very fun and very challenging
