Your mileage will vary with this, but it's a great campaign with a bunch of additional content you can purchase (varying in cost from $12 up to $30). Some of the extra content is just characters you can play as (Ninjago, Scooby Doo, etc), or additional levels (Portal, Simpsons, Back to the Future, and Dr. Who). You start as characters from Lord of the Rings, the Lego movie and Lego Batman, but you can switch in and out with additional characters. Some kids may not get all of the references, but this is a lot of fun. But it will cost a LOT of money to experience all the game has to offer. Recommended, but be prepared to have to purchase those extra characters and levels, especially if your child loves those characters.

Overall this is a fun game that my wife and son enjoy playing. The only downside is that the game will freeze and some sections of the levels with glitch. This means that you have to restart everything you have done after your last save point. The xbox one is in open air and not enclosed so no reason for the game freezing up when all my other games do not have this issue. Those two issues were why I gave it four stars. If this game were not meant for my wife and son to play and instead I was the primary user I would give this game a two stars based on the issues I noted.

Lego makes some great games and this is no exception. It is still being supported by the companies, so they are still bringing new characters and content to it (unlike Disney Infinity). Easy to build the structures and people. Fun little accent pieces for the characters. Easy to play, and always fun!

My kids really loved this game (age 8 and 5). More suited for 8+ and you need to like Legos. If your kids don't like to build Legos they won't like this because there is a lot of building.

I have never played a game that is more addicting. The set up is simple, kind of like the lego movie, but the great part is how they all interact in these different. The game sets up your own intro to the boxed characters and shows you how the building takes place. The fun part is all the characters you have to interact with, Homer Simpson and Batman can be in the same game. Just fun to have and the little lego sets are fun to build with the kids.

If your family is into gaming and Legos like mine, there is no better way to spend an afternoon than with Lego Dimensions. My son (4 yrs old) is a Lego fanatic and I am a gamer Dad. Being able to sit down with my boy and play a game that incorporates actually building the Legos is an unparalleled joy. To be honest though, the price of entry is a bit steep but well worth it for the amount of content and quality that is Lego Dimensions.

I spent a few hours online reading reviews and had mixed feelings about this game. My daughter and I have played every Lego game so far and have had a blast. I finally decided to buy this since it was on sale and we get the additional 20% off from the gamers unlocked. It took a while to install on the One, but I do want to say it is worth it so far. I just bought 3 more packs for it, too.

Fun to play and easy. Creative fun with legos as they have to build the portal

I wasn't sure what to expect when I bought this game for my son as a birthday present. I liked the idea of building lego's mixed with playing the characters in a video game. Disney infinity had rave reviews but it just never really impressed me that much and I couldn't get into it. This game on the other hand far exceeded my expectations on enjoyment level. My son and I are having a blast playing this game together and exploring different worlds with some of our favorite characters. I bought the simpsons level pack and the Back to the future level pack as well and are only scratching the surface. I'm going to be buying more of these because they're a blast to play with.

Loved the game; had a few glitches with start-up, but learned that it was because I had too many characters on the portal to start. Always building new items/cars within the game, and love finding all the new bricks/minikits using each of the characters. The portal is interactive, so you have to switch characters from different parts of the board. VERY fun!

As an extremely long time gamer, who now has kids who are interested in gaming with their Dad its been a struggle to find a game that is easy enough for them and that doesn't suck. Skylanders boo, Disney infinity boo. Lego Dimensions is exactly what the other titles are missing. Assembling the lego characters and a game that is very interesting to play!!

My child had Disney Infinity for his Xbox 360, but when he got Xbox One for Christmas, we decided to go with the Lego Dimensions instead. Great decision on our part! He loves putting the figures together, and he has lots more option for characters with this. He especially likes the Dr. Who and the Back to the Future so far.

This game is so much fun. Its a lego game like you have never seen before. It tops all the other toys to life games, instead of having just a figure you put on a pad you actually get to engage in becoming a master builder by building the things needed in the game. The possibilities are endless and it is just so much fun.

Overall a lot of fun, with the exception of some technical issues. My 10 year old and 7 year old have had some difficulty registering the vehicles, but it is easily rectified through Lego support. There is a lot of possibilities and new worlds coming in the next couple of months. The kids basically like the worlds more than the main story, which gives me something to do too. I would recommend and buy again.

If you're into Lego, or any of the Lego games, this is fun. I was concerned that after buying the first pack, you would be forced to have to keep upgrading with additional characters, but so far it doesn't seem that way. Time will tell as we get further into it. But so far, a great game all round.
