The extra pieces are great for making custom weapons and putting visors on your other minifigs!

I always liked the blue on the 501st and did not hesitate to grab this pack! I think the weapon they come with is based on the mini-fied AV-7 set 75045, so it's a nice memorabilia back when I had that set
